Federal Ministry of Finance and the Director of Subsidy Reinvestment Programme, SURE-P Graduate Internship Scheme, GIS, have been accused of diverting over N3billion meant for the payment of the participants. The money is allegedly meant for the payment of the stipends of the 17,500 participants for eight months which never got to them. The SURE-P GIS is a component of the SURE-P domiciled in the Federal Ministry of Finance. It was learnt that while the ministry claims that the GIS has 30,000 graduate interns, there were only 12,500 participants. At a press briefing yesterday in Abuja, Chairman of the SURE-P GIS Employers’ Forum and Managing Director, Forcecom Networks Limited, Mr. Paul Okafor, alleged that all these years, Nigerians were being misinformed and misled by the Project Director, SURE-P GIS, Mr. Pakpa and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Anastasia Nwobiala. He accused them of being economical with the truth that there were over 30, 000 Nigerian youths benefitting from the scheme. Okafor said the actual beneficiaries are only 12,500 nationwide. The ministry had earlier accused Forcecom Networks Limited of forging its log sheet to deceive the public about its activities. The ministry also accused the company of coercing the interns to pay N7,000 into its company’s account. But Okafor denied all the allegations, saying that the interns were not working for the Federal Government, but the employers. He explained that SURE-P GIS works like the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, adding that since the Federal Government had already posted them to these companies; it was the responsibility of the firms to use them in whatever capacity they want. Okafor said the interns in Forcecom had not received their stipends for eight months, adding that the unpaid stipends had been appropriated. He stressed that they were just asking the National Assembly and other concern bodies to intervene. He clarified that they had 5,260 employers and 12,500 interns under GIS. Okafor lamented that over N5million was spent by the ministry in advert placement on the purported termination of the partnership with Forcecom following its recent protest to the National Assembly. He, therefore, called on anti-graft agencies to probe what he described as “last minute massive looting.” http://nigerianpilot.com/n3bn-scandal-hits-sure-p/ |

I don't believe your " ;Dsauce " but if it turns out be true, it will be adhere by all when another bill is being made to send looters like 90% of them to 7*7 years in prison. Am not into the business and am not supporting them, I don't see a reason while you punish someone for stealing and look the other way when you embezzle funds. Oh! i almost forgot (in jona's voice "people now compare mere stealing to corruption) #sicknation |

Plot or no plot, Chief Tony Obuh is the next Governor. Okowa sold his mandate to uduaghan way back in 2003. |

Alikaxon: u'll create a topic to expose..." "? If only the argument is tenable. Let me wait 4 ur next topic. Meanwhile, I didn't create dis thread to decimate you, I am just correcting some wrong impression. We all are one, so lets corporate to move our town forward. I will follow u, make sure u follow me bak... (onu kokome, o gbu ofifi) laughs... |
ifyalways: Windows, so what really do you want? The soldiers to go?i will always prefer soldiers but their modus operandi needs to change. |
Alikaxon: you all my brothers have seen my view, and it pains me most that the moderators are yet to consider this thread for front page, a subject like this of high importance to correct the wrong impression he gave to all Nigerians and beyond, he lied against the good soldiers that are securing our lives. Pls moderators, I beg.I have a feeling that either you part of those that make friends with them and use them to oppress anyone that comes your way or you are just an ordinary living thing. |
5columnist: I am beginning to think we have people who are not morally challenged by crime on Nairaland. Windows8 and many like him are questionable. Kidnapping, stealing or killing anybody is wrong! Our youths have become very indisciplined, thus they tolerate crime without understanding the weight of their actions when caught.I never made a case to create a good environment for criminals to thrive and i never said they should leave. Reading is one thing and understanding is another, your obviously lack either one of them |
Alikaxon: I am from Agbor, a bonafide citizen, and I live here. I was shocked to see a post from "windows8" that; "soldiers are terrorizing the people of Agbor, Delta state" Since the soldiers were deployed to Agbor, the town has been very peaceful, criminal activities has been minimal. The people in Agbor can now sleep with two eyes closed, as against the case of before, when armedrobbery, kidnapping and even killings were very rampant; the cult groups were worst, they terrorised every part of Agbor. In not too long ago, when robbers attarked a bank in Agbor, the soldiers demonstrated professionalism in chasing and giving the robbers the usual jungle justice. I am afraid of anyone who will want the soldiers to go away from Agbor; so that our lives will no longer be safe? The army will never harrass you when you are well behaved, when you obey law and oder. The "windows8" was accusing the elders and even the Dein of Agbor for not driving away the soldiers. That is totally senceless; how could you expect the "Dein" to drive away the people that are making his kingdom peaceful? Please moderators, due to the importance of this topic, I'll like it to be on front page in other not to only clear the false information of the former poster, but also to save the good image of the Nigerian hardworking soldiers. They work hard to protect us, we should not bring bad name to them. God bless Agbor, God bless Nigeria. Before i reply you, i want you to know that there is never a part in my post that i said that the army should go away. Am from Agbor too, the town has been peaceful and i agree to that, their presence has made people to do what is right and at the right time. What i don't like is the way they are ripping people off their hard earned money and punish innocent people. Do you know the number of bikes they take to the police station everyday? mind you the bikes riders are not guilty of anything. whose account does the money been paid for the release of the bikes go to? do u know that they collect #6000 every week from the various motor parks in Agbor, if they are here to protect us, why are they milking us dry? why would i want to pass front of their building and be made to cut grass for them? why will they go to bar and restaurants and take whatever they like without paying a dime? Those of you accusing me of being a kidnapper should continue, it wont stop me from saying the truth. Am glad am not the only one who feels the pain of my people. Check the previous post and see for yourself |
