Car Talk / I Am About To Buy My First SUV: Kindly Advise by Wisdom2003: 8:25pm On Dec 04, 2022
Good evening Nairalanders,

I have driven different sedan in the last 10 years.

However due to the reality on ground I believe it’s time for me to get an SUV but my budget is between 2M and 2.5M (Max).

I am definitely looking at getting a Naija used SUV.

I am looking at Honda Pilot, Highlander, Honda Element or Rx 300.

Kindly advise on the brands above and the likely prices for a healthy Naija used suv.

Thank you.

Travel / Re: Flying Green Africa Airways For The First Time And A Review Of Akure Airport by Wisdom2003: 4:03pm On Jul 03, 2022
Bbsharon:
Recently I had to travel from Abuja to Akure in and on the first thought I had plans to go with Airpeace as they are obviously the biggest carrier in Nigeria for local flights and have been around for long and since they also go to Akure they were my first option.

I checked up for the ticket for Airpeace and it was not sold out so I had two options left, Overland Airways and the new Airline in Nigeria which is Green Africa Airways.

I wanted by all means to avoid Nigeria new airlines and thought to go for the Overland but then the curious nature in me could not bring myself to book the ticket so I checked the Green Africa Airways and finally made my bookings with them and that's how my first experience with them came to be.

Basically I will be giving an overview review of the airline from my own perspective and experience using them and also how the Airport in Akure looks like.

Great review dear.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: What Employees Go Through In The Hands Of Some Employers In Nigeria by Wisdom2003: 8:30pm On Jun 28, 2022
Pauldollars:
If you were making ordinary doughnuts, buns and others to sell or had a small business of your own like a photocopy business centre, phone repairs or other kinds of business, you wouldn't be making this complaints about any boss that didn't pay you salary.

Try and establish something and leave all these small small private schools and firms that pay chicken change you can make in a day from your own business.

I’m not trying to judge.

But I am privileged to have worked for people for almost 6 years before starting my coy.

A most of the folks that comes online to rant “employers are evil” are either lazy or place so much value on themselves than their intrinsic value.

A lot of them come very late to work and carry out their duties shabbily and not ready to learn.

Some lack spirit of ownership and they allow clients to slip off without care (she bi salary is sacrosanct)

Every reasonable employer wants to keep his best hands and treat them right.

My former employer took care of us yet some folks stole his money 6.5M, 5M and 5M respectively.

Please let’s evaluate ourselves before we come online. If you think you deserved to be treated better then resign and move on to a place where you will be celebrated.

The mental health of some employers needs urgent attention based on the way their employees handled their business

#stopranting
Thank you

It is very safe. Go to Circle in Accra and ask of Elubo bus. ( Try as much as you can to get Elubo direct) Hold some money for the Ghana police on the way and avoid any form of arguments with them if you are a Nigerian (They hate Nigerians). When you get to Elubo, I will advise you cross the border with other travelers (you will cross through water as the border is still closed). The agents will take you to the park (Côte d'Ivoire side) Join a bus going to Abidjan or if you want it faster, board the one going to Aboisso (1k-1k500). From Aboisso, board MD Transport to Abidjan (2k). Note, you will still settle police (around 7k) from the park to Abidjan. Safe trip

is there no other way of visiting Abidjan that is legit?

I don’t feel comfortable crossing a border that is set to be officially closed.

Kindly share more light on this or advise on any other neighboring country that I can visit.

Thank you.

Honestly, there's no fixed cost but hold like 15k Fcfa for Ghana police, 15k Fcfa for border crossing, 7k Fcfa for Ivorian police, transport 15k Fcfa.
Note: All the given amounts are just estimates, it may be lower

Ghana to Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire is very safe by road although it is a long journey but there is security all through the road and street lights if you wish to travel by night. Most of the southern west African cities are free of terrorism especially cities along the waterways. Just make sure you hold a valid passport and proof of accommodation both in Ghana and Abidjan. You can book online before you leave and it would really help if you understand a little bit of French.

Ans whatever you do pls do not miss your departure time. Au revoir!!!

Thanks Baba
