[quote author=musspuss]Hello all,

Please, I need advice on my upcoming visa interview. It's kinda complicated. I completed my form a couple of months ago when I hadn't stumbled upon this forum or made any real plans and enquiries about birthing in the US. I completed the application form along with my hubby and daughter in April and stated that we intended travelling together the same day and staying with hubby's brother who lives in Houston but that I'll be spending 8 weeks while hubby and daughter would be spending 4 weeks.

The question is; Have you signed and submitted the form electronically? If not, you can still edit it without any problem as long as it is still within 30 days. But if you have submitted it, please go through these steps as that was what I used too when I discovered I made a mistake after submission. "The State Department requires electronic submission of a Form DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application, prior to an individual’s interview appointment in connection with a nonimmigrant visa application at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate overseas. While information in the Form DS-160 cannot be changed or amended after the form is electronically submitted, applicants needing to make a correction may retrieve the information contained in the submitted forms in one of two ways. First, if the application was submitted less than 30 days prior to the date of access, the applicant may log into the Consular Electronic Application Center system, enter the application identification number, and select “Retrieve an Application.” When prompted by the system, the applicant should opt to create a new application, which will cause the entire prior application to appear (with the exception of information relating to travel plans to the U.S.) The applicant may then edit the information as required, and re-submit the application. Alternatively, if the applicant saved the DAT file from the original application, the applicant can access and amend the information contained in a submitted application at any time and electronically submit a new Form DS-160 after making any required changes. Applicants must bring confirmation pages from both the original and revised Form DS-160 with them when they appear at the Embassy or Consulate if the original Form DS-160 was used to book the visa appointment or pay related fees, as each submission contains a unique barcode." meanwhile, it will generate another bar code for you. Print the new confirmation page and take the two with you for your interview. Though the first one will still be returned to you as it won't be relevant again.
Try and follow those steps and let's see what happens next.

@ Phema, I want to say a big congratulations to you on your sucessful visa application. I even think its the same guy that interviewed both of us. (He's a very cool and attentive middle aged man in his late 40s or early 50s who always wants to listen to you. The way he starts his question is always different from others. For instance, the first question he asked me after looking @ the monitor for few seconds was" I can see you are travelling with your wife and kid, do they already have their visas?" Unlike other that will ask you;" why are you going to the US?" I must say that throughout the period I was inside the interviewing room, this guy did not deny a single person. There was even a low self esteemed woman that came. Itt was when I was doing my tombprint that this woman was being interviewed beside me by this man @ window 6 and I was so sure that she would be denied. But this man gave him the visa o. that was when I started praying that I must be interviewed by this man. And it happend. My visa was granted 2 weeks ago(Mon 11th Aug) The guy only asked for my wife's visa page and that was all. I also flew from Lagos to Abj for the interview because of the positive visa application, so it was worth it. I just think its God's favor @ work for those that seek for it. Please always ask and rely on the favor of God. It is the only thing that matters. God will favor us all IJN.

Visa processing time is usually three days, so you should be fine. If you feel you need an expedited appointment, here are the instructions: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-expeditedappointment.asp . It doesn't really sound like this would qualify for one, but you're welcome to make your case."
Hi VO, thank you for your time. I will like to say your input has been so helpful here on this forum. My visa was approved last week monday in Abuja and I was told that due to the problem the embassy is facing with their visa processing system, the passport will not be ready on time. However the VO said I could pick it up by Wed or latest by friday of that same week. So I went there on that Friday and @ the pick up venue @ Wuse 2, I was told it was not ready and that I shouldn't come back until I here or get a message from the embassy that it is ready. It is now 1 week 2 days already and I have still not heard anything. I want to know if I or I am not the only one experiencing the delay and what could be done on my own part as I have sent messages to the email provided and there was no response.
Thank you.

Hi VO, I must commend you for the job you are doing here. Please, I have a wedding I want to attend along side my wife and kid who is a US citizen. I have never been to US before and I never applied for US visa but my wife has been there(US) about two times. My question now is, the interview appointment date I got is four days away from our travel date. Do you think this might affect my chances? Why I asked is so that I can cancel my appointment on time and see if I can still get a closer date. Please, I will like you to enlighten me as I think this is not a specific case question. Thank you.

Hello house, please don't let us start these MIHS Vs El paso thing again. Let everybody weigh their options and decide. To the people that have used MIHS, please, you'll make it easier for other people by coming back to share a detailed account of your experience so that people can learn and make their decisions based on your testimony.

Secondly house, please I need to know how one can secure a confirmation number for scheduling an appointment with the US embassy as I really need to get a date ASAP. I think someone said there is a way around it that one does not need to submit the DS 160 b4 getting a confirmation no to allow you book a date. Please, I will like if I can get a quick response as per this issue. One love

sheyai: i thought this forum was created to help pple with desired information but obviously it has been taken over by some el paso clan. this is the 3rd time i am asking for an info on North Carolina without any assist.
please don't be pissed. I am sure no one has info on NC, that's why nobody has replied you. And you are right to say this thread is to provide information. You can also be a source of information yourself. Please don't be tired to do more research on your own end if nobody is seem to be giving any helpful info. Am sure they will do if they have any. Cheers.

It seems everybody is on holiday here. @ Jyde2014, a lot of reasons you can give @ the embassy when asked about your intention. The main reason is that Perinatal motality rate is so high in nigeria and you cants risk the life of your unborn child. This is caused by lack of advanced medical facilities and equipments such as a baby's heartbeat monitor among others. just make sure you have enough money to back up your point.you also need prayers.

