Federal Government, Wednesday said banks in Lagos, Ogun and Abuja will begin operations from Monday 4th of May, 2020.

Disclosing this, the National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Dr Sani Aliyu, gave conditions and preventive measures to stem the spread of covid-19.

He said banks would be allowed to open between 8am and 2pm in the three places.

His words, “In terms of the banks, this continues to be a recurring issue for all of us. We have been in touch with the CBN governor.

“Moving on from Monday, banks will open and they will operate normal services from 8am to 2pm. That is six hours but there will be the usual restrictions.

For instance, self-distancing and the use of temperature monitors, hand hygiene, and making sure the capacities of banking halls are restricted so that people do not come together.”

They discovered what they thought would keep them immune... ofcourse no one would tag their discovery a 'cure' until the super powers declare one....
But we're in a deep shit if we're waiting for a declared cure from WHO

Acidosis:
Let's be sincere with ourselves, the cure for Covid-19 can never come from Africa.

You just can't mix some liquids and tag it coronavirus medicine and expect the world to accept it. If chloroquine, ampicillin, paracetamol and other globally accepted medicines were produced in this crude manner, a lot of us would have died from unknown contraindications or side effects.
I don't like it when people dwell on self-deceit. It makes you waste your life on rumour, senseless pessimism, and "impossible impossibilities."

Not everything you see on Google should be read.

Unarmed Madagascar soldiers went door-to-door in the capital Antananarivo, doling out sachets of a local herbal tea touted by President Andry Rajoelina as a powerful remedy against the novel coronavirus.

Baptised COVID-Organics, the tonic is derived from artemisia — a plant with proven efficacy in treating malaria — as well as other indigenous herbs.

It has been developed by the Madagascar Institute of Applied Research (IMRA) but has not been tested internationally.

“This herbal tea gives results in seven days,” Rajoelina announced at its official launch on Tuesday.

“We can change the history of the entire world,” he said, after downing a dose. “Two people have now been cured by this treatment.”

Mainstream scientists have warned of the potential risk from untested herbal brews.

There is currently no known cure for coronavirus, which has infected at least 121 people in Madagascar and more than 2.6 million worldwide.

Yet military officials on the Indian Ocean island nation say the infusion would be better than nothing.

“It will strengthen immunity,” said military doctor Colonel Willy Ratovondrainy on state television, as troops launched a mass distribution campaign.

In pairs, soldiers followed people through Antananarivo’s narrow alleyways into their homes.

“Good morning, we are here to distribute the COVID-Organics tea,” one of them said.

Jean-Louis Rakotonandrasana gratefully accepted the free packet of herbs.

“We are eager to try this infusion since we saw president Rajoelina drink it on television,” the 58-year-old said.

Most of Madagascar’s 26 million inhabitants live in grinding poverty with limited access to healthcare and regularly take herbal teas for a variety of common ailments.

‘I think it’s great’
“I think it’s great,” said Dominique Rabefarihy, clutching a sachet of COVID-Organics in the poor Ankazomanga neighbourhood.

“It reassures me that soldiers are watching out for my family’s health and security,” the housewife said.

Madagascar deployed the army last month to help enforce a lockdown in its three main cities to curb the spread of COVID-19.

Soldiers who set up roadblocks and patrolled streets are now making sure everyone receives a sachet of the infusion and instructions for use.

“One infusion goes into four litres of water,” said Rabefarihy, repeating the instructions. “Two cups per day for adults, one cup for children, nothing for pregnant women.”

Madagascar’s coronavirus cases remain relatively low and there have been no recorded deaths so far.

But the country’s fragile healthcare system would easily be swamped by a surge in cases and authorities are banking on prevention.

Their aim is to raise awareness about the virus and strengthen people’s immune systems.

“We highly recommend taking this plant-based infusion,” said presidential cabinet head Lova Ranoramoro.

‘Ready-to-drink’
COVID-Organics is set to be distributed across the island, with a particular focus on the worst-affected cities of Antananarivo, Fianarantsoa and Toamasina.

Fixed collection points have also been set up in the capital.

Ignoring social distancing cues, a crowd gathered around a kiosk, lining up for the so-called “miracle drink”, being decanted into recycled water and soda plastic bottles.

