Health › Baby Becomes Blind After Photographer Takes Close Up Photos With Flash by wellmax(op): 6:46am On Aug 02, 2015
This is a warning to those who love taking pictures of newborns for the sake of DP's with their phones.
A 3-month-old baby has suffered irreversible damage in one eye after a photographer forgot to turn off the flash while taking close-up photos during a photo-shoot.
Doctors have said the infant, who has not been named, suffered irreparable damage from the flash of the camera which was held too close to his face.
The parents noticed something was wrong with the vision of their baby after the pictures were taken by a photographer who was family friend.
The incident has seen the baby suffering from reduced vision in the left eye and blindness in the right eye. The damage is reportedly permanent and cannot be fixed with surgery as the strong flash damaged cells on the macula, which is the part of the eye where incoming light rays are focused. Damage to the macula can lead to loss of central vision, which allows people to see straight.
According to experts the macula is not fully developed until children are 4 years old, and so infants are very sensitive to bright light. Just a few milliseconds of bright light can cause permanent damage.
It is unclear if the family friend who caused the blindness will face any criminal charges.

Politics › Prostitution Is Not A Crime, It Is A Fundamental Right – Amnesty International by wellmax(op): 8:33pm On Jul 31, 2015
An Amnesty Coalition has pushed for prostitution to be legalized around the world, with the condition that it should be criminalized when it involves “human trafficking for sexual exploitation” and children. They stated categorically that every adult has 100% ownership and right to her body and what she does with it.
Marie Claire, an international monthly magazine for women, revealed that Amnesty International group has presented its proposal which calls for the ‘decriminalization of sex work’ and intends to ask its delegates to vote for it.
The Coalition Against Trafficking in Women
International (CATW) has in this regard, launched a change.org page, asking delegates to vote ‘NO’ to the discrimination against sex workers. “Voting to kick off officially tomorrow, August 1st, 2015, but we have gathered over 4,500 signatures,” ” CATW added.

An open letter, signed by more than 400 activists, human rights advocates and celebrities which include stars like Anne Hathaway, Lena Durnam, Kate Winslet and Meryl Streep, questions the issue of consent.
“By definition, sex work means that sex workers who are engaging in commercial sex have consented to do so,” the policy reads.

Why were you dismissed?
It is something you can defend with the next employer?
Do you think if any prospective employer asked for a reference, your former employer will say bad of you?

Answers to these should help you make a decision. All the best.
