A nation is as transparent as its media. A nation is also as corrupt as its media. The more corrupt a nation's media is, the more corrupt that nation is also. In fact, the corruption of a nation is directly proportional to the corruption of its media. You can also replace the word 'media' with 'social critics' and the import of the sentence is still the same.
ACN/APC used & uses this to the fullest albeit negatively hence anybody found in the wrong books of Tinubu is visited with unending blackmail and vicious attacks from the media...Same people introduced or brought into our system online paid agents who distort facts and truths daily in favour of their masters... |

ronald4lif: This article is deep and deserve to make front page on all national dailies and let the debate begin. I have always opined that a nation full of hypocrisy is doomed and won't make progress.
Jonathan was corrupt and looted our common patrimony massively, granted, but he's not the only corrupt politician in Nigeria and any fight against corruption must not only be seen as all encompassing, it must be fair.
It is note worthy to point out that the self-styled saint Tinubu, Fashola, Amaechi ati Turaki of Adamawa Atiku are product of corruption as non of them can honestly beat their chest and lay claim they have never lay hands on public funds. These are individuals who are millionaire in dollars and has only hold public office through out their lifetime. It's pertinent that they give account of their stewardship to the expropriated Nigerian masses who have suffered for too long by our heartless leaders and their proteges.
Buhari might mean well for Nigeria but if he want to be taken serious and seen as incorrupt he must not engage in selective justice but prosecute everyone whose wealth is questionable. Favouritism and nepotism are an offshoot of corruption and must be shun if we as a nation, clamouring for change, want to make progress. Can you substantiate the bolded plz...? |

Goke7: Anybody who takes Fayose's statements against PMB's government does not know Nigerian Politcians very well, Fayose only brags in the open but will go behind to beg and apologise, even in the days where Tinubu was fighting obj, Tinubu will blast obj in the open but will go and beg baba in ota later. same thing with Jona and all his people, they were abusing Tinubu before the elections in the open but were begging him privately to dump PMB then. You will the SE and SS politicians and Governors abusing Obj that he is irrelevant but will later go and beg him in ota. This is Nigerian Polticians for you.
So all of you always praising Fayose for his statements should know this. |

They have forgotten that an Ex Presi "did not give a damn" about asset declaration. Any elected officials that has no skeleton in his/her cupboard would declare it without fear. baby124: Our states are absolutely ridiculous with how they approve outrageous loans for themselves. Something has to be done about that. They must be able to defend their loan request to Nigerians with some guarantee of pay back, and certain consequences for contractors and the governors who take out the debt Unfortunately, even buhari isn't sincere in this...He had to compensate Oshiomole who has less than 6months left as governor with $75million foreign loan amidst this analogue CBN dollar policy that's killing SME's... And granted bailout to governors who are mostly APC without ascertaining why some of them especially those in 2nd term were in such financial mess when some are doing very well with no debts at all....Isn't it sort of rewarding thieves with more incentives?...Isn't it encouraging profligacy & treasury looting?...Did he put any measure to check abuse of such bailout like they did previous allocations?...NONE... Maybe because he benefited from such looting through his campaign funding by them |

baralatie: it still think PMB should get a RECOGNISED AND EXPERIENCED FINANCE AND ECONOMIST O someone who is familiar with working against the ropes(I.e. will deliver positive results in a year)
1,with no doubt, the easy way out is the obj/iweala plan(at least shed between 30% -40% of the local debt) and follow on some specifications as highlighted. we will be hitting positive indices!! With how Oshiomole, Amechi and co blackmailed and insulted Iweala notwithstanding her achievements even to the extent of ridiculing and forcing Yale to withdraw their award to her albeit without success; I believe every other renowned economist will have to think twice before jumping to serve Nigeria... |

baby124: It is not really that hard to investigate all that. Money always leaves a track record. His economic team can do that in the interim while also doing their work. In the interim, the government needs to take away the absolute power of idiotic state governments being able to borrow money at will through approval of their fellow thieves in state house of assembly. Without a viable plan, such borrowings should not be approved. This will cut down the ability of governors and their co-conspirators to put the country into more debt. See Ekiti already entering how many billions of debt, I am not sure if they have any sure plans sef. I am not sure about when all the debt you talk about was taken out. [s]But I have to guess in the last 5yrs. OBJ the old fox outwitted these foreign swindlers into debt forgiveness and took to his heels. This past government for sure put us back into that debt. I doubt very much that this debt is coming from Abacha's regime. I will do some investigation and get back[/s] https://www.nairaland.com/2333619/okonjo-iweala-jonathan-incurred-21bn-63bnCc. baralatie |

Abagworo: The reality is that our dependence on oil and failure to utilise the opportunities when oil prices were high has made our monotonous economy a victim. A golden opportunity was mismanaged. Our major hope is to reduce importation and encourage local production.
Having inherited a near collapsed economy at a time oil prices are nosediving, Buhari just like in 1983 has a serious economic task ahead. Emefiele's Dollar policy is helping save our economy from free fall while it affects the advantages of our situation to the Western capitalists. This threat is meant to force Nigeria allow that free fall. Are you permanently configured to be a liar and sadist Which economy is being saved when businesses are closing shops or downsizing or placing embargo on employment?... Do you know the negative multiplier effect of these? |
