The Debt Management Office (DMO) praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his bravery in ending the contentious fuel subsidy, calling the program a waste of the nation’s resources.

At a one-day technical roundtable on the economic strategy for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, organized by ActionAid Nigeria, Director-General of DMO Patience Oniha made the commendation.

She claimed that removing subsidies and unifying the currency will greatly improve the economy, notwithstanding some difficulties in implementation.

Liverpool FC have confirmed that the top level of the new Anfield Road stand will NOT be open for the first home game of the new Premier League season against Bournemouth on August 19, according to clubs sports journalist, Neil Jones.

On Thursday, May 4, the Naira strengthened against the US dollar in the Peer-to-Peer (P2P), Investors and Exporters (I&E), and black market windows of the foreign exchange window.

When compared to the previous session’s exchange rate of N751/$1, it increased N5 on the dollar in the P2P wing during the session to settle at N746/$1. In the black market, the value of the Nigerian Naira increased relative to the US dollar by N2, selling for N735 to $1 as opposed to N737 to $1 on Wednesday.

In a similar vein, on Thursday, the local currency gained 12 Kobo, or 0.03 percent, against the US Dollar in the I&E section of the market, closing at N462.88/$1 as opposed to N463.00/$1 at the end of the midweek session....

Prior to the February 25th 2023 Nigeria’s Presidential election, there were strong permutations that if the electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission led by Prof Mahmood Yakubu failed to conduct a free and fair election, the nation will explode in flames.
