Health / Why Women Should Not Wear Panties To Bed At Night – Microbiologist by Yelakem737(f): 2:18pm On Apr 08, 2019
A clinical microbiologist, Tony Mbume, has advised females to avoid wearing panties to bed at night in order to keep the vagina area dry throughout the night.

Mbume gave this advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city, on Sunday.Mbume, who works with CIAGIN medical laboratory, Oke-Afa, Isolo, also urged women to stop wearing tight jeans, synthetic panties and leggings, to prevent vaginal infections.

The clinical microbiologist said most Nigerian females wear synthetic pants, leggings and tight jeans in the name of fashion, without considering the health implications.
He also urged women to stop wearing tight jeans, synthetic panties and leggings, to prevent vaginal infections.According to him, synthetic underwear causes the vagina to ‘overheat’, which could disrupt its ecosystem.
Mbume said that underwear made of latex, nylon or polyester and synthetic materials could trap moisture and warmth, making the vagina vulnerable to infections.“Synthetic panties can cause the vagina area to overheat and this can sometimes cause burning sores, itching or irritate the sensitive skin, as well as causing blisters,” said the microbiologist.

“The friction caused by walking in tight pants and jeans can irritate the skin, resulting in the formation of blisters.’’He said vaginal burning and itching are usually accompanied by discharge and bad odour.
The microbiologist further said that such infections could be dangerous if left untreated, as it might lead to infertility due to damage of the reproductive organs. Mbume, however, recommended cotton underwear, to ventilate the vagina and eliminate infections, adding that wearing cotton underwear helps to keep the vagina free of excessive moisture and allows the area to breathe.“Use cotton menstrual pads too.

Cotton absorbs excess moisture and removes buildup heat from the area. It is the only material that can become stronger when wet and is easily sterilised after use,” Mbume said.“Avoid sleeping with pants at night, to keep the vagina area dry throughout the night.’’The microbiologist said that the vagina should be protected from any form of diseases.

Sports / Barca Names Two Ways In Which Man United Could Overcome Barcelona by Yelakem737(f): 12:17pm On Apr 08, 2019
Sergio Busquets has named two ways in which Manchester United can overcome Barcelona.

Barca are favourites for the Champions League quarter-final tie and third-favourites to win the competition overall, behind Manchester City and Juventus.

The reigning and soon to be defending La Liga champions have been knocked out at the quarter-final stage in each of the last three seasons, and will be wary of a United side that beat PSG in sensational fashion in the last 16.

Busquets believes that United – soon to be drifting into mid-table obscurity – could “take advantage” of Barca at set-pieces or counter-attacks.“It’s not the most difficult path but nor is it the easiest,” he told The Guardian.

“If you’re telling me we can get to the final, tell me where to sign.“United are better under Solskjaer.

They don’t mind letting you have the ball. Their opponents might be better technically but, as we saw with PSG, they counter-attack well and they’re good at set-pieces.

“If you make any mistakes, they’ll take advantage.”Will they beg for mercy like Wayne Rooney though?

Celebrities / FG Provides Free Internet For Nigerians by Yelakem737(f): 2:23pm On Apr 05, 2019
The federal government of Nigeria is working on ensuring that Nigerians have free access to the internet in public places that the Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu made this known during a one-day stakeholders workshop in Abuja on the role of the Public Internet Access for Economic Development.

“We are trying to ensure the vision of free Wi-Fi all over, particularly in public spaces, at the airport, schools and all that,” the communications minister said on Tuesday.Shittu said the free service would be available not just for the privileged but for all Nigerians in the nooks and crannies of the country.

The minister also called for more support for the project, stressing that the government alone cannot handle the project. He urged relevant stakeholders to invest especially in the financial success of the project“The Federal Ministry of Communication will ensure the privacy of beneficiaries of the free internet services is protected,

” he said.Mr. Shittu went on to list some of the challenges faced by the government concerning the provision of free internet access as high cost of access, low broadband penetration, poor internet infrastructure, and poor enabling environment.He furthered that;

“The solutions to these challenges are beyond government’s intervention,” he said.“In order to bridge the existing digital divide and encourage more Nigerians to participate in the global digital economy, private organisations and international partners are encouraged to support the government in different strategic ways.