“Here a ready-to-drink liquid version is available for everyone,” said municipal representative Rufin Rafanomezantsoa.

“As long as the WHO (World Health Organization) cannot provide any medicine to cure this disease, I trust President Andry Rajoelina’s proposed remedy,” said Jean Paul Rakotozafy, 72, as he queued up.

The WHO has cautioned against untested home therapies.

“While some western, traditional or home remedies may provide comfort and alleviate symptoms of COVID-19, there is no evidence that current medicine can prevent or cure the disease,” it said in an emailed statement to AFP.

It added that there are “several ongoing clinical trials” of both western and traditional medicines.

The homespun “remedy” was launched as confinement measures were progressively lifted. The president said the lockdown was eased because a “solution against coronavirus” had been found.

Public transport resumed in Antananarivo on Monday and schools re-opened on Wednesday.

Some children were given a cup of COVID-Organics in class.

“Of course each parent is free not to allow their child to take it,” said the cabinet chief Ranoramoro.

“For now, no one has objected.”

HealthCovid 19 Reports On Children by xristos(op): 12:55pm On Apr 21, 2020
May God not let this happen to our children n families because no parent can bear this..but I've been curious...from all the reports we've been getting from NCDC n rumours, why haven't we heard about any under age being infected either toddlers or teens....is it that they are immune to the infected parents or parents are not infected at all....

Atleast from the confirmed cases, those people should have had some contacts with their home children....just thinking aloud.

Are children immune to covid?

HealthCOVID-19: UK Begins Evacuation Of Nationals From Nigeria by xristos(op): 7:01pm On Apr 15, 2020
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread, the British Government is to evacuate its citizens from Nigeria.

The evacuate will begin on Saturday this week from both Abuja and Lagos airports, according to a statement from the British High Commission signed by a Senior Press and Public Affairs Officer, Chris Ogunmodede. The statement, which was sent to Vanguard on Wednesday, quoted the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing, as saying that those to be evacuated are British citizens in Nigeria with residential addresses in the United Kingdom.

According to the statement, the affected persons are to pay a fee of below £500 for the flight which will begin on Saturday this week. The High Commission said: “To be eligible for these flights you need to be a British citizen normally resident in the UK and we will be prioritising vulnerable people.

“When you book, you will be asked for your passport details and a UK address and we will be doing eligibility checks. “I should also say that making a booking does not automatically guarantee you a seat on the first flight, but if you are eligible you will be transferred to a subsequent flight.

“With regards to the questions on getting to the airport, it is very important that you print and take your ticket with you, and if you are stopped at checkpoints, show that to security personnel and make it clear that you are going to the airport to take a repatriation flight to the UK.

“Those of you who are successful in making bookings, we will email you with all the details you will need including the time you will need to be at the airport,” the statement said.

Fitness enthusiasts numbering 202 were on Thursday tried by two Lagos mobile courts at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Panti, Yaba, for violating lockdown order.

Newsmen reports a task force arrested violators of the order at over 15 areas in the state including Yaba, Agege, Ogudu/Ojota and Iju while they were either jogging, cycling or loitering.

They were charged before two magistrates – Mrs Makanju Oshodi and Mr Nurudeen Layeni of the Lagos Mobile Courts.

They all faced a charge of violating the Social Distancing Directives contrary to Regulation 1(1) of the COVID-19 Regulations which is punishable under Section 5 of the Public Health Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The violators who mostly pleaded guilty to the charge, were ordered to pay fines ranging from N5, 000 to N10, 000.

They are to make the payment to the Lagos State Government.

The courts also ordered them to immediately begin a two-hour community service.

Speaking to newsmen, the Coordinator of Mobile Courts, Lagos State Ministry of Justice, Mrs Arinola Ogbara-Banjoko, said that over 260 persons had been tried by the courts for various violations since the lockdown began in Lagos.

“All apprehended juvenile offenders and persons with special needs were not arraigned before the courts.

“They were over 50 and are not a part of the over 260 persons tried by the mobile courts.

“Deaf and dumb persons were separated because we do not have an interpreter.

“Fines of N10, 000 and community service were handed by the court,” she said.
