He didn't want to die . He should have escaped when he had the chance. All he'd get now is the RIP and sympathies that he isn't even aware of. They Should just negotiate and stop the war already as more innocent souls will still be lost if not stopped now.

The annoying part is it is business as usual in Russia. War is indeed a bad thing especially when the parties involved are poles apart.
