if you counter it makes no difference, as water temperature increase oxygen increases & otherwise,get an equipment that measures oxygen & still do your research on & offline & come back.

The specific detail you will measure,since we are talking fishfarming & its survival, measure the concentration of your oxygen at night & early in the morning. That is critical time that most fishes die,get disease etc.

Any hatchery that could be worthwhile should be in an enclose place, though you can still hatch in the open. For hatchery, your primary concern is the first 30 hours, at least for your fishes to hatch successfully,which your aquarium heater or coal can enable you achieve.

About fears of using coal? you don't fan your coals within the hatchery, you bring in an already prepared coal after all the so called preambles had being done outside. A coal that fumes or smokes isn't a good coal. Yes they will burn,but not produce fumes that can be considered unbearable. Though i would still encourage that you cover your tanks with either a non toxic leather or used long span roofing sheets or anything that you consider handy to prevent heat loss or generate heat.

It is also wise to understand times and season, reason is someone that decides to hatch at night on a rainy day should know that those eggs or fries will have an extremely cold night and cold water processes low oxygen[b][/b].

All the big names or farms you hear of or see understands this, hence they develop enabling environment using technology as heaters and chillers to prevent times with season dictating when they should be in business.

Do the one you can comfortably afford now and as you grow, you cannot neglect technology. For the issue of light, you have to look for means, government cannot be an excuse to fail.

Cold water can hold more dissolved oxygen than warm water and fresh water can hold more dissolved oxygen than salt water. So the warmer and saltier the water, the less dissolved oxygen there can be. The maximum amount of dissolved oxygen that the water can hold is called the saturation value.

i am not your boss. Using well water isn't a problem,provided the PH is good.I had be using well in all my work,except the farm at jabata,Oyo state,war college at gwariinpa,abuja & the training in benin,Edo state. About your water not totally colourless? have you tried to filter(wise to have them,even if your water is looking clear), also is your water ok to even see your fries at all? if not,i would advice you get a means through filteration to at least attain it. I would have given you a straight yes,but i try to give what could be common solution that could easily be attain,not exceptional cases
