A staff of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) has cried out after allegedly being brutalized by soldiers of the 32 Artillery Brigade, Owena Cantonment in Akure, Ondo State who were effecting a lockdown order issued by the state government.

The Engineer who disclosed that the incident occurred at Ondo Road where the NTA and the Barracks are located, said all his plea stating he was on his way home from the office fell on deaf ears even after he presented his ID card.

Mr Jide Bello hinted on suing the Nigerian Army and the Ondo State government for the alleged harassment, after subjecting himself to 14 days isolation.

He wrote;

"My unfortunate experience tonight in the hands of Nigerian army along ondo road after the evening news at exactly 1950hrs in the name of curfew declared by Ondo state government led by Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu .

They asked for my identification in which I obliged but education is key in any field we belong, very unfortunate the military man could not understand what I mean by NTA and could not read anything from the I.D card but thank God for a superior officer that later intervened and begged me but am looking out to sue Nigerian army and Oñdo. State government for harassment.

Am hereby subjecting myself to 14days isolation because I don’t know what they might done to my health."

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is playing host to a coronavirus testing operation, making Spurs the first Premier League club to do so.

A COVID-19 testing and swabbing operation began late last week in the 62,000-seater stadium, opening its doors to patients after being converted into an NHS facility on Tuesday.


The stadium’s basement car park is being used as a site for drive-through tests for North Middlesex University Hospital staff, their families and dependants.

There will be up to 70 tests carried out per day, with 10 nurses on the site between 10am-2pm five days a week.

Spurs’ new home has been been repurposed and fitted out to house patients of North Middlesex Hospital’s Women’s Outpatient Services, helping keep pregnant women away from the hospital and freeing up space for the treatment of Covid-19.

The club’s media cafe, away dressing room, NFL dressing room, flash interview rooms and press conference room are all now being used by NHS staff to treat up to 70 patients per day.

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC and Dettol Nigeria, have both reacted after the Lagos state police command this evening arrested actress, Funke Akindele-Bello, for flouting the lockdown order in Lagos state.

Funke and her husband, JJC Skillz had a birthday party at their Amen estate home in Lagos state last night and was attended by quite a number of people which contravenes the social distancing order of the Lagos state government. She was picked up by men of the Lagos state police command this evening while her husband, singer Naira Marley have been asked to come forward for questioning.



Recall that shortly after the Coronavirus pandemic began in Lagos, Funke ran a video campaign sponsored by Dettol. In the video, she emphasised on the need for Nigerians to practice proper hygiene such as washing of their hands and social distancing. Many Nigerians on Twitter this morning bashed her for flouting the social distancing she advised Nigerians about in her campaign ad for Dettol.

Shortly after the news of her arrest broke, Dettol Nigeria on its Twiter page, said as a responsible organization, it does not condone any breach of the guidelines on Covid-19 and are concerned about the turn of events. NCDC on its part said it has not engaged brand ambassdors as part of its response to COVID-19.

A 4-year-old Malayan tiger at a Bronx Zoo in New York City has tested positive for COVID-19, in what is believed to be the first known infection in an animal in the U.S. or the first tiger anywhere in the World.

The announcement was made on by the federal officials and the zoo after a test was conducted in Iowa by the USDA’s National Veterinary Services Laboratory.



The tiger, Nadia, was exposed by a zoo worker who wasn’t yet showing symptoms, the zoo said. The zoo says “appropriate preventative measures” have been implemented to care for the cats and minimize further exposure.”

According to the Wildlife Conservation Society, six other large cats and three African lions are also showing Coronavirus symptoms, but they are all expected to recover.

“Though they have experienced some decrease in appetite, the cats at the Bronx Zoo are otherwise doing well under veterinary care and are bright, alert, and interactive with their keepers,” the zoo’s release said.

Following the Coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria, the Lebanese government today evacuated one hundred and forty Lebanese nationals via the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.

They were flown out of the Lagos airport by Middle East Airlines (MEA) after undergoing series of screening. The aircraft which flew into the country under humanitarian arrangement, departed the country on Sunday evening, April 5.


Earlier yesterday, 37 Egyptians were evacuated out of the country through the Sam Mbakwe International airport.

His death was announced by the Lagos Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi, on Twitter today April 5.

According to Professor Abayomi tweeted:

Ondo state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has tested negative for coronavirus.

The announcement was made by the governor on his official twitter handle this morning.

His tweet read;

"Good morning sir. The result is negative. Congratulations your Excellency” I just recieved the above text from the Commissioner for Health regarding my #Covid19 test results. We give all glory to God. Wish everyone affected speedy recovery."

Jamie O’Hara believes he has come up with the ultimate solution for the Premier League’s problem of how to end the 2019/20 season if coronavirus forces the campaign to finish without every match being played.

All Premier League and EFL fixtures have been suspended until April 3 at the earliest over the outbreak of COVID-19.

However, it is feared the season may not resume or come to a conclusion because of the pandemic.


There have been plenty of suggestions on what should happen if that is the case.

FA chairman Greg Clarke has recommended to the Premier League that the campaign CANNOT go on, while West Ham’s vice-chairman Karren Brady believes the season should be declared null and void, with results and league positions reset for the start of next term.

That would certainly be in the interest of the Hammers in their battle for Premier League survival (fancy that) but would be a cruel, cruel result for Liverpool.

The Reds are on the cusp of winning a first league championship in 30 years and their first ever Premier League title, and at 25 points clear at the top of the table few would begrudge them that honour.

It has even been claimed there are ‘plans’ in the works to crown Liverpool as champions anyway, even if the campaign is cancelled.

What that would mean for the teams challenging for the top four, in contention for relegation, and also the teams battling for promotion to the top flight, is currently uncertain.

But former Tottenham midfielder and current Billericay Town boss O’Hara believes he has the answer.

He said on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast: “It would be the most unfair thing in sport ever if Liverpool aren’t crowned champions – they MUST be crowned champions!

“They’re going to have an asterisk next to their name forever, which is going to be a shocker for them if they don’t get the season finished.

“But everyone is going to have to make compromises for this situation as the season is not going to play out, it’s not going to finish.

Former Liverpool youth-teamer Bobby Adekanye has scored his first professional goal, 12 days before his 21st birthday, after finding the net for Lazio in their 5-1 rout of SPAL in the Serie A on Sunday afternoon, allnigeriasoccer.

Manchester United have completed their first signing of the January 2020 transfer window, with the club confirming that midfielder Bruno Fernandes as completed a permanent move from Sporting CP.

The Portuguese midfielder will cost €55million (£46.56m), with another €10m due in add-ons depending on the club’s and Fernandes’ performances over the next few seasons, which represents a significantly outlay, particularly in January.
