Hi. |
linusmels:Thanks for your advice. This has been my approach. But I read that some new accounts have issues with verifying payment, so you can give them time , etc. |
Hi everyone. Kudos to the author of this thread, you shared a lot of helpful information. I have a problem though. Since I opened my upwork, I havent gotten a buyer. Last week I got my first two interviews and I was so happy. The first one, the lady needed me to create a user account on her company's platform. Unfortunately, the platform doesn't accept Nigerian IP. That's how she stopped responding. The second dude, he gave me the job, but he hasn't verified payment, so I cant send the job. Although I told him, that I had almost finished and that he needed to verify payment. Thats how that one too hasn't replied since Thursday. What can/should I do? My connects have finished and I havent had a single buyer |
Thanks for this masterclass. I wanna work for myself bas much as possible, but I'm not above apprenticeship. Please what is YMYL sir ![]() PeaceJoyLove: |
The Lord of the Rings is an epic high-fantasy novel by English author and scholar J. R. R. Tolkien. Set in Middle-earth, intended to be Earth at some distant time in the past, the story began as a sequel to Tolkien's 1937 children's book The Hobbit, but eventually developed into a much larger work. Written in stages between 1937 and 1949, The Lord of the Rings is one of the best-selling books ever written, with over 150 million copies sold. The title refers to the story's main antagonist, the Dark Lord Sauron, who in an earlier age created the One Ring to rule the other Rings of Power given to Men, Dwarves, and Elves, in his campaign to conquer all of Middle-earth. From homely beginnings in the Shire, a hobbit land reminiscent of the English countryside, the story ranges across Middle-earth, following the quest to destroy the One Ring mainly through the eyes of the hobbits Frodo, Sam, Merry and Pippin. Although often called a trilogy, the work was intended by Tolkien to be one volume of a two-volume set along with The Silmarillion. For economic reasons, The Lord of the Rings was published over the course of a year from 29 July 1954 to 20 October 1955, in three volumes titled The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King. The work is divided internally into six books, two per volume, with several appendices of background material. Some later editions print the entire work in a single volume, following the author's original intent. Tolkien's work, after an initially mixed reception by the literary establishment, has been the subject of extensive analysis of its themes and origins. Influences on this earlier work, and on the story of The Lord of the Rings, include philology, mythology, Christianity, earlier fantasy works, and his own experiences in the First World War. The Lord of the Rings has since been reprinted many times and translated into at least 38 languages. Its enduring popularity has led to numerous references in popular culture, the founding of many societies by fans of Tolkien's works, and the publication of many books about Tolkien and his works. It has inspired numerous derivative works, including paintings, music, films, television, video games, and board games, helping create and shape the modern fantasy genre, within which it is considered one of the greatest books of all time. Prayers for the Tolkien family as they mourn the loss of Priscilla Tolkien, youngest child and only daughter of JRR Tolkien. |

Good morning guys. It is a new year and already the pressure is on to better myself this year. And that is why I have taken this step of coming here to publicly solicit for a job. I really need a job in Ibadan. Cos I recently relocated here and I must confess, the city is nice, much nicer than Warri where I previously resided. But unless I am able to get something worthwhile, I may have to leave soon. So, I'm desperate. I have a lot of skills as well. I am a graduate, an ex-teacher(I promised myself I wouldn't go back to the classroom because, mhen, its not worth it at all), I am also computer literate. I can work as a PA, a companion, a housekeeper, even a cook(I am a good cook), accountant, sales rep, shop minder, manager, etc I can babysit kids after school, or tutor kids in primary school subjects or English Language and English Lit for secondary school. I am a quick learner as well as well behaved, discret and respectful. Save a soul. CC: mods, lalasticlala, marcusagrippa, Codedboy95, Metetiexpress |

2 She woke that morning and remembered that today was the day She was starting as a new teacher at a new school. She jumped up and started to prepare and one hour later she was ready. She walked into her first class behind the Vice Principal of Academics of the School. “Good morning students. This is your new French Teacher, her name is Miss Edigin and I expect you all to make her feel right at home!” “Good morning Miss!”, the class chorused. “Good morning students. My name is Miss Edigin and im going to be your French teacher for the foreseeable future as your Vice Principal has just told you. Now,I would like to know all of your names because I believe that we are going to be friends. And we will make this interesting by doing it in French. So who will start? The teacher finished speaking and turned to look around the class expectantly. All the students stayed quiet. So she moved to the back seat and spoke to the student who was the tallest and biggest boy in the class. She had spotted him early and suspected that he would be either the class bully or the class leader. She smiled at him and said: [i]Salut. “Salut.” “Je m’appelle Mademoiselle Edigin. Et je suis professeur de francais. Et toi? “Je