We are seriously busy here planting our hybrid plantain suckers

This thread is quite interesting and informative. I heard the giant plantain specie grows bigger than the double bunch specie. Can anyone throw more light on this. Secondly, what are the profit prospects of these two species?

As for me the Cameroon giant sucker is St better because you don't need much wind breakers the the fingers is bigger if well feed.

At the first harvesting of this 1500/1hecter plantain plantation, what is the profit percnetage one should expect from it...am into fish farming now , but I have my sight on agriculture fully !

Fish farming is also lucrative just try to do it well if you don't mind I can show you round Songhai farm in order for you to get inspiration. It won't cost you much at all. You will be inspired the way fish farming is been practice with 100% natural and local floting feeds.

My brother that is not correct. I traveled as far as Cameron and songahai in porto novo to learn agribusiness. And the learning is still continuous i paid equivalent of 5k per day in porto novo there is no excuse for failure just go for what you want it might be expensive but it will pay for its self soonest.

But Op, I think you are being a little defensive and almost 'rude' . Regardless of the amount the guy wants to spend he has the right to ask questions and feel comfortable before venturing into any transactions. You kind of remind me of those market women who get irritated/nasty once you begin to ask them questions when trying to buy something.

You are not doing this dude a favor, neither is he you. You are both trying to commit to a transaction, you offering your services, him offering his money, values is exchanged. Please keep that in mind as you grow in this business. Customer service does not stop at MTN or Airtel, it's in every facet of business, including markets. He is a customer, if he is pissed there are ways to politely address his concerns rather than telling him not to derail the thread. If he has legit reasons I applaud him for being able to bring it to public, so others can be cautious, something most Nigerians , having been oppressed so much would rather leave to God. If we are planning to compete internationally, these are things we need to pay attention to.
A smart business man would find ways to polish his brand if it seems that a little misunderstanding is trying to smear it.
He asked where is your office, no answer. If you don't have one yet, isn't better to say it's work in progress? If you do, the place no open to public anymore or an private boys club? Remember the guy is anonymous, you are the one with the business and everything to lose.

If workload is overwhelming get someone to read your emails and at least send a temporary reply if they are not able to answer the questions or handle the request. Don't keep potential customers hanging for a week. Granted you are a start-up but little things like this can nip your business in the bud.

If you had handled this properly you could have been 250k-500k richer, this adds to your overall worth. Look at retail giants or farms every kobo adds to the bottom line. No amount is too small even if you are Dangote, if the deal doesnt become yours, that's opportunity lost, and you would be none the richer. Please learn as you go. My unsolicited opinion.

Thanks for the advice. You're really talking to me. Because I don't believe in doing small projects but you've just opened my eyes to see that no money is small.

U don't need somebody from ur office to call. I might even b comfortable dealing wt u than ur assistant. An address of ur office or ur house might do. U don't invest huge amount of money wt someone u ve not seen or know his whereabouts.
I said 'get ur office thing right'.
If I'm to invest 167k-200k for an acre of plantain farm, do u really think a survey fee of 10k is going to b a problem for me? Bro... think again!

You can start with any size of land if you want to learn as fresher but for business the minimum is 1hecter.

There different types that serves different purpose. The best is the type that has 2 different layer with colour black and silver. I will show you the picture when I reduced the size too large to ttach here.

I have 2 new jobs to start and deliver between tomorrow and 10 f Nov 2014. My birthday is 11/11 so I have to rest.
LOCATION: The 1st farm is located at Ajase and the other is at a village close to Ilorin.
CROOPS: Plantain, Cucumber and Watermelon
PROPOSED FARM SIZE:
Ajase 1hecter -1500suckers
Ilorin 10 hecter - 10,000 suckers
The land has been ploughed and harrowing is on going now.
Here are the suckers and the new variety seed from Thailand that I want to use. I just got my Lincese from Songhai farm as a seed partner.
