omokoaustine: internal memory fixed but after much installation of apps, d whole tin start lagging. Force stopped/wait.
The lag ur experiencing is as a result of one of a system app you accidentally restored. do backup user and not system apps using titanium bkup pro. and do full system wipe, and restre apps afterwards

Internal memory fix to totally solve memory Issue (guaranteed 170+/- MB free constantly!):
Requirements:
Back up Applications, and SMS using Titanium BKup pro. (how? see below)

1. sdcard partitioned in three parts...fat32, ext2 (not ext3 wont work), and linuxswap
2. stock 3e recovery
3. tecno n3, though this method may work for other androids of same chipset.
procedure:
*install Gingerbean Aurora CR using AIO
*donnot start using phone, boot to recovery
*select reboot system now; your device should d a full wipe and restart
*after phone restarts, go to settings; applications: enable "unknown sources", the scroll down to development and enable "usb debugging"
*exit settings and open superuser; and update binaries
*exit superuser and open root explorer
*in root explorer go to data folder, inside data folder look for a folder names sdext2, if you cant locate it simply create a new folder and name it "sdext2" (note the small letters)
*now, exit root explorer and restart phone
*When your phone has finished restarting, open root explorer and go to the folder data/sdext2, now you should find the contents of your ext2 parition listed
*delete all the contents of the sdext2 folder, any one that refuses to delete just leave alone
*Now, go back once, that is out of the sdext2 folder (i.e. data/),
*now we will move three folders "app" "data" and "dalvik-cache" frm here to sdext2.
hw is that done?
*in that folder, i.e data/, press left button on the n3, and select "multi-select"
only choose "app" "data" and "dalvik-cache"
*click move
*scroll down to sdext2 and select the folder the folder(i.e data/sdext2/)
*click paste
it will take some time, be patient.
*when done you shud have "app" "data" and "dalvik-cache"in your sdext2
note: do not exit root explorer yet...we are not finished
*now, go back once (data/) or click buttom right button
*click buttom left button, in the menu choose "new folder"

GINGER-BEAN AURORA!
k....so i said 9th June in the last post, but things worked better than I had envisaged.
here you have it, Ginger-bean Aurora.

A few brief comments from Ginger-bean Architect, xanderz:
[b]Over a month ago, when I first started the Ginger-bean project, I had a vision of what I believed should be the custom rom
for our Tecno android, Ginger-bean RPM, a good rom, adding pre-shell root allowing for full modifications by the user, for the first time Tecno N3 users could experience what it really means to be a "superuser";
Albeit, this fell far short of my expectations, because I could see this machine could do more. hence, the need for other releases, gingerbean_v1.0, gingerbean_v3.0 (full init.d support), and gingerbean_final (Actual 4.0 cosmetics). the aim wasnt yet met, target not yet achieved, which was to bring to the tecno N3 the three main essential features of a Clockworkmod recovery enabled device; such as init.d support, mount ext2 partition, easy disaster recovery (system restoring and backup) which are the reasons why xda-developer koush made the recovery in the first place.
Now, I present the Aurora, which isnt everything I have in mind, however, I can gladly say it comes closest.
Hope you enjoy AURORA.

Scorpiow: I installed gingerbean v 3.0 but noticed that the sdcard has been changed to mnt/emmc, therefore I couldn't use my sdcard where I did the titanium backup. Secondly, there was nothing like "external storage" in my settings/ application/ install location, what I have was "removable sdcard". Thirdly, the sdcard mounted was automatically allocated a huge 15MB storage space(lol). How the rom was able to achieve that I don't know. However, I remained contented with v 1.0. Engineers in the house,I think the ball is now in your court.
forgive my ammusement...but the way u put it is actually hillarious.
k...fact is, emmc stand for embeded media card, which is actually part f yur internal memry;
good news is not to worry yur sdcard is safe, bad news, yu have to enable it by going to
settings....storage...storage manager...unders sdcard device choose: external sd, you will be prompted that ur fn will restart...viola!! yur sd is back.

PhonesRe: Custom ROM For Tecno N3: Ginger-bean by xanders(op):
Appologies to those that are having issues with the new rom, coolI assure you the dev-team is currently working on a fix for all known issues. Any other new observations are welcome.

Appreciation to those that are enjoying our new rom, I assure you that this is just the begining grin

most of the changes on this rom were in the hardware features and not only on the graphic layer per say (what we see on the screen).
for instance:
increase touch sensitivity
more effective battery usage
Increased Java Virtual Machine memory
etc

These are things that work in the underground to make your android function better.

TIP: the new rom is very stable when you do a full wipe after installation, please ensure you partitioned memory card is inside your android both when you do the system flash and wipe, or else the links for the memory fix will be broken, and wont work.

otherwise, if your sd card is not partitioned the rom works just fine.

big thanks to the dev-team of Tecno N3 custom, the guys know themselves, we still working n praying tirelessly for more innovative and ground-braking mods to bring home to this fine android, Tecno N3

Gerrie: Thanks boss
Pls respond to.my quest above
not necessarily. I did touch on that a post ago. I believe mentioning running Gangstar rio and some other games, on a Tecno N3 with only one partition (fat32). The performance was ok, though when running games like Mass effect infiltrator(MEI), a HD game involving lots of fast moving graphic effects which are "memory eaters" it lagged abit;however, was still playable, and even ran smoothly when few character where around. my guess is with a little overclocking, we might even achieve perfect running. This is not to say that the linuxswap partition is to be done away with, but gives an easy alternative to those who want to run the ginger-bean but find sd-card partitioning a "head-ache", like me

for total newbies: you can run Hd games like Gangsta rio-city of saints, Mass Effect Infiltrator (little laggy but very playable), and others, without linuxswap partition? (see images)
it seems the Gingerbean ROM for Tecno N3 has more up it sleeves;the screenshots below were taken on a fresh N3 runing Gingerbrean final, with no sdcard partitioning whatsoever! shocked

