Contrary to rumours flying around that Emeka Ike’s
wife, Emma has filed for divorce after 13 years of
living with the actor, the former has refuted the
rumour, insisting that his marriage is intact. The actor also denied being a wife beater. The buzz last week was that Emeka Ike’s wife had filed for divorce in court and that the case will be coming up on the 22nd of this month. In a chat with HVP, the actor described the rumour as unfounded, blaming it on those who are envious of his marriage. According to him, “As I’m talking to you now, I have not received any divorce notice. There is nothing like that happened. I have not received any letter from anybody. I am a Christian, we don’t divorce. http://linkis.com/www.vanguardngr.com/jNcIq |
Liberia on Wednesday recorded the sixth Ebola confirmed case and second death since the virus resurfaced in June. A senior medical official said a Liberian woman has died of Ebola in a hospital in Monrovia shortly after being admitted on Tuesday. The official said the victim, Kebbeh Kollie, lived near Monrovia, and the sister of Cassius Kollie, one of five Ebola cases discovered in neighbouring Margibi County, where the disease re-emerged after a seven-week lull. The official added that the detection raised fears that the infection may be spreading in the Montserrado County area of Liberia, which includes the capital. More than 11,200 people have died from Ebola since an epidemic broke out in December 2013 in neighbouring Guinea. Liberia was declared Ebola-free on May 9 but reported a new case nearly two months later. The official said the outbreak was also still active in Sierra Leone and Guinea. Francis Kateh, Liberia’s Chief Medical Officer, said there was one new case. Admissions processes into higher institutions in Nigeria will be rounded off on October 31, the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Education, McJohn Nwaoibala, has said. Mr. Nwaoibala gave the directive on Tuesday at the 2015 combined policy meeting, shortly after he pronounced the 2015 cut-off mark for admission into degree programmes, national certificate in education, national diploma and national innovation diplomas. “We need to make hay while the sun shines. All admissions processes should be concluded on or before 31st of October 2015,”he said. Mr. Nwaoibala said that the 150 and 180 cut-off marks were adopted by JAMB as the minimum score to degree and diploma awarding institution respectively. He said the Federal government mandated the various institutions to strictly adhere to the 60:40 sciences to arts ratio, and the 70:30 technology to non-technology ratio. He added that the states and privately owned tertiary institution should apply the criteria as approved by their authorities. Meanwhile, the chairman governing board of JAMB, Peter Eze, said he is pleased with JAMB’s transition from the traditional paper and pencil test to the Computer Based Test. He added that the mode of exams adopted in JAMB has changed the face of conduct of public exams in Nigeria. “We can be counted as one of the top 10 in the world as far as conducting public exams is concerned,” he said. Mr. Eze noted that the transition to CBT is a firm commitment by JAMB to ensure that the best practices in the mode of assessment in other for Nigerian youth to be attached with their counterpart all over the world. cc lalasticala http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/186679-no-admissions-into-nigerian-universities-beyond-october-31-ministry-of-education.html |
