I agree with Smokyasl that it is safer not to rely on a printout. I can only tell you what I did for my own student visa, which was to take original documents to the appointment, and I have not seen the Lagos consulate's current position on digital WAEC printouts in writing, so I will not tell you it is fine. Before your interview date, check the document checklist on the consulate's own website, and if it is still unclear, get the original certificate or a confirmation of results from WAEC so you are not risking a refused document on the day. Better to lose a few days now than your slot.

Not possible without German. Studienkolleg is taught fully in German and the entrance test is B2 level in practice, even where the Kolleg says B1. So step one is German classes in Nigeria (Goethe Institut Lagos or a good private school) up to at least B1.

On the language visa: I would avoid it. It is tied to the course and does not convert cleanly into a study visa, so people end up flying back to Nigeria to start over. The correct visa for his case is the student applicant visa (Studienbewerbervisum). It is made for people who still need to do a Studienkolleg or entrance test, it uses the same blocked account of EUR 11,904, and it converts into a full student visa inside Germany once he passes and gets admission.

Order: German to B1, apply to Studienkollegs, then apply for the applicant visa.

Congratulations on passing the assessment, that is the part that actually decides whether you have a case, and you have cleared it. What is left is paperwork, and paperwork is slow rather than hard.

The reason it feels complex is that the points assessment and the visa application are two different things and the thread mixes them together. The assessment tells you that you qualify. The application is where you prove each point you claimed, one document at a time. So do not read the whole thread again. Take your own assessment result, write down every point you claimed, and next to each one write which document proves it. Degree, recognition status, language certificate, work experience letters, funds. That list is your application.

Two things I would be careful about, because both cost months. First, upload what you actually have rather than what you wish you had. A claimed point with no document behind it is worse than a point you never claimed at all. Second, keep every original, and take them with you on the day even if you already uploaded them.

Tell us which points you claimed and where you are stuck and I will go through it with you here. You should not have to pay anyone to fill a form.

Please is there anyone with an experience with any of these financing companies that claim you will pay some certain fee and then they will open an account in your name under edubao. They will lock some amount that you won't have access to and then you have access to the rest. Anyone with an experience to know if they are legit?

Edubao itself is genuine, so start from there. It is an established provider, it states that it is BaFin regulated and approved by the German Federal Foreign Office, and German missions accept it. You can also open one directly on their own website with no middleman at all, and their site says that takes minutes.

Now the part that matters for your actual question. Edubao openly runs a partner programme for recruitment agencies, so an agent arranging an Edubao account for you is a normal channel and not by itself a sign that something is wrong. The middleman is not automatically the problem. What decides it is one question: whose money is going into that account?

If you are depositing your own funds and they are only handling the paperwork, then the fee is buying you form filling, and you should weigh that against opening it yourself on their site and paying only the provider's own charge. If they are the ones putting money in to make up the amount, and taking it back once your visa is issued, walk away from it. Those funds are not yours, the mission is being shown money that is going to disappear, and if it unravels it is your visa and your name on the file, not the agent's.

Two checks before any money moves. The account must be in your name with your own login details, and the monthly payouts must land in your own German account after you arrive. And look hard at how they described it to you, because a normal blocked account locks the whole amount and releases it to you month by month. An arrangement where part of it is locked away and you get "the rest" is not the standard product, so make them put in writing exactly what they mean by it before you pay anything.

I funded my own blocked account when I came, so I know the figure is big enough to make a shortcut look attractive. That is exactly where people lose money.

Yes, that is a real option, and you do not have to drop the Chancenkarte queue to look at it. They are separate applications and being on one waiting list does not stop you preparing the other.

I came on the study route myself, so I can tell you how it runs from Nigeria rather than guessing. Pick your programmes, apply through uni-assist where the university uses it. That costs EUR 75 for your first application and EUR 30 for each further one in the same semester's application period, so applying to several at once is much cheaper than people expect. Get the APS started early, because that is the step that quietly eats the most time and almost nobody plans for it. Then admission, then proof of funds, which for most people is the blocked account at EUR 11,904 for the year with EUR 992 released to you monthly, then the visa fee at EUR 75.

Watch deadlines rather than intake dates. Applications close well before the semester starts, and missing that by a week costs you a full semester, not a week.

On the rejections, let me be straight with you, I do not know that your Nigerian address is the cause. It is a common theory on here and I have never seen anything that actually proves it, so I would not build a plan around it. What I do know is that for a data engineer the thing that genuinely changes how employers read you is already having the right to work in Germany, and studying here is one way to get that while you build local experience and a local network. That is the real argument for the study route in your position, not the address.

Thank you, glad it helped. Let me answer straight, but with one correction first, because otherwise my timeline will mislead you.

I did not come on the Chancenkarte. I came on the study route, so my clock and my legal position were different from yours. As a student I could work from day one within the student allowance, which is 140 full days or 280 half days a year, and I was not under pressure to find qualified work inside a fixed window the way a Chancenkarte holder is. That difference matters more than any number I could give you.