“One of the models being adopted recently is the provision of free internet access by Public Internet Access Providers (PIAPs) in strategic locations to help more Nigerians connect to the internet in pursuit of social and developmental objectives for a return on investment (ROI) through advertisement or other means.

“This is expected to fuel some changes especially in creating jobs and help local SMEs compete with global brands.”

Politics / Obasanjo Breaks Silence On Receiving Salary From NOUN by Yelakem737(f): 9:18pm On Mar 20, 2019
Former Nigeria’s President, Olusegun Obasanjo, has denied a claim by the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) that it pays him an annual allowance for his role as a facilitator of the university.

Naija News had reported that the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Abdalla Adamu while speaking on Obasanjo’s earnings, stated that the former President earns N40,000 annually as a supervisor of NOUN in Abeokuta Study Centre in Ogun State.Adamu while addressing journalists, revealed that Obasanjo who holds PhD in Christian Theology has two students in Theological Studies attached to him.His words: “Obasanjo has two students attached to him in Theological Studies.

We gave him an office in Abeokuta and the salary is N40,000 a year as a facilitator.”“The former President did his fieldwork in Borno State during the heat of the insurgency, going to collect and analyse data.“We have another big fish that we have appointed as a facilitator and we will announce him when we have given him an appointment letter,” he had said.Responding in a statement by his media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, Obasanjo denied Adamu’s claim, saying he renders service to the university free of charge. The former President called on Adamu to retract the statement and offer him a public apology.Obasanjo said:
“the very clear quotation of the Vice-Chancellor made it necessary for him to make the clarification and to set the records straight on his engagement with the university.“Ordinarily, this will have been unnecessary exercise, if it has been the usual shenanigans of the media to sell their newspapers. But, the very clear quotation of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Abdalla Adamu, on the headline made this clarification imperative and to set the records straight on His Excellency’s engagement with the University,” the statement added.“In putting the records in right perspective, His Excellency wishes to draw the attention of the Vice-Chancellor to his letter dated 12 April 2018, which was written to the University Registrar, Mr. Felix Edoka, when the Council offered him a Part-Time appointment as an Instructional/Tutorial Facilitator and Project Supervisor in the Faculty of Arts at the Abeokuta Study Centre”.
The former president recalled that, specifically in paragraph 3 of the letter, he wrote: “I will gladly undertake any of the functions mentioned in paragraph two of your letter pro bono and I hope that the functions will be flexible enough to accommodate my rather tight schedule.”Obasanjo said he had not received a dime either as salaries or otherwise from the university. The former Nigerian leader stated in his letter that his appointment was received with “pleasure and duty to give back to others out of what God and NOUN have given me.
”“The publication, which has generated mixed reactions from the general public and calls from far and near on the elder statesman expressing concern, is, to say the least, embarrassing, uncharitable, mischievous and in bad taste, with immediate demand for a retraction and apology from the Office of the Vice-Chancellor,” he added.

Politics / Nigeria, 66 Others Join China Belt And Road Initiative by Yelakem737(f): 12:20pm On Mar 05, 2019
Nigeria and 66 other countries have officially joined China‘s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), it confirmed today.BRI is considered as the most ambitious infrastructure investment effort in history through which China aims to boost trade and connectivity on a trans-continental scale. The Chinese Government introduced the initiative in 2013 in order to strengthen infrastructure, trade, and investment links between China and participating countries. It is poised not only to reshape global trade but also fill large and long-standing infrastructure gaps in partner countries and raise the living standards for more than half of the world’s population. In 2018 alone, 67 countries signed cooperation documents with China on BRI, bringing the number of participants to 152, including international organizations, Zhang Yesui, a spokesperson for the annual session of China’s national legislature told journalists at a press conference in Beijing, China’s capital.Nigeria signed the document last September at a bilateral meeting between Presidents Muhammadu Buhari and Xi Jinping, held on the backdrop of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Beijing.Yesui said though Belt and Road is an initiative of the Chinese government, all decisions regarding its projects are made jointly by the participating countries.“China will never impose its will on others,” he said. The BRI is meant to enhance connectivity, and with that create more opportunities for China and world economic growth, he added. The second Belt and Road for International Cooperation is billed to held in Beijing in April. Yesui expressed optimism that participating countries would reach greater consensus.

