One of the main reasons US weapons has popularity is because of its pact with the EU. Those ones can't produce many heavy military equipment on their own, so they rely on uncle Sam to do it for them. Also, another major and probably the most important decider is because US likes to sanction countries for using Chinese or Russian weaponry. So countries who don't want that smoke or lack the leverage to just play it safe and go for platforms that comes with lesser problems. Hence, US fighters/ weaponry are more popular because of the EU and it's Asian puppets like Korea and Japan etc.

True, USA is ahead already in fifth generation fighter aircraft race, being the pioneers. But presently in the next race to fielding 6th gen fighters, China is already ahead with them already testing not one but TWO aircrafts, to the awe of the West. US still has the largest tonnage displacement for ships in service but China is soon to surpass that.

On worldwide operations... I agree Russia don't have the funds to launch global operations but China very well has the means and military to do so. They're not just as enthusiastic in controlling countries with military and aggression like the US does. China is more focused in it's region and the South China Sea than playing God in faraway countries that they don't give AF about or much vested interests.

China's own style of dominance and control is more economical— soft power. Their own play is to make everyone even the US dependent on them economically.

I don't think you fully informed about US weapons development process in recent times. US have the largest military budget by far, but that is not actually culminating in more combat/military platforms. It doesn't correlate with more ships, more missiles, more aircraft and weapons development. In fact, weaponry is shrinking.
