madambini: I really like Peugeot 504 that I want to buy it as my first car.There s a peugeot thread on this forum where you could get more assist |
Ikenna351: Someone from Lagos once called me that his 206 was terribly emitting white smoke. From his answers to my questions, it was indicating that the head gasket hasnt failed: no loss of coolant, no overheating-temp guage always reading normal, engine oil always guage normal, no discoloured of enigine oil on oil dipstick, etc. So, i was honestly confused, had no idea what could be the cause of the white smoke.Noted Broda and really appreciated. simply info like this could save one a lot of stress and some merry-go-round with our road side guys. Danke! |
abdulkadir: do you think ikenna or any of pug fan here wld advice you against a pug. He would only give you an objective analysis than leave you to make d decision.true talk |
quote author=lungwun] Yes I am new to this forum. But I do believe a simple Yes or No answer would have sufficed re: my first question. I don't have a problem with reading. but going back 18 pages to search is daunting. Thanks "Friendly" Peugeot community / Dear Lungwwun can assure you its really in your best interest to go through the thread, looking for a yes or no answer wont give you an all-round knowledge of the Peugeot brand, you ll simply be asking other questions dats bin treated previously, before you know it. Joined the forum a year ago and read up all the about 15 pages of very useful comments and info in hours, was so hungry for the info I was getting, info you definitely dont get anywhere around. so dont be discouraged Man! Also realise that most of the info on this thread are products of painful research and years of following and observation by ardent Peugeot loving house members and I truly think its only fair you appreciate such effort by reading through the thread. More so you get to know things by yourself, so please dont get it wrong, this thread is surely friendly and ready to help... but first you must be ready to help yourself with a little reading through. Once again your welcome man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Ikenna.[/quote]Don't mind me. I have been busy studying my Fox; to understand how everything in her works, for future diagnosis & repairs. My Diagbox is also helping me on that. Quite an interesting study for such a complex system. Hmmm! suspected u ve bin up to something wit ur new fox. Good to know that 06 parts are available in the market. Better decision not to drive the new fox until the timing belt s bin changed, thats the preventing maintenance mentality u ve so talked about severally on this thread. sad thing is that most car owners simply dont do that. However most of our road side Mechs maintain that its ok just to ghange the timing belt alone with no time limit for changing the other components... I also know its dangerous to take what those guys offer hook,line and sinker. Please post pictures of the process of changing the timing belt when u get to, and kindly let the house kno when u intend to do that, would love to join u if I happen to be in Abuja, the damage our road side mechs do to our cars has really got me interested in mastering common car repair procedures. lastly, read somewhere on this thread about the danger of using power pumps to wash 406 engines. could u throw more light on that, most 06 owners i know do it & it seems harmless for them. also what the alternative to that. Do have a great day! |
Hi House!!! @ Ikenna hows ur new Fox? nothing to share with the house from the Fox Master? |
Ikenna351: Honestly, i dont know if Peugeot mileage can be tampared. But i do know there are other ways of knowing how true the mileage on the instrument cluster is.thanks a lot bro, Ill watch out for to-good-to-be-true milage. Also from previous threads I think I know all the tell tales of a converted 406(touch poweer button on left side, awkward wiper blades, long throtle cable etc) what u ve just said on knowing the year of production is really amazing, one neva stops learning things. pls here s my e mail: wisesystem2002@gmail.com kindly include price range for a clean 2002 or 2003 406 using ur purchase experience in the mail u ll send pls. not to wori I stay in makurdi but come to Abuja every forthnight wit my wife for her buisness so I promise u ll get to see what i get. lastly, why did u choose lagos over cotonou for your 406? thanks... |

