More than 10,000 troops participated in the event, along with armored vehicles and aircraft.

Up to 11,000 troops marched on Moscow’s iconic Red Square on Monday as Russia celebrated the 77th anniversary of the defeat of Nazi Germany during World War II. The conflict is largely called the Great Patriotic War in Russia, and May 9 is one of the country’s most revered holidays.

The marching columns represented all branches of Russia’s Armed Forces, including airborne troops, military police, national guardsmen and cadets.

More than 130 armored vehicles were led by the iconic T-34-85 tank, which was one of the main ‘workhorses’ of the Red Army during the war.

The state-of-the-art T-90M Proryv (Breakthrough) main battle tanks, S-400 air-defense missile systems, and Yars thermonuclear intercontinental ballistic missiles, were among other top-notch weapons showcased on the Red Square.

Sixty people have been killed after a village school in eastern Ukraine took a direct hit in a Russian air raid, with rescue attempts said by the regional governor to be impossible due to constant shelling.

Russian attacks in the east and south intensified at the weekend, with the Black Sea city of Odesa coming under repeated missile strikes and the remaining Ukrainian fighters in the Azovstal steelworks in the besieged port city of Mariupol staging a press conference on Sunday saying they had been “abandoned” by the government as Russian attacks continued

About 90 people had been using the school in Bilohorivka, a village 60 miles (97km) north-west of the Russian-controlled city of Luhansk, as a shelter after the previous place of refuge, a club house, had been destroyed in an earlier attack.

Serhiy Gaidai, the Luhansk governor, told the Guardian he believed the 30 people who escaped had been outside in the grounds of the building. He said he had little hope for those who were under rubble.

“Unfortunately, they are probably dead,” he said. “Because the building collapsed. Besides, an air bomb is not a missile, its explosion produces extremely high temperatures. That’s why most likely people haven’t survived.”

Russia’s president, Vladimir Putin, has stated he intends to take the eastern Luhansk and Donetsk regions by 9 May when Russia marks Victory Day and the defeat of Nazi Germany.

In an address to mark Ukraine’s 8 May remembrance and reconciliation day, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, said his country paid homage to all those who helped defeat Adolf Hitler but accused Russia of repeating his crimes.

He said: “Every year on 8 May, together with the entire civilised world, we honour everyone who defended the planet from Nazism during world war two. Millions of lost lives, crippled destinies, tortured souls and millions of reasons to say to evil: never again!

Foreign AffairsPope Francis Says NATO Started The War In Ukraine By "Barking At Putin's Door" by WriterNig(op): 10:01pm On May 03, 2022
https://www.chinadailyhk.com/attachments/image/65/164/146/476691_180246/476691_180246_800_auto_jpg.jpg

Since the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Pope Francis has floated the idea that he wants to take a trip to Kyiv to try to broker a ceasefire. But now he says he would prefer to go to Moscow to try to talk some sense into Vladimir Putin, who he has not outwardly condemned in the now nearly three-month-old war and only did so lightly in a lengthy interview with an Italian newspaper.

“I feel that before going to Kyiv, I must go to Moscow,” he told Corriere Della Sera in an interview that ran Tuesday. But the meeting would not exactly be to condemn Putin, based on what he told the paper. He said that the real “scandal” of Putin’s war is “NATO barking at Russia’s door,” which he said caused the Kremlin to “react badly and unleash the conflict.”

Never mind that the 85-year-old pontiff is unable to walk after tearing a ligament in his knee (for which he says he will soon have surgery), or that Putin won’t even answer his calls. Francis repeated comments he has made in general audiences and in other interviews that the war is nothing more than a giant opportunity for a “trade in arms” and that it is still ongoing because of the constant shuttling of weapons to Ukraine. He has spoken twice by phone to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, but mostly to urge him not to fight back. He also went to the Russian embassy to the Holy See days after the invasion began to “register his concerns” about what was happening.

https://www.wavy.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2022/02/719bf5c92d7c4269a9b42d771ec92132.jpg

“I don’t know how to answer - I’m too far a way - the question of whether it is right to supply the Ukrainians,” he told the paper. “The clear thing is that weapons are being tested there. The Russians now know that tanks are of little use and are thinking of other things. This is why wars are waged: to test the weapons we have produced. Few people are fighting this trade, but more should be done.”

Whether the Italian journalists didn’t ask or whether he didn’t answer there was no mention about what would happen if Ukrainians were not fiercely fighting back, whether it would mean a full annexation of the entire country, millions of deaths, or empowering an already insatiably power-hungry Putin.

