@ world 1. I must commend you for the ton of good you have done with this thread. I must confess that I have been a silent follower, never even asked a question. But I want nothing more than to give you the satisfaction of knowing what your thread has done to help improve people's finances and ultimately their lives. I started following the thread while doing my personal research on plantain a while back after I and a colleague decided to start a farm by the side. And I must say going through here daily gave me the strength to continue even when my intending partner gave up. Now I have succeeded in planting over 700 suckers on my 1 acre farm with the help of an iita agric extension staff and I intend to follow through with this till I can set up plantain farms anywhere in the country off the hat with my template. I do have a vision and I know we would ultimately work together as I skirted with the issue of reaching out to you but the financials played a big role in me getting a local consultant from my state, nevertheless you ARE indeed a partner in progress even though you never knew it and now you do! Keep up the good work and soon we WILL do business one way or another.

Also upnorth, the rains are just few months a year, will it affect productivity without irrigation?

Seed and seedlings are available in large quantities
Many things can actually determined the spacing of any crop but I recommend 2m by 2m for intensive farm.
As for the issue of rain you need to have alternative source of water.
