05 Civic compared to Accord of same year?

I know for sure Accord is a bit uglier but has a roomy interior...That's all I know

Care to share your knowledge on engine performance, cost of spares, fuel economy, etc comparatively?

Thanks in advance.

I haven't used the accord so my opinion will be subjective at best. However, being of a higher vehicle class, it's definitely more expensive to run, but I can't say authoritatively by how much.
The civic is very basic with very little creature comforts, should translate to fewer electrical components that can go bad, which should also mean less expenses and IMPORTANTLY less complications during repairs.
The accord also carries a bigger engine which should translate to less fuel efficiency to the civic.
The accord on the other hand is more elegant and luxurious. The civic pales in comparison.
Having used the civic and the corolla, the civic remains my preferred option anyday.

Thanks boss, someone even advised me on going with a scanning device to diagnose..

Is the 07 civic not advisable also, I've been seeing some at the range of 1.1, 1.2million and above on jiji

2003-2005 is your best and most practical choice... Cheaper to buy and cheaper to repair and maintain. Parts for the 07 you're considering are more expensive.
Keep it simple, keep your operating expenses low so you pay back quicker.
Person wey use Volvo S40 and person wey use 03 civic, na the same fare dem de collect

He didn't cause anything. As you like to treat your rider depends on you! It's a free world. If I decide to treat them well, then it's my kind of person. I've always been nice to people even before bolt. No matter the rider's character, my rating, etc, I'll always be me! I don't mind carrying their load!

I recently picked an aged woman from Luth to somolu....got to her destination, money was 1500. She said; Ah, omo mi, 1 thousand naira lo wa lọ wọ mi(my son, 1k is what I have)
I told her not to worry, that she should keep it. She insisted on giving me the 1k. She thanked me well. I smiled and greeted her and then i left. This is me. At times I leave 100 naira if client does not have change. This is me.

Do as pleases you to riders and let me do as pleases me!

Men them
Please ehn, quick one...

By January, I intend setting aside 1.25M for getting a vehicle...Ideally between 750K - 1M for the actual purchase and 250K minimum for the small small initial fixes and tune-up...

See the issue, most vehicles I see within that range is only that accord (I think 04) with a rear I consider to be ugly.

Can that amount be used to get a 7th gen civic (without police case and maybe with small resolvable issues)?

Based on how Naija be, I really need to get this asap so that when work no dey, man go get something to fall back on while pushing for higher things...

This will be my first vehicle. Been avoiding having to drive in this city but as e dey be now, person gats get at least three viable streams of income to have a chance at something resembling a normal life...

I greet una in advance for sincere opinions...

Gazzuz has a Kia Rio for sale @ 700k. You can check it out. Might not be a bad buy as he has a reputation to uphold on nairaland

I have NEVER met a partner that takes back his/her car from a driver that regularly remit his agreed fees, obeying all the rules and regulation that was set and agreed upon by both parties before car key was released...You see, partners only want TWO THINGS basically, pay your rent and maintain my car in your care...It's only on this thread that i find drivers paying regularly and taking care of partners car, and yet claim partners still collect car o. Those partners please, are they not in the biz to make money? #yinmu #Keep deceiving yourself.

I understand your plight bro God will bless your hustle and give you ur own. Believe most partners are evil there's nothing you can ever do to satisfy human being not even your wife so don't think of making an attempt.

The other time I said it but you took offence. I'll say it again unequivocally, y'all paint drivers as saints and the partner as the devil when in most cases the reverse is the case.
Unless the partner gives you a lemon, all the owner of the car wants is for you to use his car properly and pay his rent as agreed, but we all know that many drivers have a problem with that.

P.s, this has nothing to do with the brother's untold story as it is untold.

In all my grammar, my point is u will burst your engine if u try to hit the needled at the end of the speedometer if your car has not been enhanced.
Look for horsepower and d speed limit of your car, don't look at the max speed printed on the speedometer. Trying to hit the speed limit sef is dangerous, as our 15year old engines aren't at optimal state to reach that speed.

