If you want to compare figures you’ll have to compare KRA with FIRS.

KRA(Kenya revenue Authorities)= FIRS(Federal inland revenue service) for Nigeria.

Don’t get it twisted.

And Nigeria doesn’t a central revenue service like KRA.

We practice federalism so you have.

FIRS which is for the federal, and the other 36 states each have their own revenue service. Like the LIRS(Lagos Internal Revenue Service).

That was mostly due to Corona..otherwise KRA would collect anything 6-7B dollars from customs. PAYE take a lion share. Then VAT.

It's very sad that a country of 40 million people is collecting the same amount of money (at the port) as a country of 200 million people

Custom - KRA - IRS/FIRS

KPA - collect levies for offloading your container...they don't levy taxes - mainly the fees for offshoring and storing the container until you pick.

Kenya custom duties are collected KRA.

Let me help you. KRA collected last month 1.6 billion dollars.

Out of which 600M dollars came from custom duties.

Now start to use your brain here - for a change - 600M times 12 - is nearly 8B dollars. TWICE NIGERIA. Forget about African giant nonsense

Ports - in modern countries - deal handling fee - In kenya it's a little over 200-300 dollars for every container - doesn't matter the value.

Then you move to Customs - where you pay duty based on the value.

Taxes - are PAYE+VAT+Customs mostly.

Ports - they charge handling fee - the cranes and storage fees - if you delay.

KRA collected $2b for a period of six months. That means that after a full year they will collect $4b which is same with the one collected by a country with 200 million people
