Politics › Re: Suspected Suicide Bomber Nabbed At Living Faith Kaduna by wellmax(op): 9:57am On Jan 09, 2012
A major disaster was averted at the Living Faith Church, Kaduna yesterday when the church security men foiled a Boko Haram attempt to plant a car with explosive in the premises, while the Sunday service was in progress.
Eyewitness said that at about 8:00am when the first service which started at 7 am was in session, a new Peugeot 406 ash colour beat the security checks at the entrance into the church premises and headed straight to the central location of the church, wheresome of the church security men accosted driver who was alone in the car.
The driver was ordered to relocate the vehicle to the parking lot tagged Shiloh park, but he insisted that he would not move from the position the vehicle was stationed. This created suspicion from the security men who insisted he must be searched. The eyewitness said: “at this point, the security men then accused the driver not to have subjected himself and the carfor screening at the main gate and ordered the man to open the car boot.”
“While the church security men were trying to open his car booth, the driver zoomedoff in full speed and forced the car out of the main gate, broke the bar iron to the gate. Those around the entrance threw stones at thecar which broke the rear windscreen, but the driver escaped. He was however given chase with another car.” Meanwhile, officials of the church declined comment on the issue, as they claimedthat the matter has been reported to the police and authorities in the state.
However, the Kaduna Police Command Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mallam Aminu Lawan who confirmed the incident, said that “there was a report of an incident of a man who came to Living Faith Church with a Peugeot 406 car and did not subject himself for search initially, and while they were trying to search him, he forced himself outside the premises.” Lawanargued: “as he was running away, he broke the gate to the main gate to the church. You can go there; you will see the gate broken.
And they said as the man was trying to escape, he wasgiven a chase, and suddenlyanother vehicle came from nowhere and crossed those who were chasing the suspect and allow him to escape.” “We have apprehended the man who aided the suspect to escape;he is now in our custody. The police have commenced investigation and we are on the trail of the suspect,” he stated.

Nairaland General › Why Shout! by wellmax(op): 9:50am On Jan 01, 2012
A theology professor was teaching about Proverbs 15 vs 1. He asked his students,"why do we shout in anger? why do people shout at each other, when they upset? The students thought for a while. One of them said, because we loose calm, we shout for that. "But why shout when the other person is just next to you? "asked the Professor. Isn't it possible to speak to him or her with a soft voice? Why do you shout at a person when you are angry?"The students gave some other answers but none satisfied the Professor. Finally he explained, "When two people are angry at each other, their hearts psychologically distance themselves. To cover the distance, they must shout to be able to hear each other.
The angrier they are, the stronger they will shout to hear each other through that great distance. Then the Professor asked, "What happens when two people fallin love? They dont shout at each other but talk softly, why? Because their hearts are psychologically very close. The distance between them is very close. The distance between them is very small. The Professor continued, "When they love each other even more, what happens? They do not speak, only whisper and theyeven get closer to each other in their love. Finally they even need not whisper, they only look at each other and that's all,
So next time you shout to a loved one, know that you are creating distance between your heart and that person's heart. ."A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger."

@OP, while trying hard to avoid another ethnic bashing, I'd always shared your thoughts. The ibos, whether they accept it or not are the forerunners of Nigeria's troubles. Even if Zik has his part of the blame, i would want to again point to the Ezeogwu coup. He killed top northern officers, Sultan:their religious ruler and T. Balewa. The north has not forgotten there crimes and Nigeria is still paying for this act perpetuated by the ibos.

Foreign Affairs › Obama Bans Daughters From Facebook by wellmax(op): 11:30am On Dec 18, 2011
IN what appears to be an irony, the United States President Barack Obama who relied heavily on social media to win election in 2008, has admitted that he banned his daughters from using Facebook. Giving reason for his action, Obama said he did not want 'strangers knowing our business,' adding that it 'does not make much sense' to put the most private detailsof his family life on public view. His eldest daughter, Malia, is 13, and just old enough to use Facebook. Her younger sister Sasha is 10. 'But Mr. Obama said he won't consider allowing them to join the site until they are both four years older,' said a report in Britain's Daily Mail recently. 'His admission seemssomewhat ironic, given that he made full use of Facebook and other websites to encourage the young to vote for him in the presidential election - and to raise millionsof dollars for his campaign. Asa result, he became known asthe 'First Social Media President,' the paper added. Obama's Facebook page - which has 24 million 'likes' - remains a key part of his ongoing efforts to seek re-election. In an interview, the president described the thinking behind the Facebook ban as: 'Why would we want to have a whole bunch of people who we don't know knowing our business? That doesn't make much sense.' He added: 'We'll see how they (his daughters) feel in four years.

Christianity Etc › Bishop David Oyedepo Losses Mum. by wellmax(op): 8:53pm On Dec 14, 2011
The family of one of the most respected preachers in Africa, Bishop David Oyedepo is bereaved.
Yemojanews.com was informed few hours ago that the 57 years old founder and president of Living Faith Church Worldwide, a.k.a Winners chapel has lost his mother, Madam Dorcas Oyedepo.
We learnt that Mama Oyedepo passed on to glory quietly earlier this morning, Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at her Omu-Aran, Kwara State home town, but we are yet to get the full details of the cause of her death.
Mama Oyedepo as she is fondly called by other family members was a very devoted Christian. She was an active member of Eternal Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement (C&S) branch of the Aladura Movement in Nigeria while she was younger.
The woman whom yemojanews.comgathered died in her late eighties was also an active worker in her son, David Oyedepo’s Winners Chapel which has its headquarter along Idiroko road, Ota, Ogun State.

But as your myopic mind is conditioned to reason, I'll let you wallow in foolishness and self agradisement. OPC, as much as I am not their fan, simply made a statement and warning and their warning was loud and clear.
