Politics / Bello, Rochas Can't Tell Anambra People To Vote APC – APGA by yaqq: 9:59am On Oct 23, 2017
The National Coordinator APGA Media Warriors Forum, Evang Chinedu Obigwe, has said that Governors Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, Rochas Okorocha of Imo and Nasir El- Rufai of Kaduna lack the moral justification to tell Anambra people to vote for the governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC), Tony Nwoye. In a press release issued to newsmen on Sunday, Obigwe referred to APC governorship campaign flag off as a political macabre dance that will yield no tangible result, adding that the likes of Nwoye, Obaze and others have no political aplomb to get one single vote for themselves coming November 18th thus the reason they adopted ‘Godfatherism and Federal Might which convincingly will fail them. In his words, “Bello should bury his head in shame for owing Kogi Civil servants eleven months salary, thus the reason why Soje, an officer in the State teaching service commission allegedly committed suicide because of his inability to meet up with his financial obligations. Bello should better pay his civil servants rather mobilizing Kogi youths to Anambra State with tax payer’s money. “Rochas Okorocha on the other hand failed Imolites and the entire igbo race for honouring Jacob Zuma, President of South Africa with a chieftaincy title in imo State. He erected Zuma’s image with over 520 million Naira Imolites tax, yet said he owe no one an apology for doing so whereas Igbo’s are massacred in South Africa where his friend Zuma is the president. “El-Rufai himself insulted igbo’s with his widely reported comments as Chairman of APC restructuring committee. He said igbo’s are unequal to Northerners and for that reason cannot be treated equally with Northerners in Nigeria. What a flimflam, gibberish from a flibbertigibbet”. He said that the people of the State will not heed to El-Rufai political counsel since they are unequal to him and other Northerners. Giving reasons while he said that APC is going to lose out rightly in the forthcoming Anambra election, Obigwe said “the party is widely known as ‘All Promises Cancelled party’ which has nothing to offer except to impoverish the people as most of their governors have done to their various states.” In addition, he stated that APC in igbo land represents bad luck which if voted is tantamount to igbo’s bringing bad luck upon themselves. Obigwe finally said that Governor Obiano remained the best choice of the people of the State which not even the federal might can stop them from re electing him for a merited second term.

Politics / Director Who Committed Suicide Was Owed 9, Not 11 Months Salary – Kogi Govt by yaqq: 9:29pm On Oct 22, 2017
Kogi State Government has discredited news reports claiming it owed the late Mr. Edward Soje eleven months of unpaid salary as at the time he committed suicide.

In a press statement signed by the state Head of Service, Deaconess Deborah Ogunmola, government said the deceased civil servant was paid up till December 2016.

“His pay was stopped after proof emerged that he falsified his age records. His confession to the offence is on video to justify government stoppage of his salary,’’ Ogunmola said.

Soje, a Director in the state Teaching Service Commission was found hanging on a tree at the back of army barracks in Lokoja.

He was among workers being owed arrears of salaries ranging from two to 21 months by the state government.

Ogunmola, however, explained that following engagements with the labour which spanned several months, the Kogi governor magnanimously commuted the disciplinary action due against Soje and other certain categories of offenders by granting them pardon. “Pardoned members staff were processed for reinstatement and payment in batches. Mr Soje was in the September 2017 batch and he was aware of this fact. “The Kogi State Teaching Service Commission, where he worked has forwarded a template for payment to government and Mr Soje was aware that he was listed to receive six months back pay.

According to her, this leaves only 2 months (August and September) outstanding.

Ogunmola, who also hailed from Ogori, the same town with the deceased, said the government was saddened in no small measure by the alleged action of Soje.

She described Soje as a level 16 officer and a director in the Kogi State Civil Service.

She deplored media reports attributing Soje’s alleged decision to commit suicide to non-payment of salary.

“Edward Soje was not just my staff, he was also married to my sister-in-law. His death is shocking, both as one related to him in some way and one responsible for him in an official capacity.

“I met with him earlier last week and we discussed his situation, including the progress made in resolving his employment issues.

“There was no hint of this horrible decision in his demeanour. He did he appear to me as one who was depressed, let alone contemplating suicide. I am, therefore, understandably shocked by all of this.

“Government condoles with his family, especially his wife and three children. While we will not intrude into their grief over their sad loss, we will stand with them.”

Politics / Kogi Civil Servant Owed 11 Months Salary Commits Suicide by yaqq: 10:07pm On Oct 21, 2017
A director in the Kogi State civil service, Edward Soje, has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself on a tree in Lokoja, the state capital.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered on Saturday in Lokoja that the dangling body of Mr. Soje was found on a tree behind the mammy market at the Maigumeri barracks, the Nigeria Army Command Record.

The 54-year-old civil servant is believed to have taken his life barely 10 days after his wife of 17 years gave birth to a set of male triplets in a private hospital in Abuja. The couple had been childless before then.

Mr. Soje, a Grade Level 16 Officer in the Kogi State Teaching Service Commission, was being owed 11 months’ salary arrears as at the time he took his life.

He hailed from Ogori town in Ogori -Magongo Local Government area of the state.

He had before killing himself travelled to Abuja and left a suicide note for the wife who also works in one of the federal ministries. “Psalm 121:3 God will not suffer your foot to be moved: He that keepeth you will not slumber. Amen. You and the three boys, the God Almighty will keep you and prosper you, amen. I love you,”  according to the suicide note.