Algunano: The purpose of my last visit was vacation and i travelled alone. The previous one before that was also vacation and I travelled alone. I am not married but I am in a serious relationship. The part of the US visa form that asks who is paying for my trip, I am confused wether to write self or Dad. My Dad is the one paying but if I write self for dropbox sake and they ask for my bank acc, the funds in there will not be sufficient o. Thanks for the reply, I'll contact fabulous mum. Many thanks.
wow! Seems you won't have a problem then since you've always been travelling alone. However, one cannot be too sure of how those people think. You can just indicate you will be going for vacation as usual and pick the number of days you've always been picking during your previous interviews. Ler your daddy also be your sponsor. You can just add your own peronal account no matter how little the closing balance is. The inflow and outflow of cash is what matters and that won't even count since another person is sponsoring your trip.you should be fine. As far as the embassy is concerned, you are still single and dependent to a certain extent. Don't worry, just be possitive and your dream will be achieved.

Algunano: Hello House, You guys have done an amazing job. My EDD is on the 13th of June next year, however my visa expires in January. I qualify for Dropbox and I intend to use that for renewal. The difficulty I am having is stating how long I am travelling for in my DS-160 form might raise some questions and they may want to contact me to ask why. What should I do? I have decided to go birth in El Paso thanks to this forum and the many benefits of the doctoresparati package. After reading about the horrors of Houston POE I have decided to go in via Dallas. I am going to pay all medical fees before arrival and I have also made a reservation at In-town suites. What else do I need to have for POE and how much should I take with me? I would really appreciate your response. I intend to travel in April via London. Thanks alot .
you should be fine via Dallas. However, there are people that travelled through that route(London). Fabulous mom for example. You can request for more info from her personally. As per how much you should take with you, I think 5-7k is ok since you said you'll pay your bills in advance. If I may ask, what was your purpose of visit the last time you were in the US and with who?

toslad: Tnx house for the invaluable infor. Got into d USA thru united on Wednesday after our Tuesday flight was rescheduled. Hubby and son were stamped in but I was detained for close to 2hrs.
I was grilled & quizzed if I intended giving birth here. To cut d long story short, i was stamped in for just 3 wks and i am just about 32 wks preggy!
Pls what can i do? Then any ideas of an affordable dr in Chicago? Tnk u
you are in a real dilema situation and to my own view, it is a matter of how much you can sacrifice for your unborn child. To me, I think you should take a sacrificial risk and give your child a legacy he will forever be grateful to you at the espence of your own visa renewal. at least for now. You can only be banned for at most 10 years. you have come a long way. if you can die for your child to live, then this is not an impossible situation. my own thought.

@Amefrica, you are so allowed to work on-campus the next day you arrive school, lol! On a more serious note, there is no restrictions so far you can secure an employment within your campus. The only thing is you are restricted to how many hours you can work/week. This link should shed more light to your part. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/work.asp goodluck to you bro.

Amefrica: Hi everybody!! I know Canny is strict about their rules.. Are International Students allowed to work during the first year of school?
you are not permited by canadian law to work off campus until after 6 months of maintaining a full time status and you will need to apply for a work permit to be able to do so. However, you can work on-campus where you are studying without any restrictions, so far you can secure an employment withing the campus. This is why I posted a link in my last post so that everyone will see and lean from the mistake of the two nigerian stundents. But since someone who is very current said its an old news, I guess i need to be careful not to post any stale news in future. But I must say, let us not use our replies and responses on this thread to discourage anyone that might have any valuable information that regards this thread. Goodluck 2 everyone.

eelmawaldi: Guys, me and my wife wants to give birth in US. Can somebody help which city would be the cheapest and safe also.

Thanks
I think a lot have been said on this forum about giving birth in the US. hoever, to answer your question, based on what people have been posting on this forum, only two hospitals are consistent because of the package they have for intending mothers. They are doctoresparati, el paso and MIHS, Phoenix and I think the later is the cheapest but I am still wandering why a lot of people are using el paso more despite the fact that is more expensive than MIHS. May be because of the fact that there are more possitive reviews of el paso. All in all, read through everything that have been said on this forum and make your choice. No one will give you anything different from what has already been posted. GL

forevermine: Hello house. Pls I have an enquiry to make and it's kinda urgent, so I'd appreciateany useful response, especially from anyone who's had a similar experience. Pls is it necessary to change my maiden name(surname) to my husbands , on my international passport? Does this mean I will be issued a new passport entirely or js a modification of the datapage of my current passprt( as I have evidence of travels on my current passport, though there's no valid visa). If I do,Will this affect my visa application(eg it may nt correspond wt d name on my bank statement, if I'm using mine) .also wen applying for the baby's passport in usa, will bearing my maiden name(in d event that I dnt change d passport) affect this? Pls I need clarification on what to do pertaining this situation. Thanks a bunch.
You don't need to change your current passport to the one that bears your husband's name. All you need to do is always provide proof of marriage which is your marriage certificate. However, you may want to change your name once the current passport expires. As per your baby's document, you'll only need you maiden name to do that. So nothing to be afraid of. You are good to go.

Good Job so far VO. Please I want your advice on this; my son is an american citizen but he's still a baby. Our intentions is for him to go back to the US when he's ready to start a prep school and at least I will like the mother to be able to stay with him over there to cater for his needs. In my opinion, I don't think she can do that with a non-immigrant visa. What in your opinion do you suggest we can do to achieve this? Anything you advice is alright by me. Thank you so much.

Hi Nairalanders, I have a son recently in the US. He's over one month old. I plan bringing him back to nigeria this month to take care of him here in nigeria and for him to be able to see his father. So I plan taking him back to america finally when he is one and for him to be able to start schooling there. My question now is, is it possible for me to apply for permanent residence with the status of my child as american citizen considering the fact that he cannot file for me at present until he turns 21. What is your take and advice ob this? Do I need to wait till he turns 21 or is there a way I can do this? Thank you for your honest answers.i
