sidixon: Wise One, that's the wise way to go..! Abeg how much for 2yrs employment visa..?? ..especially for the doubting Thomas dem I have no idea on cost of employment visa as it's mostly done by employers, but from what I have seen and heard in UAE direct employment visa for Africans are mostly outdoor jobs or jobs people won't like/be able to do, I advise anyone with interest to work in UAE to come on tourist visa and select the job themselves. Most direct employment visa ends with heart breaking stories. I maybe wrong this is just my opinion based on what I have seen and heard in UAE |

I personally went to visa offices in Dubai, visa for Nigerian the list amount I saw is 1400dhs for 90 days, but the problem is you must make a security deposit of 2500dhs minimum I saw so total 1400 + 2500, agents that collects cheaper are people who have already built trust with the tour company.
Nigerians are funny some people will come and refuse to exist when there visa expires, so the agent is in trouble. Hence people don't do visa for people they don't trust and again to do Visa for Nigerians one cannot easily find a tour company that does that.
I promised my agent to do things rightly before he aggreed to help me with my visa, and God helped me to keep to my promise. |

Bobbyunitedfc: The way we talk here about changing jobs after 6months as if its very easy to do.... I thought it was but now that am in the system the shit sucks... I got to know that UAE labour laws does not really apply to all, the 45 free zones in the country has different employment laws, so what works in Sharjah free zone does not necessarily work at hamriya or ajman free zone..
My company, for u to cancel after 6months u Gona pay the sum of 3000aed, our boss calls it visa fee, but I think he does that to scare people even though it's in the contract we signed, the last person to cancel payed sha o, am still yet to visit Sharjah Free zone to find out what it entails if I wana cancel after 6months..
Been 3months already like play like play December I go be 6months, the beauty of this country is when goin to deira to pay money to my account, the feeling is bliss, even tho na change I dey collect...
Sad thing about me living here so far is my family, I miss them like crazy... To me family is everything. Abeg how do you send money home from Deira? |

SLYSIM: Thanks to all nairalanders on this thread, this thread has been very educative and provides first-hand information. Kudos to you guys. I will need advice on the viability of getting project management or engineering job and the best emirate country one can consider traveling to. I read Electrical Engineering and have a considerable experience in engineering project management and electrical engineering design/installations. Have gotten PMP certification and preparing for PRINCE 2. Dubai, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait are on my mind anyway. Advice on any of these countries where there are better opportunities for electrical engineers/project managers and construction works with good pay will be highly appreciated. NNONYG, Nattybanta, Justi4Jesu, Justwise and all other experienced guys in this thread pls help me. Thank u very much You have very high expectations, I have certifications too and electrical electronics engineering certificate, but this country doesn't work like that, here in UAE, you can't say this the kind of Job I want or will get... Only God decides, come with all your certificates to UAE... But the chances of getting an Engineering job is 1/100 |

Greetings everyone, it will be unfair for me not to comment, I got to UAE some months ago, it was difficult at first, I lost hope on job, but like magic I got a good job... employment visa and all has been done. My conclusion about UAE is that only God decides who gets successfully in terms of job search, and dont come to UAE with a particular kind of job in mind, because it will demoralize you. prepare for the worst and the best, and once ur tourist visa is about to expire leave UAE back home or do visa change! never u become a TECO! .... Thanks to all the guy here in UAE taking time to respond to peoples questions on nairaland, u guys are great! I cant even take such time to respond after work because I get very tired... Bye Guys... Make I sleep |

NONNYG: 1. yes but be prepared for their drama, they may call you after you have made payment asking you to make additional payment due to increase in fares. They did it to me, asking me to pay additional 20k THEIR FADA. i no pay shaa
2. Use booking.com, but you don't need to make payment. don't show the yeye immigration until they demand for it
3. Change ur naira to dollar and back to dirhams when you arrive UAE. leave credit card issue aside for now
4. you can get metro card at metro stations. i guess its around 20aed. though am not sure. it comes with some credit. one month unlimited access is around 200 or 250aed. while using DO NOT forget to always tag out, else ur money go waka
5. Sims are very expensive in airport, Du is sold for 10aed on the streets (diera & satwa) while etisalat is btw 15 to 25aed. in terms of network coverage throughout UAE, etisalat is better but their least card denomination is 20aed while du is 10aed
6. Sure, as long as u no hide drugs inside
7. If you're first time traveler, YES. the amount you go drop depends on your bargaining power
8. just reserved like 5 to 10k for the idiots