m’appelle Jeremy.” “Enchante” “Oui,Enchante” From that moment, she had no problems convincing the class to follow her instructions because she had received the seal of approval from Jeremy and no student would dare cross him by making things difficult for her.. And she had been right. He was the class leader and sometimes bully. Whatever he supported was unanimously carried and if he decided he didn’t like a teacher, woe betide that teacher as explainable incidents and constant disruptions from the students would be the other of the day in such a teacher’s classroom. All the while this was going on,the teacher observed Steve. He was quiet and seemed to be studying her before he would start talking and being freer in her presence. There came a day when his seatmate was missing his pen and he demanded a search of Steven’s bag. Of course Steven refused. The boy went straight to the teacher and reported the matter. Steven retorted,” I am innoculent. I didn’t take or even see his writing equipment.” There was silence during which the teacher wore this expression on her face like she was trying to hold back a laugh. She pursed her lips. “James,(this was the name of the boy accusing Steven.)Steven says he’s innocent and I believe him. Here’s a pen. Use this until you find yours.” She then turned to Steven and smiled. He fidgeted under her gaze but never looked shifty. “where did you learn the word innocent?” |
Dear readers, please tell me if you think it's horrible. I'll stop. |
One other time,Steve was accompanying his mother to an event in town and they had to take the bus into town. While they were in the bus,the conductor started to collect money and he did this in the usual fashion. He would stretch out his hand and take the money from the passengers, sometimes over the head of other passengers. Other times, someone would volunteer to pass the money to him. When it came to his mum’s turn,The conductor said in his usual brusque manner,”Oya madame, bring your money.” And Steve immediately responded: “Don’t use that grandiose voice to talk to my mother!” The conductor was momentarily shocked. He looked down to see the owner of the the big words and he roared with laughter. By now, everyone in the bus was completely invested in seeing what was about to happen next. But Steve’s mother only smiled and shushed Steve as she gave the conductor his money. The Conductor nick-named her Mama Professor and specially held the door open for her when they alighted. All the way to the meeting,Mama Steve was begging Steve to keep quiet during the proceedings because she she wanted to be spared the embarrassment of his big grammar. |
HEADS-UP! THIS IS A LONG STORY. THE BOY WHO LOVED BIG WORDS Steven knew that he need to get home before his mother arrived from the market. He wanted to finish his chores and get to his homework. He also wanted to finish reading the novel he had found in his brother’s locker. H had sneaked it out and had thoroughly enjoyed the few chapters he had read so far. He knew though that asking his brother for it would meet with an emphatic NO and even an inquiry into how he had discovered the book in the first place, followed by a flogging with the belt. “Stevovo!” “Nor dey call me that your atrocious name abeg.” “You don bring another one again! Atrocious!” All the boys burst into laughter and began talking at once. The truth was, as much as Steven liked to sound knowledgeable with his big big grammar,he seldom knew exactly what those worlds meant and often misused them and so he often provided for comic relief among his friends and his parents friends whenever he let one fly. One day,the teacher asked Steven to get her something from her office. Steven went there and and decided to show off his big words to the teachers there. He stood at the door and said loudly: “Please teachers of masculine and feminine genders, may I come in? There was a beat of silence where nobody reacted. Then the lady seated nearest the door stuck her neck forward to see exactly who it was. Talk about general commotion. Teachers howled in laughter as they held their ribs. Some stood up from whatever they were doing before and come to the door to see the wonderful person person that had decided to entertain them that afternoon. Steven was carried from where he stood outside the door right inside the staffroom and placed at the middle. They gathered around him and laughed at him with fresh takes coming up by the second. At last when they had exhausted themselves, they went back to what they were doing leaving him standing there literally wilted in shame. |
Hello guys. This is a short story. Tell me what you think. ICE That night, his mother didn’t come home. He sat up for her, waiting and waiting, praying with each breathe he took. He did not know exactly why he was so afraid, but he knew something awful had befallen her and that was why she didn’t come home to get him dinner. He sat up and waited and after a while when he touched his face,he realised that he had been crying without being fully conscious of the fact. And still he couldn’t get up off the couch. He needed his mother. He spotted a face looking in through the holes in the window curtains and he knew that his waiting was over. Even before mama Ekele stepped into the room, and told him the news,he already knew. The tears that rolled soundlessly down his cheeks did not free him still from what could be described as a particular case of paralysis or brain shock. How would he survive alone,in this white man’s world without his mother to shield him? And at what point, would they realize that she had entered their country with a child and come for him too? He sat there crying and when he opened his eyes again,it was morning. |
