Politics › Re: Let Aba Produce NYSC Uniforms - Ikpeazu, Takes Samples To NYSC DG (Pics) by Wiseandtrue(f): 3:54pm On Mar 01, 2017 |
UNIZIK1stSon: Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu has urged the management of the NYSC to give Aba tailors and shoe makers the chance to produce the complete NYSC uniform from the caps to the boots.
Governor Ikpeazu made this request during his visit to the Director General of the NYSC, Brigadier General Sule Kazaure at the headquarters of the corps in Abuja yesterday.
The Governor who has been on a series of economic diplomatic shuttles with a view to expanding and deepening the business potentials of Aba and Abia State told the DG that the Aba garment and leather industries are fully prepared, ready and able to deliver all the uniforms to be worn by corp members across the country.
As a demonstration of his seriousness, the Governor presented the DG with samples of each of the components of the NYSC uniform made in Aba.
In response, the DG told Dr Ikpeazu that he is completely surprised that such high quality products can be sourced in Aba and at a more competitive price and assured the Governor that his management team will immediately commence negotiations to make this happen.
He also thanked the Governor for the series of support he has rendered to the NYSC in Abia Atate which includes donating a brand new generating set and a brand new female Hostel at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp at Umunna, Bende LGA.

Ioannes: [s]I'm quoting the nonsense you wrote.
Reading only the heading you flew off the handle and concluded that Lagos government is about to employ only Yorubas as teachers.
But simply reading through would have told you that the position to be filled by these teachers is as Yoruba Language tutors. [/s] [s]But you saw the word Yoruba and your blood started boiling. Smh.
I'm sure you think you can speak Yoruba, but speaking Yoruba and actually teaching Yoruba are two very different thing. [/s] When you have eaten and refreshed go back and read calmly. Pele |

CFCman: I'm thinking along those lines too. Recall that Aero Contractors has also been taken over by AMCON; now Arik is under govt control too. It could be that the FG wants to merge both airlines to form the new national carrier, after paying off the debts of both airlines. In the end, Nigeria could have 3 strong airlines - the national carrier, Medview, and Air Peace - plying long haul international routes. I seriously hope so. That Nigeria acquires it and not individual. For better maintenance. In any case Nigeria needs to learn how to make the country business friendly. This will put the mind of the investors at ease and they would want to invest here. |

Sanchez01: Take Nairaland as a case study and you'd understand what I mean.
Stop this, please! I know where you're headed but quite frankly, it is a norm in Nigeria. I served in Enugu and would authoritatively tell you that EVERY SUBJECT TEACHER in the school I served in were all Igbos. It was so bad that they teach English Language with Igbo. These things are common everywhere. I have been to well over 13 states in the country and the same game applies.
It is even worse in the South East, believe me. You might choose to play the down trodden, cheated fellow, but it does not change the fact that this is a disturbing trend in the country and it does not exclude any geopolitical zone. That is the problem of this our great country So everyone is doing it he should too I am sorry I will not take that as each of them have their names. If Governor Ambode is a man of integrity, He will uphold his electoral promises. I remembered he promised to rule with equity amongst ALL. IGBO, HAUSA AND YORUBA |

I know that they are lacking in so many ways but on a second thought is their environment business friendly I hope someone who wants to buy ARIK is not playing pranks on them and they are falling into the trap I mean how come AMCON is recently active

Sanchez01: Separatists, tribalists who use derogatory remarks just to slight and hurt one another. Don't blame the state government for this. Blame the people. Okay I will do that when the people are the government and not the leaders. I am still trying to differentiate between the people and A LEADER If na to steal money now, it will go to the leaders but blames Give it to the people. I don't hate our leaders on the contrary I am only describing my observation. |

Sanchez01: I get your point. One of my teachers way back then in secondary was an Igbo woman married to a Yoruba man. Mrs Anifowose's understanding of the Yoruba language is impeccable. She was my motivation for taking the Yoruba language at the time.
Fast forward to the present day, it is not just about 'teaching' or understanding Yoruba as a non-native speaker. If you don't have at least an NCE or B.Ed, you won't be considered surely. The educational sector has taken quite a beating in the past and this is why you see a failed lawyer taking up a teaching job to becoming a government teacher.
Then again, you must understand that the instruction, according to the National curriculum says that every Nigerian student must be able to fluently speak and write at least a Nigerian language. The Hausas have been doing this perfectly and effortlessly, the same applies to some parts of the SW such as Osun and Oyo state.
Truth is, we don't expect another Nigerian language to be given due attention like the Yoruba language because Lagos, though often called a no man's land, belongs to the Yorubas. The same applies to Enugu. You don't expect another Nigerian language to flourish more than the Igbo language, else a possible case of extinction might occur.
Bottom line: So long you towed the teaching line as a Yoruba graduate, where you are from doesn't really matter. Most Yoruba folks around today can't even speak and write the Yoruba language as I do, let alone understand its orthography called 'akotan'. I want to believe that you are speaking for yourself, from a genuine heart but I am not talking about you. I am talking about Ambode who despite his good electoral promises is selective in his employment. He only favours the Yorubas. The government of those day preach peace and unity. You get to any government settings, you feel you are a Nigerian and every students related so well with the teachers. They don't feel out of place. In the school, you will find Igbo, Hausa, Yoruba both amongst the pupils and the teachers but now what do we have |

Sanchez01: Open your eyes and see the true picture, this has got nothing to do with one Nigeria or otherwise. We have so many native speakers who don't understand their Orthographies. The implication is that they might be able to speak but not write. It is affecting my Urhobo till date. I learnt Yoruba in school, took my time in researching and studying its orthographies, as well as rules. All thanks to that, I'm multi-lingual today.
Almost all Nigerian languages are dying. Every state Government must understand that it is their sole responsibility to uphold and protect the tradition and culture of where they govern. It cannot be the English language all the time. Understand me, I am not interested. Before now sey na Igbo or Hausa him dey employ
If Ambode see other natives that can teach Yoruba so well, will he employ them
So enough of these hype in the social media. |
