CoronaVirusPro: It is really a bad development. Even as a proud, honorable and highly esteemed son of the Yoruba ethnic group, I see this development born out of hate.
It is a big setback and a shame on those who cooked up and executed the hate filled agenda.
It’s not a secret that other ethnic groups have streets and roads named after them in states they happen to non-indigenes.
These is a disaster that would NEVER yield good results. It is the result of electing incompetent leaders who have nothing to offer but to stoke hate. They are bereft of innovative ideas to develop their people and environment.
His Excellency, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) needs to step-in on this matter and make sure all name changes are reverted.
On behalf of Honorable and high esteemed self, I sincerely apologize to all Igbo’s within and outside the shores of Nigeria. I never believed it could degenerate to this level. You are on your own . The government elected by the people has taken a decision supported by the majority . I hope you know Nigeria is a federation and the FG has no right to tell a state what to do. All these wailings are of no use at this point . |
Politics › Re: Nigeria's Challenged Coexistence By Lagos' Sanwo-olu by WesleyPepper: 12:35am On Jul 28, 2025 |
This is the 14th wailing thread I’ve read about Lagos today alone . Yorubas do not need fake unity with people who harbor deep seated hatred against her .
Thank God you are getting the message loud and clear . We would continue to protect our interests no matter whose ox is gored . Go to Sokoto or Maiduguri and make demands there |
Politics › Re: Sometimes It's Not Igbophobia But Igbofolly by WesleyPepper: 12:28am On Jul 28, 2025 |
Igbophobia: This is not a Yoruba or Southwest issue—it's a basic survival instinct for laid-back humans. These people feel threatened by Igbo industry and resilience, and Igbo pride often makes that threat feel more visible and direct.
The reason the Southwest appears to be the most vocal at this moment is because they perceive the Igbo as an additional obstacle in their own quest to extract from Nigeria in the same way the North already has.
As I said earlier, the Igbo concept of justice and equity is a threat to all of them—whether Northerner or Westerner.
This is why all Igbos should strive for an Igbo-only country. Not even the southern minorities can stay with Igbos in one country. Why do you think Africa is the most backward continent? It's constituent tribes are mostly laid back people. Igbo being different is a threat to them.
That’s the real problem. Even the crude oil money they’re stealing—they can’t extract or refine it themselves, not even in a hundred years, without the help of the white man. Even if you dashed them all the oil in Nigeria, they still wouldn’t know what to do with it in terms of making life meaningful for their people. This is rich coming from someone from the poorest region in southern Nigeria I’m sure the people in South Africa, India , Ghana and those funny far eastern Asian countries most people can’t even locate on a map know a lot about the virtues of the industrious ibo 😂😂😂 When you are done deceiving yourself, you’d tell us |

aribisala0: It is important to add context Lagos state was created in 1967 It is not the same as Lagos of 1891 which is less than 20% of the land mass of Lagos state
The rest e.g Mushin , Oshodi Gbadada, Badagry Ikeja, Ikorodu Epe were all part of the Western Region and separate from Lagos Colony the capital of Nigeria
So we have in Lagos state Lagos Town just like you have Enugu, Oyo, Ondo, Kaduna, !Kano, Bauchi, Sokoto, Katsina towns inside states with the same name
Lagos Town I.e the Island ,Ikoyi, Victoria Island and Mainland up to Idi Oro was the capital of Nigeria. Not Lagos state
Lagos state WAS NEVER THE CAPITAL OF NIGERIA and that is why it had its own separate capital from where you had all the Federal bodies like Supreme Court, Central Bank Federal secretariat Embassies etc
The location of Embassies is a guide to where the capital is or was
Gbagada was never part of the capital and all these ridiculous claims of cosmopolitan Lagos have no basis Great submission It’s not like the Yorubas and the Osurikes are Siamese twin . I don’t understand their obsession with Yorubaland . It’s sickening We’ve renamed the street and we would do more and there’s nothing any loser can do about it |

Eboofa: The only Igbo people the renaming will pain are the die hard Igbogerians, who always feel everywhere is better than Igboland............which one concern us for eastside! If the Igbogerians are pained, let them not worry,we have enuff streets here in Onitsha to be renamed ! 😂😂😂 So tell your brothers to face front and stop wailing |

Ofunaofu: Oyetola ran away to avoid being defeated a second or even third time. Another loss would have sent him into political oblivion, rendering him irrelevant, finished and dead
And you, press9jaTV, your job here should be done. APC isn’t coming back Adeleke had already won before the election even began You are clearly oblivious of what is at play here . They’ve traded Osun already . Adeleke would eventually join the APC or be backed by the APC . Oyetola would continue as a minister and might come back after Adeleke . It’s crazy |

DEROX: Did public students pay under ladoja yes or no Education has always been free to a large extent in Oyo state since the return of democracy. I attended a government secondary school in that same Oyo during Ladoja’s time and I didn’t pay. Ladoja introduced 30 students per class and unbundled the schools . He divided the big schools into 2 or 3 for example for easy administration. School 1 and 2 with separate administrators. He also employed more teachers and rebuilt the dilapidated schools while also equipping them . The golden period for public schools in Oyo was between 2003 and 2011. Some public schools were competing favourably with private schools in Ibadan . Kids were leaving the private schools after jss3 to attend the schools of science ( I was one of those). My school even had 30minutes or an hour on BCO.S/NTA every week showing our teachers teaching science . During Ajimobi’s time, WAEC and tuition were also free. They only paid dev levy , PTA and extra lesson which were not more than 3k cumulatively. Are the schools better now that they are no longer paying those levies Definitely NOT I was ashamed the last time I was at my secondary school. It was the venue of the federal government scholarship exam when I was in the UNI. It looked like an abandoned war camp. I couldn’t believe that was the place I had just left 5 years prior. See those levies were used to pay the employed PTA teachers to augment the government employed ones . The useless government stopped all of that and still couldn’t fill the void . Seyi Makinde’s has tried according to his capacity but it is well below par . The metropolis is always filled with thrash anytime I go home to see my folks . See what Ajimobi did with the environment . What about security ? Don’t even get me started on that . Ajimobi did wonders with Operation Burst . While I agree Seyi is likeable and less confrontational, in terms of governance he hasn’t outperformed Ajimobi . PS: I understand the National economy was largely better during Ladoja and Ajimobi’s time . So that could have impacted on Seyi’s performance |