Francis veered toward conspiracy theory as he blamed the international community for instigating the war.

“You cannot think that a free state can make war on another free state,” he said. “In Ukraine, it seems that it was others who created the conflict. I am pessimistic but we must do everything possible to stop the war.”

The pope then said that in a state visit to Rome by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, he was told “the Russians have a plan, that everything will end on May 9” without giving any further explanation. May 9 is the day Russia celebrates its liberation and the end of World War II.

Finally,
No body in this life is above GOD and the LAW OF NATURE.

At one point in time we all have to succumb to their desires.
Putin never said he's above GOD. He's a very dedicated Christian.

Vladimir Putin will undergo surgery for cancer, it has been claimed.

Vladimir Putin is set to undergo an operation for cancer and will hand over power to his hardline spy chief, a Kremlin insider has reportedly claimed.

The Russian President’s health has been source of considerable speculation amid reports that he is battling both abdominal cancer and Parkinson’s Disease.

But now it has been reported that 69-year-old Putin could soon go under the knife, with power transferred to Nikolai Patrushev.

Shadowy Patrushev, 70, is seen as a key architect of the Ukraine war strategy and the man who convinced Putin that Kyiv was awash with neo-Nazis.

Security boss Nikolai Patrushev will be in charge, says the a Kremlin insider.

The claim was reported on Russian media outlet General SVR, which first raised issues of Putin’s health around 18-months ago.

They quote an anonymous former high-ranking Kremlin military figure as saying: “Putin has discussed that he will be undergoing medical procedures.”

In video in which the source, whose voice appears to have been disguised, reveals that “doctors insist that he needs an operation, but the date has not yet been determined”.

“He will have surgery and while he is incapacitated,” he says, adding that he “thinks it'll be for a short time”.

The source said the choice of spymaster Patrushev, which came after a two-hour “heart to heart” with Putin, was the “worst option”.

President Putin was seen slouched during a meeting with Sergei Shoigu earlier this month.

He went on to speculate that Putin’s health problems could deteriorate.

“What if, all of a sudden, Putin manifests particularly severe health problems?,” he said.

“We know very well that he has cancer, and Parkinson's disease, as we have said many times.

“It was possible to contain it for some time, but now the course of the disease is progressing.”

When exactly Putin will go into hospital is unclear but it is unlikely to before May 9, when he presides over the grandiose Red Victory Day commemoration of the defeat of Hitler.

Foreign AffairsZelensky Rejects U.S Evacuation Offer As Russian Assasins Parachute Into Kyiv by WriterNig(op): 9:20am On Apr 29, 2022

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky held the ground and once again refused to be evacuated from Kyiv as Russian assassination squad parachuted into the capital and entered a building to kill him, a news report has claimed.

According to an account of the crisis given by presidential adviser Oleksiy Arestovych, Mr Zelensky was urged to leave and go to a secure facility away from Kyiv. The Ukrainian president also made a secret visit to the front line, according to the account.

Both British and US forces offered to evacuate Mr Zelensky and allow him to set up a government in exile, probably in Poland, but he never seriously thought about it.

Advisers warned him that the compound was at risk from sniper fire and grenades hurled from nearby buildings.

Mr Zelensky and a dozen of his aides were given bulletproof vests and assault rifles, but some didn't know how to use them.

Mr Arestovych said: “It was an absolute madhouse. Automatics for everyone.

“The place was wide open. We didn’t even have concrete blocks to close the street.”

He said the president's wife and children were also still there as the Russians descended.

Mr Zelensky would not leave, and on the second night, he went outside to record a video to show the Ukrainian people he had not fled.

The Ukrainian president himself told TIME: “You understand that they’re watching. You’re a symbol. You need to act the way the head of state must act.”

The Russian troops entered Ukraine on February 24.

At the start of the invasion, those inside defended themselves with automatic weapons and erected defences as the Russians twice tried to storm them at night.

A back gate was blocked with only plywood boards and police barricades.

According to the details shared in the account, in the early days of the invasion Mr Zelensky would get up before dawn and have his first meeting with his top general at 5am.

As the war progressed Mr Zelensky and aides would watch drone strikes on computer screens and cheer as Russian tanks were destroyed.

Mr Arestovych said bodyguards were "losing their minds" at the risk involved, and many of Mr Zelensky's team only found out months later that he had done it.

On another trip to the front line a few days later he ate soup within the range of Russian snipers and artillery.

Another adviser told the magazine that Mr Zelensky was his own “main” speechwriter.
