The presidential election is just few months away. The heart of all nigerians is longing to see a responsible and competent leader win in 2023. The winner will be decided by the votes of people and not by rigging this time. The masses are tired of the hardship and insecurity in the country.

Ever since this picture emerged, I have been laughing at the foolishness of Tinubu. This happened in the central mosque with top Northern politicians. Datti knowing that Tinubu's failing health is his big disadvantage, played his game well. Only the discerning minds will understand that Datti would have chosen to greet Tinubu and bow while he (Tinubu) stood up. But in politics you need to understand the art and play it well and obliterate the noisy ant. Capturing a presidential hopeful sitting in a mosque, unable to bend and pray shows the man Tinubu is dangerously sick and should be avoided. Tinubu's mean, soured face showed he understood the trick but it's too late to avert the disaster.

Tinubu's expected loss in Lagos is not surprising because Lagos has many tribes who are not Yoruba resident there. But as polls have shown, Tinubu will likely lose one or two core Yoruba states. Why is it so considering that Mr Tinubu claims to be the leader of Yoruba people after Awolowo?

We even saw how Afenifere rejected him and endorsed Peter Obi, an indication that most sensible Yoruba people do not recognize Tinubu as a Yoruba leader. Some like the former governor of Osun state, Rauf Aregbesola even openly declared that Tinubu doesn't mean well for Yoruba people and that God should pull him down. Is Tinubu's impending defeat at the poll the answer to Aregbesola's prayer?

What is even more shocking is that even Moshood Abiola who never claimed to be a disciple of Awololo had more acceptance than Mr Tinubu. Our correspondents tried to find out why Tinubu's home base rejection is growing.

The reason given by most respondents is that Tinubu is perceived to be extremely corrupt and has been living large from proceeds of corruption. Others like the Afenifere never recognized him as part of the progressives while Tinubu himself inadvertently alienated many Yoruba Christians with his insensitive Muslim-Muslim tickets.

The outcome of Mr Tinubu's dwindling fortune is that his opponents from PDD, Atiku Abubakar and from Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi are making massive inroad with Yoruba voters. It is expected that Peter Obi will win Oyo, Osun and Lagos states, precincts that were hitherto Tinubu's domains.
