Nope. I am a Nigerian who so happens to want the Nigerian web industry/business to be the best it can be, not half baked. |

http://www.crossriverstate.gov.ng/ If this is the case, tis a sad day indeed. Of all the state websites out there, CRS's is the last one on my list that would have ever gone offline, even for 5 minutes. |
Start off using google adsense, or services like that. That should at least give you some revenue, while waiting for actual advertisers. For the actuals, you will need some solid data (traffic, etc) to convince them as to why they should spend money on you, as opposed to the other guy. Good luck! |
I am glad to have been of help. yw. |
2 things: 1) You are yet to tell me how much time elapsed b/w when you pasted the code and you checked your results 2) I have found from experience, that once you copy, there is a "save this account (or words to that effect)" button at the bottom of the page. If you just copy and paste and don't click this button, the account won't get activated. |
It takes about 24 hours for the results to start showing. How much time had elapsed b/w the time you installed it and the time you started checking your results? Also, did you install it exactly how and where you were supposed to? Finally, is there a link to this blog so we can check it out live? |
So, you took a job, without knowing if you could handle the requirements? Better yet, you didn't get the full requirements before taking on the job? At any rate, how would you expect them to manually feed the prices? It would have to be done automatically. That only makes sense. I would imagine that the NSE has provided an API for folks to get and display such information. It might cost you though. If it does, did you figure this into the amount of money you want to charge your client? When all is said and done, I hope and trust you would have learned your lesson(s) for the future. Good luck! |
I am available o, he he. gtalk me or send me email. |
I get "error establishing connection" |
OP: I no go lie. I could help write from scratch, but why? There's too much free code out there to help. Plus, girlz no dey like suffer anyhow. Just google for and implement one of the many jQuery solutions and you will be good to go. To put it in perspective, d time wey u dey use ask me and dey reply, you for don implement liveValidation ![]() |
I use livevalidation for my front end validation. Sure, it may not apply to your format of numbers but nothing stops you from modifying it. |
I believe this can be increased via the php.ini file on your server. Having said that, if you are on a shared server, your host may still not allow more than 2mb. Can't you just take the strain off of your server and use dropbox, or other similar alternatives? |
@databoy: You are right, they are not cheap at all ![]() OP: my gtalk handle is itoronics |
An honest seo specialist will tell you that it will take at least a couple of months for your site to get indexed and ranked, if you are going the organic route. An honest seo specialist will also not employ black hat methods to force the search engines to rank you up there. An honest seo specialist will also tell you that seo is a continuous process and that if you let your site's content go stale, you will start to drop off. Finally, an honest seo specialist will first of all explain how they will take you to the top (their strategy). Good luck in your search. |
Then I think the post's title, "Check out this website" is a little misleading, IMHO |
you don't mind paying? Was it supposed to be free? ![]() anyways, conversion is perhaps more involved than recoding from scratch as everything will need to have a reference point and all the pixel measurements will then need to be recalculated with percentages. At any rate, as the other poster has said, you may contact our resident responsive specialist, the one and only GraphicPlus ![]() |
Get rid of the fixed position of the "contact us" module - depending on your screen resolution and where you scroll to, it ends up blocking content and girlz no get time to dey scroll left and right to read stuff. I jus wan go d site for wetin dey dia - content...Not to praise d coder's effizy |
The actual red "pins" were most likely implemented via the Google Maps API, using coordinates of the respective cities. If you study that API well, you will learn how to do even cooler stuff like causing the white "bubble" to show, on hover of the red pin, showing the data you please about the particular location ![]() |
^^^ As of yesterday, what I saw was even worse. At any rate, it looks like the (free) template customization has been completed as all non- "daily independent newspaper" references have been corrected. |
a url, where we can see your code in action, would be very helpful here |
1) Header image now reads, "advance newspaper" 2) The theme message is displaying prominently at the top 3) Site now seems crowded, compared to the past, making news hard to read (at least to me) 4) Old news articles are now showing up on the site The above are just a start... |
http://www.dailyindependentnig.com At least once a year, you do something that makes me swear never to visit your site again. Then after 6 months, I have a change of heart and visit again. 3 months after that, you give me a reason to regret my change in position and the cycle continues. Today, you have done it again: http://www.dailyindependentnig.com/ Na wa o! |
Note to organizers (and I say this as these have not been explicitly mentioned here): From 2014 moving forward, include accessibility and SEO as part of the criteria. |
OP you can leave the text in there. Just get rid of the scroll. |
You could do better in the footer area and you need to get rid of the scrolling marquee in the header (an eye distraction)... |
http://www.services.gov.ng/ - No, I didn't do it...but wish I did ![]() Finally, someone puts up a solid site for the FG. It's totally responsive too. Kudos to the developers!! |
^^^ Goveernment doesn't and shouldn't get into anything for the purpose of making money. Though I am not advocating that government waste money, their job is to provide a service. If the service is essential (and education is more than essential), the site should be up for the purpose of the general public, for as long as the ministry is in existence. |
OP: You can send an email to yawatide@yahoo.com and we go from there. I am rarely on any chat programs. |
Except for coming up with multiple templates, all your other approaches are in order. Remember, time is money. I show people one template after asking the relevant questions (what sites do you like? is there a particular color scheme you like? etc). Then I ask them to make corrections to what i send them. |
I don't know when the site was first pulled up, but considering how cheap hosting can be (what? 2 - 3% of what you will charge? Technically, such sites should be hosted on independent, dedicated servers for this very reason, but that's a story for another day), I would at least pay for hosting for the duration of the current presidency, at the time I am given the job. |