PhonesRe: Custom ROM For Tecno N3: Ginger-bean by xanders(op):
EASY STEPS TO FLASH CUSTOM ROM Especially IF YOU HAVE'NT ROOTED YOUR N3 before (PART 1):
TOOLS NEEDED:
1. TECNO N3 PHONE
2. TECNO N3 USB CABLE
3. USB SD card reader.
4. SOFTWARES: AIO FLASHER (get at Xda-developers.com), MINI-PARTITION TOOL (filecrop.com), Microsoft net framework 4.5 (atleast 4.0)
5. UNIVERSAL ADB DRIVER INSTALLER (get at www.adbdriver.com)
6. BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO USE A COMPUTER
7. PATIENT AND COOL HEAD

NOTE: ONLY RISK with this method you'll lose your application game saves, and other STUFF installed on system
on the other hand the advantage of this are listed:
better performance, more free space, new interface, no more shut down and startup annoying sounds (boots like a Berry) just to mention a few.

Now steps to follow:
1. backup your data, i.e. contacts (GO TO CONTACTS MENU, IMPORT/EXPORT, EXPORT TO SD), sms (go to Google play for an application, just search for sms backup) to your memory card
2. power of your android, remove the battery, and SD card.

3. PARTITIONING THE SD CARD:
now, using the card-reader copy all the contents of your memory card to a folder on your desktop, placed where you can easily find it later on
next, install mini-partition tool.
Plug in the card-reader with your SDcard inserted into it
Run mini-partition tool. (see fig 1)
Now, you will should see your system hard disk and your sd card in the main window of mini partition tool, (if you don’t know which is which you can recognise your sdcard by the size, 7.6gig for the standard N3 card)
If you don’t see your sdcard at all, just close mini partition tool, remove the card reader, put it back in, and restart mini partition tool. Repeat the process till it sees it
Now, you can see your sd card; click on the drive icon, then go to the right hand left side of the mini-partition tool window and choose “delete partitions”, it will as you for a confirmation , choose” yes”.
Now your sd card will be displayed as “unallocated”.
Next, select the region shown as “unallocated” or simply click the drive icon it self, move over to the left of the mini-partition tool windows and choose “create partition”
Pro TIP: it is wise that before you begin partitioning your SD card you plan out the way you want to share it. Of course a man plans how to share his wealth before his death, isn’t that so?
Hence, we need three partitions: fat32, ext2, and linuxswap
So lets assume our sdcard is 8gig, we can say
1st PARTITION
The “create Partition” menu will open: (see fig 2)
There are only three thing that concern us here:
Creat As, File System, and Partition Size:
Under “Create as” choose” Primary”
Under “File System” choose “FAT32”
Under “partition size” type the size you want in megabyte or MB, for instance 2gig is 2000, 4gig is 4000 and so on. Use a large size for this partition as this is where we shall copying our sd card data we backed up into.
Click OK
2ND PARTITION (ext2 for data and apps)
Once again, click on the “unallocated” space and click “create partition”
In the partition menu
Under “create as” choose “primary”
Under “File System” choose “ext2”
Under “partition size” type “1024”
Click OK
3rd PARTITION (linuxswap)SEE FIGURE3
Under “create as” choose primary
Under “file system” choose “linuxswap”
Under “partition size” no need to type any thing as the software has done that for you.
Click OK
Now move to the upper left hand of the mini-partition tool and click “apply”
Allow all operation to finish.
Next step if flashing the custom rom:

END OF PART 1:

COMMENT: in this part we have covered how to partition your sd card using mini partition tool. however, no human is above mistake, thats why petrol is sold at N97 in lag and N200 in some area; that being said, any issues you encounter simply refer to the appropriate section in tutorial above.
in the next part we'l consider Flashing the Tecno N3

lat4real: I didn't see that linuxswap on my phone, is it like that or is there something i need to do?
use mini-partition tool and view your memory card, or temporarily install swapper 2 to check..go to setting and select use swap partition, if it success fully creates swap then your definately sure have a swap partition.
the swap partition is essential for the gingerbean boot run-time script to create a memory buffer...which is actually more effective for memory boost than traditional third party-apps like swapper2 and ram expander (PS: no need to install ram boosting apps on this ROM). also, theres a new feature which is the internal sd or emmc(embeded media card); presently, high end android fly an internal as well as an external sd; thanks too gingerbean, we too can fly our own internal sd, albeit jus a meger (16mb), the applications for apps/scripts that require to reside on system memory is a prospect to view.....annnnd..currently, new linking means has been developed (thanks to a named resident Dev) using root explorer, i believe can still be used increase the size of this partition

PhonesRe: Custom ROM For Tecno N3: Ginger-bean by xanders(op): 1:56am On May 27, 2013
lat4real: But what is the essence of third partition(linuxswap)?
in windows system we hav virtual memory, in linux systems we hav swap (memory/RAM buffer).the linuxswap is a partition optimized for swapping, which means you cant save any user data on it
PhonesRe: Custom ROM For Tecno N3: Ginger-bean by xanders(op): 7:52pm On May 26, 2013
Superuser problem? Just uninstall ur old super user before u install the rom...the process is the same for those who hav flashed n3 b4...xcept easier. If u wont mind loosing ur data, just flash the system using AIO or fastboot, and do a wipe via recovry. To enter flash mode, hold vol dwn and plug in cable for 5sec. To enter recovery hold vol up and plug cable for 5 sec