yanmata: Congrats Ikenna. I am enjoying my 406 v6 like mad. I travelled to owo(ondo state)from Abuja n return to Abuja sameday on a single tank!Hello House! congrats to Ikenna for his new fox. well am next, wd be going to Cotonou after the Easter break to get a Fox myself, any timely tips from house members will be appreciated. One thing I ve bin trying to verify is if d milage of a 406 can actually be tampered with or can I trust wateva milage I see on cars in Cotonou.Ur informed contributions will be appreciated. |
kadbus: Thank you very much.Thats bin the general belief around for some time, but its been said a lot of times on this thread that thats a dangerous practice, limits normal operating temperature for ur engine & causes all kinds of problems including high fuel consumption, engine sludge and much more u ll surely get to be be told by d gurus on this thread... |
fyneboi79: @ ikenna ,exactly what Į̸̸̨ƭ means! And if you don't like Į̸̸̨ƭ then go smash Ɣ☺ΰя big head against a wall!Nonsense!!! Who r u τ̲̅ȍ talk τ̲̅ȍ people like dat?!Guys lets not derail the reason for this thread please, av Learned so much from the very informed submissions of fellow Lion lovers on this thread and am disgusted its getting to this... Was surprised when Nony30 made his comment, writing off the 04s & 05s designed by legendary Pininfarina, the Italian car design gurus... but for crying-out-loud dats his candid view borne from his own window of car experience and no harm was intended though die-hard Lion lovers like me wished he didnt ... at least not on this thread, but its still a free society we live in so what-the-heck? @Fynboi: has it really gotten to that level...? @ Ikenna: av always enjoyed ur very informative contributions on this thread, I give it to u dat ur love for the lion brand is rock solid, but man u need to understand that not every lion lover sees things from d exact same window as you so please always make provisions for that. All the same your ma hero on this thread man! @ ALL: PLEASE LETS GET BACK TO THE LION TALK & STOP FLIPPING OUR LIDS... |
Ikenna351: I visited ASD Motors Abuja (Peugeot Dealership) at Area 10, this afternoon, to price a part for someone. I then used the opportunity to price other parts some of us would be interested to know how much they cost, i mean, original PAN parts.Guess dats the price to pay for having a car one is in love with, its like a guy marrying a girl of his dream... He's just got to give her ALL D ATTENTION. More to the point, I think that just how expensive these parts are can only be truly measured by their longevity in relation to average Toyota and Honda parts(which are definitely cheaper). I definitely know that an owner of any of the 1999-2002 models of toyota camry & honda accord would change his shock absorbers at least 1 additional time before a 406 owner does. most Mercedes Benz owners cant even remember ever having to change parts like shocks or timing belts. My point is that there are CARS & there are cars, one may have to do a comparative check on the cost of Peugeot parts and the average life of these parts in comparison with other brands of cars with 'cheaper' parts. Lets also realist that because Japanese cars are more common in Nigeria their parts are more available in the second hand markets in comparison with the peugeot wit relativey fewer cars in the country, hence factors of demand and supply Viv-a-vis price. Lastly i really do think that the cost of Peugeot parts in Nigeria is directly related to its being a goverment brand over the years(issued to the Army, Navy & Air force Officers)...and with all the corruption in our country especially in government circles... our beloved Peugeot somehow got in the mix. If it were possible to check the sales record of any known dealer I can bet my next months salary on the fact most of his clients are government boys spending government money |
nony30: Seriously,guys u neeD τ̲̅ȍ do away with 504/505s.even when I'm thinking 406 is out dated and trying τ̲̅ȍ get a 407! •̸№ insult meant pls but those cars belong τ̲̅ȍ d museums now.Ever heard of the word 'vintage'? In the Nigerian car experience the Peugeot 504 & 05s are surely vintage, man. U ll really be pissing off a lot of lion lovers on this thread writing -off those rides. Like Ikenna rightly observed, I have a friend who had a serious car crash & is still normal today because his God wasnt sleeping on the fateful day & also his car was an iron clad 504. |
ymb1: Dear All,if i may, scan ur engine to be sure |
@ymb1 |