Politics / We Are Not Going On Strike, Says ASUU President by Yelakem737(f): 12:09pm On Mar 05, 2019
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said it has no plans of going on strike anytime soon.Following a tweet by a handle, @Official_ASUU, which stated otherwise, AASUI said it does not have an official Twitter handle. The user had tweeted, “Thinking of going on another three months strike action..” which received a lot of backlash, as the Nigeria Twitter community perceived the handle as the official Twitter handle of the union. The union’s president, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, told Punch in an interview that the union denounced the handle and was set to take further action against those operating the account.“First, ASUU does not have an official Twitter handle. Those who are operating that handle are fraudsters. So, we are issuing a statement today to denounce that handle, and that is to enable us to take further action against those operating that account. Arising from that, it means that nobody should take seriously anything posted from that account.”On the possibility that ASUU could resume the strike, Ogunyemi said, such is not the case.“We are engaging the government on how to implement the Memorandum of Action. We are working with the government to activate the MOA, to make sure that all the provisions of the MOA are met, within the timeframe. He further called on the students not to fear because our members are compassionate and so are not looking at immediate action, instead they are engaging the government on the MOA. And at this moment some of our members are making sacrifices. Some have lost their annual leave and some that are supposed to go on sabbatical have elected to stay behind to cover lost ground.”

Romance / The Dangers Of Dating Married Women by Yelakem737(f): 5:43pm On Feb 23, 2019
Dating married women can have severe consequences. I am about to discuss with you the impact of such an act. A woman stepping out on her husband is happening more often today than it did 30 years ago; but just because it is happening more often doesn’t mean you should join the trend. In the United States 44% of married men have an extramarital affair and 32% of married women follow along. Looking at those numbers it’s no mystery why roughly 50% of marriages in the U.S. fail. Also from the start of the marriage the odds are stacked against it lasting for the long term. Add adultery to those odds and you are almost guaranteed failure.Affairs happen out of purely selfish desires, and not having the ability to look past the instant gratification. If you are one of those men that are thinking of dating married women then you are asking for trouble that you can’t even comprehend. The first problem you will run into when trying to date a married woman is the fact that she is married meaning one of you will be single while the other is with her husband, and it will stay that way throughout the affair, but she will have to go home to her husband. That may be fine at the beginning, but what happens when you start to have feelings for her! This leads into the next problem. You’re not a couple! Go ahead and get that out of your head. Your relationship can only go one of two places, she divorces him for you, or the affairs ends with her husband finding out or some other way. Either option is bad for you; because once she leaves him for you, how long do you think it will be before she is stepping out on you? The other option has some many possible scary outcomes that’s it’s hard to think about. Just think what you would like to do the guy you caught sleeping with your wife! It’s fair to say you he wouldn’t want to have a beer with you.The point is there are plenty of fish in the sea, and dating married woman is simply asking for trouble! Relationships based on lies never work, if you want to know the secrets to building a real relationship you should visit

Politics / Buhari: No Plan To Remove INEC Chairman Yakubu by Yelakem737(f): 11:30am On Feb 18, 2019
There is no plan to remove Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Chairman Mahmood Yakubu over the abrupt postponement of the general elections, the Presidency said yesterday.

A leading politician has alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari was planning to give Yakubu the push over last Saturday’s postponement of the elections.

“It is not true,” a Presidency source said.

The denial came amid claims that Prof. Yakubu has taken charge of logistics for the elections.

Besides, The Nation learnt,  the electoral agency is to release details of the state-by-state collection of Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs).

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, debunked the reports that Yakubu was to be removed.