Confirming the incident, the state police command Public Relations Officer, William Aya, said the dangling body of Mr. Soje was found on a tree behind the barracks at about 5:55 p.m on Oct. 16.

Mr. Aya said the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Area D Division received information about the incident from the military intelligence office in the barracks.

“Police moved to the scene, removed the corpse to the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja.

“Investigation is still ongoing,” Mr. Aya said.

The police spokesman said nothing was found on the man to help trace his address and family.

However, a search party organised by his relations and friends, found his corpse at the morgue of the hospital on Friday, October 20.

Family sources said that Mr. Soje had before the incident been going through a lot of financial difficulties due to non-payment of his salary for 11 months by the Kogi State Government. He was among thousands of civil servants being owed between two and 21 months’ salary arrears by the state government.

As a way out, he was said to have sold his only car and a three-bedroom bungalow he was building at Otokiti area of Lokoja.

The building which was at lintel level was sold by Mr. Soje at a giveaway price of N1.5 million in April to meet urgent family needs, it was gathered.

According to the sources, Mr. Soje’s financial woes became compounded when the wife gave birth to a set of triplets through Caesarian operation in a private hospital in Abuja on October 7.

The deceased remained in the hospital to look after his wife and children until October 13, a day before the naming ceremony when he decided to come back to Lokoja.

On getting to Lokoja, Mr. Soje went straight to his bank to collect the remaining N30,000 in his salary account with one of the commercial banks and thereafter informed the bank in writing about his decision to close the account.

He immediately left Lokoja for the hospital in Abuja where he rejoined his wife and handed over the N30,000 cash to her.

On October 14, Mr. Soje and wife were joined by two pastors and few relatives to perform a brief naming ceremony for the triplets in the hospital.

He later left the hospital on the pretext that he wanted to pick few things from the wife’s apartment in Abuja with a promise to come back quickly.

But Mr. Soje did not return for hours and did not pick any of the many calls made to his telephone line, a development which forced the wife to send somebody to the house to go and ascertain what was happening to him.

The person, on getting to the apartment knocked the door several times but got no response and decided to call his telephone number.

On hearing the telephone ringing out from the apartment, the person was said to have sought the assistance of neighbours to force the door open.

When the door was opened, the people were shocked when they saw Mr. Soje’s telephone handset placed on a suicide note on the centre table in the sitting room while he was nowhere to be found.

When the wife was informed, she quickly contacted some people to begin a search for him in Abuja while relations and friends in Lokoja were also informed of the development.

Efforts made to locate him did not yield fruit until relations decided to visit hospitals in Lokoja. The decision paid off eventually on Friday, October 20, when the corpse of Mr. Soje was found in the morgue of the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja.

A member of the family said the management of the hospital explained to them that Mr. Soje’s corpse was brought in by the police, who found it dangling on a tree.

A member of the family, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the late Mr. Soje as a “very quiet and lovable human being”.

He said some members of the family had been sent to Abuja to break the news to the
wife.

Health / Kogi Residents Doctors Embark On Indefinite Strike For A Record Fourth Time by yaqq: 10:44pm On Oct 18, 2017
Medical activities were on Tuesday suspended at the Kogi State Specialist Hospital (KSSH) on following the industrial action embarked upon by the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) and the Joint Action Committee (JAC).
this is the fourth time residents Doctors/health workers are embarking on strike in this Bello Apc administration in the state. m
The strike, according to a source in the union, became necessary following the failure on the part of the Kogi State Government to pay resident doctors their salaries and arrears.
“It is quite unfortunate that we are experiencing this situation in the health sector today. All our demands to the state governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello have been swept under the carpet.

“Many of our colleagues have not been paid for several months. We find it difficult to come to the hospital and treat patients because we are psychologically and morally down.
“I can no longer fuel my car. I now patronize commercial vehicles while going to work. For how long are we going to continue with this hardship?

“I wont be surprise if our dear governor comes out to categorise us as ‘Political Doctors’ because of this strike just the way he called striking civil servants in the state as Political Civil Servants.

“Our demands are simple. He should pay us our salaries and arrears and see if we wont return to the hospital. Just the other day, a colleague of mine borrowed N100 so that she could come to work. After closing hour, she was looking for who to give her transport fare. Can you imagine the condition doctors have now found themselves in Kogi State?”, the source explained.

Meanwhile, when our correspondent visited the Kogi State Specialist Hospital Lokoja, it was deduced that the hospital was almost deserted.

The usual car park in the hospital premises was almost empty.

In a visit to some of the wards, such as the accident and emergency wards, Male wards, children wards, few patients were spotted as no doctor was on ground to attend to them.
The strike has forced many patients to be transferred to private hospitals within the state capital.

Well.
Someone said only a weakling raises his hand on a woman.

But the truth is;
Only a fool doesn't give a woman the discipline she deserves when it is needed.

That is the only way to love.
Nowadays more men are physically abused and killed by women because of the cliché that women should not be beaten.

Treat a woman with firmness and she'd love you.
Women are like wild horses...totally uncontrollable unless with the application of brute force at intervals.

That's the true secret to happy relationships.

Françoise Sagan once famously said,
“I have loved to the point of madness; That which is called madness, That which to me, is the only sensible way to love.”
