A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mike Ozekhome, has clarified that the Supreme Court of Nigeria only paused the new naira note policy. Ozekhome who appeared on Channels Television on Wednesday night in an interview monitored by The News Chronicle noted that the apex court will still have to decide on the matter. It would be recalled that a seven-man panel of the Supreme Court on Wednesday, led by Justice John Okoro in a unanimous ruling granted an interim injunction restraining the Federal Government from implementing the CBN’s February 10 deadline for the swapping of the old naira notes with the new ones... https://www.thenews-chronicle.com/supreme-court-only-paused-not-stopped-new-currency-policy-mike-ozekhome/?utm_source=ReviveOldPost&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost follow us on Facebook for more https://web.facebook.com/tncng Follow us on twitter https://twitter.com/ThenewsC

Every country that aspires to elite status in the league of developed countries is usually clear about one thing: that security is an irreducible ingredient that goes into the making of that status. It is until people feel safe and secure within a country and are able to have some degree of certainty over the safety of their properties and interests at all times, people cannot really be said to enjoy the citizenship of a developed country. https://www.thenews-chronicle.com/bakori-and-the-butchers-of-nigeria/?utm_source=ReviveOldPost&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost follow us on Facebook for more https://web.facebook.com/tncng Follow us on twitter https://twitter.com/ThenewsC

Nigerians have been advised to shun all kinds of protests as we approach the 2023 general elections. Making the call on Thursday was a faith-based civil society organisation, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC). In a press statement issued on Thursday 9th February, 2023, the executive director of MURIC, Professor Ishaq Akintola, warned Nigerians not to fall into the trap of enemies of democracy who are scheming either to impose an interim government or to ignite a military intervention. The group therefore advised Nigerians to be patient as the general election is just sixteen days away.... https://www.thenews-chronicle.com/avoid-all-kinds-of-protests-at-this-time-muric/?utm_source=ReviveOldPost&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost follow us on Facebook for more https://web.facebook.com/tncng Follow us on twitter https://twitter.com/ThenewsC

A coalition of civil rights organisations (CSOs) have kicked against the Supreme Court Judgement that suspended the new naira note policy. The supreme court has declared the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan as APC candidate for the Yobe North Senatorial election. The Senate President will be replacing Bashir Machina whose name was recognised by INEC and had earlier won at the appeal court. It is completely heart-rending and morally incomprehensible the level some Nigerians can go to excuse President Muhammadu Buhari for the wreck that his administration has made of Nigeria and Nigerians. His spin doctors would blame anything and everything under the sun for his sloppy performance in office, except the culprits himself. Buhari’s failure is self-inflicted and he should completely take responsibility for the failure of his government. Today, everybody is in one queue or the other. The perennial fuel scarcity has remained with the country for virtually all of the President’s seven-and-half years’ tenure, so far, and everybody and association or union, is blamed for the failure of the petroleum sector, except the substantive minister of petroleum, who happens to be President Buhari... https://www.thenews-chronicle.com/el-rufai-did-not-say-anything-new/?utm_source=ReviveOldPost&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=ReviveOldPost follow us on Facebook for more https://web.facebook.com/tncng Follow us on twitter https://twitter.com/ThenewsC

Recently, a nonentity named Sharon Ogechi Okoroafor from Ngor-Okpala local government area of Imo state, had exposed her imbecility and poor home training when she sought to draw lurid attention to herself online. She had reportedly posted a controversial video message on TikTok informing whoever cared to watch or listen that she had graduated from the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Imo State, by the grace of God. And above all, by her private parts! “Omo, today is the final day. Nekede bye-bye, this stress ends today. Finally, I’m now a graduate of Federal Polytechnic, Nekede. The invincibility of Fulani in our political space is far more than what can be seen and measured. From the conquest of Sokoto and northern Nigeria till date, their expansionism and entrenchment hasn’t abated. That is who Fulanis are, and Datti is one of them! The younger brother of Hakeem Baba-Ahmed on whom I wrote: *”Northern Elders and Their Mouth from Mauritania”.* Reminding me of Datti’s Fulani identity is needless. “Was Tinubu planning to be the president of the living or the dead?…” Friedrich Gustav Emil Martin Niemöller was a German theologian and Lutheran pastor. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out – because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out -because I was not a Jew.
