Emzybrown: am at owerri, pls virus converts my file in mmc and flash drive into .exe and they wont work again, free avast cant detect them pls help bro,wat should i do?what operating system are you running on. you may need to restore your PC first before installing any Antivirus. for a start download the Kasparky virus removal tool and run on your PC. |
mercylicious: Plz my ppl, I have a challenge.1st question you need to ask yourself is why does this happen often. My take is that you manage how you use your device, and install a good antivirus. back to the problem, it should show you the PATH to the missing file from the error. Try the below process first: 1) Insert the original Windows XP bootable setup CD-ROM in your computer. 2) Start your computer 3) In the Windows XP Setup dialog box, press ENTER - To setup Windows now 4) Press F8 to accept the Windows Licensing Agreement 5) Windows will examine your system and detect the corrupt Windows XP installation. The corrupt installation will be selected by default. 6) Press R on your computer keyboard to repair the selected Windows XP installation 7) Windows XP Setup will copy files required to repair your computer from the CD-ROM Allow the setup process to complete. This could take up to one hour. Your laptop may reboot during the Windows repair process.9) You will be prompted to confirm the Regional and Language Options settings during the Windows XP repair process. Confirm or change the settings, and press Next to continue the repair. 10) Windows Setup will complete the repair process, and your computer can now boot normally. You will not lose any of your data on the computer. Your Windows preferences will also be preserved. |
lisa04: @wolebaba,tried it buh it dint work. Pls wat next?U need to see a PC techie....kindly state wat part of Lag U are so I can see if it falls in an area where any of my recommend techie can easily reached. Better still if you are closer to comp villa take it there, but be careful oooo. |

You will need to reinstall the keyboard driver. Download keyboard driver from the manufacturer's website. If this doesn't solve it then you may need to take it to a tachie for further examination. |
purplekayc: am running avast free anti virusThe one that make a sound of a siren and say "caution a virus has been detected"? If dats what U have plz don't depend upon it. The best bet against virus is caution on the part of the users. -ensure u don't use external storage media indiscriminately on yo PC. -apply every OS update available. -be careful not to access any computer U are not sure of on the network, and don't allow access to your PC over the network unless U are sure of the remote PC. -install a GOOD antivirus. This is meant to protect U wen options above are bridged. So bro your free avast may not be sufficient without precaution. There is a reason Avast have the paid version of their software. Simply follow my earlier advice and don't forget to treat your device with respect. Chiao!!! |
Bjayjay: it can't be cos I use updated avast antivirus and I always try to avoid indiscriminate use of flash drives on ma systemWhat is the laptop type and model of your sister. How old is your 620? |

Horpy4: I just dont know what get wrong with my system,it office word, corel draw, power point, microsoft publisher and notepad dont work again, pls help me out, what can i do to correct thisWhat error do you see when you start any of the programmes. |
purplekayc: fella i just found out that some of my program mes will not boot up again when i start my system , only shows the icons , as if it were deleted . who has any i ideas?VIRUS.....plain and simple!!! Get and install a good antivirus. Restore your PC to a good point, and install an antivirus to clean up your device. |
lisa04: Pls I nid help. My laptop hs refused 2 come on after I used it sm days ago. Dunnoo wat cld be d problem. I even tried anoda charger 2 knw if mine is faulty, but it still wldnt come on.Did you shutdown properly the last time it wad used? If no then my guess is that you allowed you battery to get totally drained. So let go thruough the following: Remove the battery and connect the charger, the press the start button. If it comes up, then you would need to charge your battery for a long time before turning on the Lappy. If it doesn't come up then the issue has to do with a part of your board. This can be easily fixed by any good hardware techie. You can contact me on woleaheeb@gmail.com so I can recommend a good techie for you if you stay in lagos. |
phiszo: Hello computer gurus. I recently installed windows 8 and i saw a folder called "windows.old" in my hard disk. Will it be safe to delete it cuz i need more space on my hard disk. You must have upgrades your old operating system to Win8. Windows creates a backup of your old OS and name it as .old. If you do not need your old documents you may delete that folder, but I would advice that you back it up b4 you delete. |

dcal001: hi, i left my laptop idle for while and when i came back, the screen was blank and unresponsive. I then forced it to shut down and since then it refused to boot. when you put it on, it beeps 7 times repeatedly. i took it to computer village and they said something about the power ic being bad. they have fixed it twice now and its not working. Please help....asapFrom my experience; its a problem with the motherboard. However, let's try a little diagnostic test: - remove battery and plug in the charger and try to turn it on. (Specify result) - if you can locate the Memory(RAM),carefully remove it; clean it and replace back. If you have 2 RAM remove them one at a time and test before replacing. If it still doesn't work, then you will need to replace the motherboard. |
dowjones: the letter "R" on my laptop's keyboard presses uncontrollably when I'm typing or anytime I tap it.Get a can of compressed air and blow all the dirt off your computer. Concentrate more on the keyboard. Some dirt is holding down the R key after you press it. This should do it. Users have a way of eating all sorts of things on their keyboard not mind the crumbs of their food fall into the spaces below the keys on the keyboard. You need to start paying attention to taking proper care of the device. |
Talk of wanton waste of public funds, and a gross rub-off in the face of the people you should cater for; this is the height of it. The Gov of Niger state just had a wedding for his daughter. I have no information as to much was spent, but one can imagine if you have billboard all over the state advertising the event. This by any standard is madness!!!!!

deji2009: Nairaland instructed us not to offer product key for any software.I think there are a few Open Source free download managers that requires no product key. This can be used. I actually use FDM although it doesn't have as much functions as the other paid software, It does the basic things I need and its free. |
@all 'Your CASTLexc has stopped working.' is one comment that pops up occasionally on my laptop. What could this mean?
Uninstall and reinstall CASTLexc if U still have need for it. If U don't have anymore need for it, den just remove it from your PC. |
earthgreeners: I have problems with my Laptop Charger (Dell inspiron 1520), sometimes it comes on and sometimes it doesnt...Think you should 1stly change the power cable attached to the actual charger. U can look for someone with d same charger and test, before deciding to change it. Am sure new charger can't be more than 10k or less for a good one. If you are looking for original then you will have to meet Dell Centre or buy fairly used from Comp Villa. |
zugoboss: good morning. i have a elitebook, the trackpad/luxpad refuses to work most times including the left & right buttons making me to use the external mouse most times. I don't know if its a hardwaare problem or software malfunction? then secondly it has a 4gb ram & a 1gb dedicated graphics but yet it tells me it has less than 128mb vram when I want to run games or some apps. pls help1stly the track-pad issue could be software related. Kindly reinstall or update the driver and if it still persists, then you will need it changed. For the second issue you will need to do an audit of your PC. Take an audit of all your install apps and how much memory each one takes up. Also. you may need to stop many of the apps you do not use often from starting up when windows starts up. Get back to me with what you are able to come up with den we can take it from there. |

Allow the setup process to complete. This could take up to one hour. Your laptop may reboot during the Windows repair process.