For what it is worth on my side, my first paid work in Germany came within a few months of arriving, and it was not in my field. It was practical work while I studied. My field is digital marketing, and building anything in that direction has been the slower, longer project running underneath. I say that plainly because the thing I see people underestimate is not how hard it is to get any job, it is how long it takes to get the job you actually came for.

The honest lesson for anyone incoming, whichever route you take: land with more months of money than you think you need, and start applying before you fly, not after. The people who struggle are almost never the ones who lacked skill. They are the ones whose money ran out during the search.

On the sponsorship letter question, the original is what you need. The formal obligation letter your sponsor signs in Germany is issued by the Auslaenderbehoerde there, and what they hand your sponsor is an original document with a stamp and a serial number on it. That stamp is the thing the embassy is checking, and a printout of a scan does not carry it.
DHL from Germany to Lagos or Abuja is usually a few days, so ask your sponsor to send it as soon as it is issued rather than waiting until your appointment is close. Keep the scan as well, it is useful for filling forms and for your own records, but do not plan to walk in with only a printout.

One thing worth knowing before you go far down this road. The obligation letter is not the only way to prove funds, and it is not always the easiest, because your sponsor has to show the German office they earn enough to cover you. If your sponsor is not comfortable with that, the blocked account route is the more common path for us.

Mass Communication or related courses here in Germany are mostly 100% in the German Language for tuition-free universities. Nevertheless, you can get an admission slot in private universities but they are relatively expensive. How good is your German?

Most people believe that only the visa agents can help them get visa, but the truth is that most visa agent don't have the accurate information for visa matters.

Its a pity a lot of people still don't know of this thread...i asked if he knows about nairaland and he was dumbfounded...He was really scattered today and i pitied him...he was forced to go home and Paulinus made mockery of him with the mopol men...

And for those planning to go for interview with cheap courier envelope... Pls think twice.. Go and buy the popular envelope everyone one is aware of...like DHL, FEDex ... If u bring cheap ones that is struggling to get name, Paulinus will use u and shine o.

After a long awaited interview, it finally happened today....

Lodged with some frnds at Hotel de campbel which happens to be very affordable(N3000) and well furnished..located at Marina which is just 10 minutes to the embassy.

We got to the embassy around 4:20am, waited for them to open the gate and as usual those business guys who are trying to open office on our heads were there deceiving those novice(thanks to nairaland and whatsapp groups for making us wise).

At 5am d gate was open and i became number 4 on the queue.. At around 6am the VOs started coming into the premises one after d other...

Immediately the VO with dreads walked into d premisses and greated, i shouted (blood of Jesus) i was gripped with fear of her sight.. And i started casting any thing that will lead me to her counter...At around 6:45am the Almighty Paulinus came in singing and praise God in his mother tongue(igbo language) and at sharp 7am, the numbers of applicants for student visa were already 45..he started calling us in.. First 5... I was so happy to be among the first 5... Oga paulinus as usual was feeling bossy and being strict trying to put fear on everyone...he asked the first 5 of us to put our appointment letter inside our passports..

After placing us on how to stand, he asked us to bring out our application form and signed declaration. As i was just about to search for my own, he just shouted as me and asked me to leave chained court and go to the queue for no just reason. I was now trying to beg and understand what mistake i have made to warrant such... The man asked me to go to the end of the line.... Me that was once number 4 became number 45.. I felt really bad.. While my frnds had entered..

At around 8am, the numbers on queue was 60...we all had to stand.. Gradually wen it was 12.30pm it got to my turn again.. I was checked in after arranging my documents according to Paulinus checklist... We still waited for about 2 hour again inside the main embassy and wen it finally got to my turn, Low ans behold met my worst fear(the VO on dreads).

She just bone her face... My heart started pounding cus i heard she gives Maths to BSc students.

Pls note this* for those who haven't gone for interview, try to bring all ur complete documents and make 2 photocopies of each docs. Paulinus is not smiling in regards to a missing document. He chased some persons home and that was d end of their interview..
Those using agent pls know know that u are on ur own during the interview. A guy that went through an agent came for interview today without a visa fee..he said he had paid d agent already. Unfortunately there was no bank around to withdraw. Funny enough this guy didn't bring Motivation letter, waec scratch card and most other documents. Oga Paulinus didn't waste time to send him home..pls come really prepared. Regards.

I actually got my US visa application denied twice and Germany been my second choice I'm considering applying to a university as not to keep wasting my time waiting for US alone. please have got some questions that I would really want answers.
first.. is it still possible I meet up with winter semester and secondly, must I have a block account of €8000 before I'm issued a German student visa.

Some private schools still gives admission... For example my school (SRH Hochschule Berlin. Dresden Campus) u could even apply for scholarship before 15th of this month cus school resumes first week of october...but the issue is Visa appointment date...its hard to get this period. Just try ur luck.

I still dont understand why you all are wasting ur time and money applying for schools in Poland..99.9% is visa refusal.... They will never give u good reasons for denial... There are other countries in Europe to school and get visa straight up... Like Germany... They give free education, scholarships and their processes for visa is not hard like poland.. No need for this ministry of education, foreign affairs bullshit! You all shud leave poland and try germany! I was denied polish visa 2 times even with my complete docs they are just after ur visa fees. But germany was a diff case.. Kind regards
