NgeneUkwenu: lalasticlala biko e don happen Economic policy has been adrift since Mr Buhari came to power, and investors complain about the central bank’s use of trade controls and import restrictions. However, the new finance minister, an accountant who cleaned up the books of one of Nigeria’s smaller states, is poorly qualified for the job. Her counterpart in the investment ministry is a respected businessman, but he may lack the clout to stand up to a president with statist leanings. “It’s a government with local professionals and without superstars,” says Shehu Sani, a senator of the ruling party APC . |

Kyase: When he talked about gej you insulted him. Now you change gear. In criticizing Jonathan he was contradicting himself...How can someone who had the worst economic team achieve the under listed according to Soludo himself?... But, according to statistics from NBS, the PDP handed over a $550 billion economy (largest in Africa and 26th in the world), with 7.5% unemployment rate (better than European Union, France, Sweden, Belgium, etc although the underemployment figure is much higher); 32%?? poverty rate (as claimed by the former Finance Minister, or 61%??: NBS needs to clarify this claim); a stock of reserves of $30 billion; GDP growth rate averaging 6% over last 12 years; a relatively more diversified economy, with ICT penetration from 0.2% to over 60%, and a new contributory pension scheme now with trillions of Naira in pension fund. “Our external debt is down although total debt stock is escalating.
Our Gini coefficient (degree of inequality) is not different from China’s. Nigeria has consolidated and stronger banking system that currently finances both government debt and the private sector, with a relatively vibrant capital market. The capitalization of the Nigerian Stock Exchange grew from less than N1 trillion to N12 trillion as at handover. For the first time, Nigerian economy is now rated by credit rating agencies (Fitch, and Standard and Poor’s).” He told us where TI rated Nigeria but didn't tell us where they rated us in 2015 under Jonathan... He told us he should have saved more because his predecessor did save but failed to tell us that Jonathan had about 150% wage increase for civil servants and NYSC... Hatred makes people lose sense of reasoning... unfortunately truth like smoke will always find its way out with time...Just like buhari is continuing Jonathan agricultural innovation eg dry season farming using rice...auto policy etc |

Ever since Buhari assumed office; He has been clearing all the mess and Bobby traps set for him by the Last administration.
Imagine with the booming oil price over the years with a reserve left at over 150 billion dollars reserve Jonathan, Dansuki, Okonjo, Deziani and others depleted it to as low as 30 billion dollars with nothing to show for it. If Soludo acknowledged the quoted below and still called Jonathan as having the worst team then it means either Soludo is overrated or hatred is eating him up or political appointment is driving him crazy... Truth is Abia didn't get just 2billion...because aside her due allocation, she also gets 13% derivation etc unless they have been so indebted to banks that most of their allocations end up in debt servicing...Like I said ab initio, good financial management and sincerity in governance is key... |

Ponponkon: On Saturday, November 14, Governor Okezie Victor Ikpeazu of Abia State, paid an unofficial visit to his brother and friend, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah in Lagos. Governor Ikpeazu, during the visit, visited some facilities and establishments of Dr Ubah several locations in Lagos. Governor commended the Nnewi-born oil-magnet and industrialist for his business foresight, but reminded him of the need to invest in Abia State. Good to know he's talking with some already...But let him kindly remember that aside photo sessions and visits to them that there several factors that influence business decisions and sitting of industries or factories...So to what extent has he established these incentives to investment?...What development/industrial plan did he meet them with aside the usual think-home rhetoric ...Where specifically does he need each to come in and invest?... What's the sustainability of his plans? |

Let's give the new government time to work. 1)No it can't be done at once...but I hope he isn't trying to buy people over only to backslide to status quo once he's bought their emotions...I wish Abia can compete with Anambra positively because she has got the potential... 2)Has Ikpeazu considered meeting with some sane Southeast governors cum businessmen for sort of contributory project of mutual importance eg Seaport...Sourcing funding for such project through PPP involving indigenous government and indigenous businessmen isn't hard...It needs just sincerity and dedication...Developing Abia vis a vis Southeast economy should be of Paramount importance to any progressive and sincere leader now... 3)Poor allocation isn't a problem... Good financial management is the ONLY thing required...Peter Obi set Anambra on solid infrastructure and financial setting with NO loan but more savings, while his colleagues were rushing to take loans... 4)Ability to cut off sycophants and godfathers is key here...Masses will support him 200% if he's found to be sincere...Peter Obi proved this against Obj in 2003/2007... more later...kudos |

Aufbauh: Op you have to do more research before you come into conclusion by just relying on someone's knowledge that maybe inconclusive.
An ‘ethnic group’ has been defined as a group that regards itself or is regarded by others as a distinct community by virtue of certain characteristics that will help to distinguish the group from the surrounding community. Ethnicity is considered to be shared characteristics such as culture, language, religion, and traditions, which contribute to a person or group’s identity.
Ethnicity has been described as residing in:
• the belief by members of a social group that they are culturally distinctive and different to outsiders;
• their willingness to find symbolic markers of that difference (food habits, religion, forms of dress, language) and to emphasise their significance; and
• their willingness to organise relationships with outsiders so that a kind of ‘group boundary’ is preserved and reproduced
This shows that ethnicity is not necessarily genetic. It also shows how someone might describe themselves by an ethnicity different to their birth identity if they reside for a considerable time in a different area and they decide to adopt the culture, symbols and relationships of their new community.
It is worth noting that the Traveller Community is recognised as a distinct ethnic group in the UK and Northern Ireland, but only as a distinct cultural group in the Republic of Ireland. smh... 1)Which part of my post did the bolded contradict? 2)Nationalizing in a country grants you legal authority to be called an indigene but doesn't confer the moral cum cultural identity of same people on you...A British nationalizing in my community can become one of us...but can easily be picked out by a visitor... 3)And nationalization has NOTHING to do with ethnic identity... don't mix up the two...Ethnicity is more of a "natural" occurance while the other is "nurture" occurance ... |
