Business / Re: Jumia Shuts Down Operations In Cameroon by Xone3(f): 8:24am On Nov 20, 2019 |
nedekid:It is their fault o, the charges can kill. I personally was a vendor before I shut my stores. They expect you to sell with 100 naira and they gain 1000naira. They keep calling you to reduce price. The losses I have made in Jumia hen, I go rent shop and pay for 2 years with it in Lagos. They are fraudulent, make policies that will benefit them only, change policies with vendors knowing. The number of vendors that have lost millions to them can't be counted. If you happen to know vendors, ask them. They will explain. I have paid commission of 200k+ in a month with my gain not upto 50k. 3 Likes |

TGM2015: Don't blame the vendors all together o. Imagine that I buy an item for 200 naira, I sell it for 1000, Jumia collects 600 naira. 399 as commission and 300 for shipping contribution, I am left with 400 naira, packaging material is 100 naira, printing is 50 naira. What is my gain then? This has pushed people to the brink o. They will still call you to reduce price but keep increasing their commission. They(Jumia) are the cause of their Woes. 3 Likes 1 Share |

GraGra247: Trading on Jiji is great but 3 things are involved. 1) Your prices have to be very cheap like wholesales prices 2) You must decide whether to accept pay on delivery or payment before delivery and which shipping company to use. 3) Be ready to pay for jiji subscription for at least 3 months. |

In the aftermath of events following Jumia being listed on the stock market and it being tagged as a fraud by the investment research firm Citron Research (https://finance.yahoo.com/news/shareholder-alert-pomerantz-law-firm-235200258.html ) , there has been quite a lot of changes made on the website affecting most of its vendors significantly. It is no wonder that most of the vendors have had to put their stores on holiday mode or closure as conditions continue to worsen. New vendors are being on-boarded everyday to fill the ever growing gap of decline in products and vendors. Jumia seems to be at a stage where they need money seriously. In this period, there have been * Significant increase in commission rate (least commision per item is now pegged at 300) *Increase in shipping contribution( Vendors are also charged shipping contribution to customers, to reduce the cost to customers they say) *You are unable/barred from sending an email to them. You can only raise a claim(Most of the time the claims are rendered invalid or not responded to) *Linking of BVN number to your seller center(a means to secure your store they say, however, hearsay says it is a way to know how many stores you have and debit an erring store) *Increase in charges for order cancellation from *2 to *3 and this is pegged at 2500. *Jumia has refused to pay for invoiced items. They claim they didn't receive the invoice and you forfeit the items. You are told you can't be paid and your item cannot be returned either. * The return rate/delivery failed is higher and you begin to wonder if the items were shipped at all. * Goods are damaged, exchanged and used before being returned. * You lose money continually whether your items deliver or not while Jumia keeps winning. * You are victimized if you report a hub or agent. You run around like fools making sure you fulfil an order despite all odds and it comes back damaged, used, broken etc. Or is it the policies put in place to make sure vendors pay for whatever problem they have. They capture your products for flimsy excuses and you're debited 3k for that. The joy of making sales is nothing compared to the bitterness of realising you are running at a loss. Most vendors happiness are short-lived when they realise that their capital is gone and what they have to show for it is a heap of waste called returns. Do you know you can not ship a delivery failed item? The packaging probably came back crumpled from Jumia handling, does not have a full stop or some of the parts came back missing? etc. The new vendors are not paid until after at least two weeks. If you're thinking of joining Jumia as a vendor, kindly take note of the "Account statement feature" on your dashboard, let it be your friend, download it every week and study it. Kindly note that you will make profit but the losses may eventually outweigh the gain. Jumia has proven to be a blessing and a malediction, it will make you and eventually break you. Be prepared for the sleepless nights, the headaches, weight loss/gain, frustrations and don't forget you may have to borrow money to fulfill orders sometimes(LMAO) trust me, it happens even to the best of the best. You labor, we gain. 2 Likes

Blaqruby: Thanks a lot for your write-up. God bless you. I actually thought of it too. What if she was kidnapped, the tatoo placed on her body, used and dumped. She could have the tattoo placed on her to make it look like she is a hoe and stigmatise her. What if she was just unfortunate? Even if she was a prostitute, it doesn't make us judges or any better than her as a human being. It is so appalling to see what we humans have become, how our feelings are dead and cold. Everyone is fighting or struggling and sometimes the measures people take to succeed are hmmmmmm. 3 Likes |

The frustration is real, calculating your G.P is hmmmm, passing with E is a thing of Joy. I never had a bad experience with lecturers because I read likey life depended on it, I was always in my hostel, but I came out with 2:2 |
