An issue I will like you to address is the issue of someone demanding huge amount of money from you before you can check the location of the land to rent/lease(as much as #10,000). I'm not advocating for charity but won't that be a discouraging factor for pursuance of a dream considering the fact that many people are still finding it hard to save money to buy land permanently?

There is no magic. You can't plant 2000 suckers on an acre period. When it starts growing how do you accommodate the other suckers springing up? Prune them?
Lol, anything goes in Nigeria, you can sell suckers for 300. But this is someone who is a starter, I wouldn't encourage him to buy any 150 naira sucker.

@OP if you are in Ibadan, go to IITA/Nihort or source other local farmers who wouldn't rip you off. A lot of people are ready to grab your money and make a dash with it. That your friend has given you money today, don't mean money will come easy another time if you are not wise with this one.

Like I said earlier its not about sucker but spacing I don't want sedulus to think we are disturbing his business here and moreover I didnt advertise anything here.
TAEpiphany i want to ask you a simple question Have you ever bought sucker from IITA office at Ibadan before? Because every time we talk about suckers everybody keep saying IITA this IITA that. IITA is a research institution not a commercial centre.

My brother the best for you as a newbie is to do something small. Like cucumber. if you want to do plantain now you will need irrigation between now and when you will clear your land and plant it will be December so think and talk to profesionals before you take your first step in agribusiness. CULTIVATION AND COMMERCIALIZATION OF PAWPAW (CARICA PAPAYA) IN KAJOLA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA OF OYO STATE

Abstract
This study focused on the extent of cultivation of pawpaw (Carica Papaya) and its commercialization in Kajola Local Government area of Oyo State. Specific attempts were made to examine the extent of cultivation of pawpaw and its commercialization; identify production problems associated with pawpaw; examine the activities involved in cultivation and commercialization of pawpaw; and to suggest, based on findings, recommendations for improved production of pawpaw in Nigeria. Descriptive analysis was used to analyse the data collected, using frequency tables. Five villages of Ayetoro, Gbonje, Ilua, Ilero and Isemi-Ile were selected where eight each of pawpaw farmers and marketers were interviewed, using interview guide. The sampling technique used was snow ball sampling. Pawpaw farmers were mainly men and marketers were mainly women. The extent of cultivation of pawpaw was found to be very low, as compared to other crops. The major production problems associated with pawpaw as discovered were; lack of fund, attack of pests and diseases, while the major constraints facing marketing were lack of fund, lack of storage facility since the fruit are highly perishable, non-availability of good transportation facilities. The study recommends provision of loan to farmers and marketers, encouraging them to form co-operative; provision of subsidy on input, adequate training for farmers and marketer’s provision of basic social amenities, among others. These, according to the study, will help facilitate growing pawpaw on commercial scale.
