Maize now is very expensive - because not a lot was planted - therefore farmers are making a kill

Azimio messed up big time and fell on it's sword.

Solution for maize subsector are well known. Ruto has done it before. He is also a maize farmer.

1) Give farmers cheap fertilizers & inputs. Then wait for six months.
2) As soon as they harvest - buy cheaply maize - about 4-5 million bags - store them in strategic reserves.
3) Leave the rest - about 40m bags - for millers to buy from farmers.

Whenever millers run out maize - release few thousands bags from strategic reserves - to smooth out supply issues.

Your AZIIMIO IDIOTS will not get it.

So the government sees it fit to import maize from other countries instead of promoting local farmers who has maize enough to solve almost three quarters of countries maize problems?

And Ruto cannot use magic to lower maize prices - farmers must plant maize - Azimio thought they were punishing Ruto kalenjin farmers when they cut fertilizer subsidy and refused to buy maize. They went around Eldoret - arresting large maize farmers and sellers.

The outcome - Maize prices went record high of 230.

And Raila-Azimio lost election.

Maize will only come down from June - when first harvest come in June from South Rift.

Tell you people to back and farm - not throw stones - and expect miracles in supermarrket.

It's a miracle there is still maize in that supermarket - because international market - white maize is expensive and not available

Azimio mess can never be attributed to Ruto. Ruto from this year harvest - things will be fine - because again fertilizer subsidy is working

Stop overhyping Ruto too much, he can't do anything meaningful. How many dams has he initiated their construction since he got the presidency? He has no interest of Kenyans in his heart. The Uhuru you are castigating did many important things to Kenya including revival of Mumias sugar.

I see. I once wanted to buy land near there - was dirty cheap for 120K. That place is now coming along. They need to fix Chemelil, Muhoroni and Miwani factories - gov should write it off and sell it to investors. Soin dam. Muhoroni industrial park. Rai cement and steel plant.

I probably need to go back and look for land again.

There's no political goodwill to revive those factories.

Fixing all that needs long term plans. You need to invest in agriculture, manufacturing and in tourism so that you can stabilize the ksh and have locally grown food enough to feed a nation, the same way TZ is doing.

Is electricity imported? Ruto just need to sort out electricity prices and fuel prices (subsidies) and cost of almost everything will go down.

Check the cost of fuel and electricity before he became president. What's the need of removing subsidies on food, fuel and electricity then use that money to buy cars for himself, appoint his sycophants unlawfully and reduce jobs? During uhuru's time there were programs like kazi mtaani which employed so many youths, pesa kwa wazee which gave elderly stipend at the end of every month and a certain mothers fund. All these Ruto has crapped, why? To increase allocation of fund to himself. Even those who voted for him are now regretting.

The greatest mistake Ruto made was removing the fuel subsidy totally and abruptly. I don't support fuel subsidy in all totality but removing it has to be gradual. Africa is a poor place and the people need all kinds of economic cushions to survive. Reduce subsidy but don't cut it off totally at once. It will affect prices of everyday goods. It's better not to introduce it at all than introducing it and cutting it off again completely in a bid to satisfy imf. I hope Tinubu is seeing this.