Oh well... That's why I said"out of the factory".
Then again, many recent vehicles add a small electric motor to increase horses. The motor allows it more power while taking the demand off the combustion engine, also reduces emissions.

Speeding is dangerous.

This one is so annoying, like what's your problem.

However, also annoying for me is when you de speed, you come tailgate me horning and flashing your lights when there's a free lane, oga you met me here o and there are 3 other lanes. Me sef I'll use my hazard lights to tell you geraway

Indeed they are heavy, i had the 2010 xc90 for about a year and half before i upgraded to 2012 r design. If i don take off i don go be that , unless i wan play with the person.

On Lagos Ibadan express, i dey fire am. The vehicle is too comfy! The R design trim is sleek.

Las las e go hard to thief volvo. I go share pic someday.

My major issue with the Volvo, mine and my brother's, it kinda takes some seconds to get going, but once it's off, ooooooohhhh it's gone. Na that slight delay de make coro boys think say we be mate.
I remember racing one Camry muscle between Berger and oworo on noght, the guy must have been surprised. Overtook him at alapere, slowed down for him to catch up at ogudu then dusted him at ifako, slowed down for him at oworo saluted him before turning off to gbagada.
For the XC90 I de fear say the brake no go hold the weight, it's heavy maahnn.
The comfort, it's sweeeeeett

No no no...on modern cars, the speedometer is a couple of Tens of miles/kms more than the top speed the car is designed to reach. The extra is for economics or marketing reasons.
For Economic reasons; So they can use thesame speedometer on different models/trims and
For Marketing reasons; so u will think ur machine can go that fast when in actual sense it can't.

To some degree I'd agree and then again disagree.
I think the major reasons for the adjustments are to protect the engine and the environment.
Like Many new cars won't let you rev beyond 4/5000 RPM for "environment" sake, even if you floor the accelerator.
Yes, some models/trims share parts and like you said some adjustments for maybe 10 extra KM.
But for significant difference between trims, things are different over and under the skin. A corolla S sports a different instrument cluster. A corolla xrs is a complete different beast and it's instrument cluster is different too same as its top speed.
Then again, aerodynamics, the faster you go the more wind resistance. That's why as you approach those extremely high speeds the increment is slower. Given enough room, without the limiter the car will do its stated top speed

Coming to mainland on 3MB, i’ve done 120miles/hr with my xc90. I didn’t even notice i was speeding that much. Na midnight!

I haven't driven the XC90 like that, the car feels heavy so I don't feel comfortable pushing it hard and I've not had the chance to drive it outside Lagos.
My brother says you don't feel like you're going fast in it, him na 160km/hr and car feels like your driving leisurely

Most of those YouTube videos, d cars have been enhanced. That's why u can see them achieving high speeds. Don't try it with ur normal car.

There is a relationship between the Horse Power of your car and the top speed it can achieve at 1,000 rpms

Stock ride... Though anybody can claim anything.
Those limits you speak of start to come into play when you approach top speed. The speed increase slows down considerably as RPM approaches redline, it's to save the engine I think. This is on stock cars. Out of the factory the car is programmed to achieve the speed on the speedometer.
Moded cars will surpass the top speed easily if so modified. Air intakes are larger, ECU is reprogrammed etc

During the day?

Maybe I've been passing on the wrong days

There are still cars littered in different lanes

The highest I usually do is a 120, and still only few cars keep up.

sad

You know yesterday was Sunday.

I try to read the traffic, anticipate where the space is or will be and I move in.
What I always say is,a lot of driving is understanding the relationship of time and space. How quickly can I go through this space, will I go through this space, how quickly do I need to go etc
Many drivers will see a car moving right and they'll try to accelerate in that same direction, I move into the space the car is leaving, that way I don't have to reduce speed.

This O/D button is in every Toyota pre 2008

What do you think it's there for? grin grin

Do your research and get back to me.

I'm not your average driver cool cool

O/D won't make you exceed the car's limits, it just improves your acceleration and aggression from the engine. Like going into sports mode.
Your horses and torque is preset, unless your engine has been moded

Very easy Before the adekunle ramp, after that point, traffic becomes slower and busier then the expansion joints from that point too makes one slow down.