Shehu said: “Those reports are utterly baseless and false. There is nothing like that.

“Whoever is saying the President is removing INEC chairman is just displaying his illiteracy. Let him go and read the constitution.

“You need a resolution by two-thirds majority of the Senate for any such action.”

The clarification by the Presidency came against the backdrop of the agitation by National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, and the alarm raised by the amorphous Coalition of United  Political Parties( CUPP) that President Muhammadu Buhari was plotting to remove the INEC chairman.”

Another government source, who spoke in confidence, said: “What PDP National Chairman Secondus wanted was more of electoral anarchy, which this Buhari administration will not oblige him. Resignation or removal of INEC chairman is never contemplated by the President.

“Buhari’s administration  will not change the rule in the middle of the game. Asking INEC chairman to quit will cause rumpus within INEC management , disrupt all preparations for the poll and create unrest nationwide.

“The opposition has a hidden agenda, which this government will not buy into. We will also not play into their hands. The INEC chairman will remain in charge of the electoral agency.”

Secondus said the “shoddy” arrangement for the elections by INEC was “a deliberate agenda” of President Buhari to cling on to power even when it’s obvious to him that Nigerians want him out.

Secondus called on Yakubu to resign immediately.

The PDP leader  warned that the party will not accept anything short of a well organised electoral process devoid of manipulation,   harassment and intimidation of voters and the opposition, particularly members of the PDP.

Having failed in all their nefarious options to enable them cling on to power, the APC and the INEC came up with the idea of shifting  elections, an action that is dangerous to our democracy and unacceptable, Secondus said.

Sections 157 and 158 of the 1999 Constitution prescribe conditions for the removal of the INEC chairman and National Commissioners as well as board members of nine other agencies.

Section 157 says: “(1) Subject to the provisions of subsection (3) of this section, a person holding any of the offices to which this section applies may only be removed from that office by the President acting on an address supported by two-thirds majority of the Senate praying that he be so removed for inability to discharge the functions of the office (whether arising from infirmity of mind or body or any other cause) or for misconduct.

“(2) This section applies to the offices of the Chairman and members of the Code of Conduct Bureau, the Federal Civil Service Commission, the Independent National Electoral Commission, the National Judicial Council, the Federal Judicial Service Commission, the Federal Character Commission, the Nigeria Police Council, the National Population Commission, the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission and the Police Service Commission.

“(3) All members of the National Population Commission shall cease to be members if the President declares a National Census Report as unreliable and the report is rejected in accordance with Section 213 of this Constitution.”

Section 158 (1) says: “In exercising its power to make appointments or to exercise disciplinary control over persons, the Code of Conduct Bureau, the National Judicial Council, the Federal Civil Service Commission, the Federal Judicial Service Commission, the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission, the Federal Character Commission, and the Independent National Electoral Commission shall not be subject to the direction or control of any other authority or person.”

A source, who spoke in confidence, told The Nation that “the INEC chairman had told his team of his plan to supervise the logistics for the elections”. He said from Monday, he will shift base to the airport to take stock and monitor the airlift of sensitive materials to all the states,” The source said, adding:

“He has vowed not to leave any stone unturned. The latest plan is to ensure that all the 36 states and the FCT are ready for the first phase of the elections on or before Thursday. We want everything set in 8,809 Registration Areas, Wards and in 119, 973 Polling Units and 57,023 Voting Points nationwide so that accreditation can take off simultaneously on Saturday.

“If the Central Bank of Nigeria or the Nigerian Air Force cannot cope with the airlift of materials, INEC has floated a Plan B to engage chartered aircraft. No stone will be left unturned.”

Meanwhile, the electoral commission may release the statistics on collection of Permanent Voters’ Cards on state by state basis during the week.

A National Commissioner said: “We will be as transparent as possible. During the week, we will release the statistics of PVCs’ collection per state. Also, each Resident Electoral Commissioner ( REC) will be mandated to make the breakdown of the PVCs available to the public on local government basis.

“While it is true that over 84million eligible  voters registered, not all of them collected their PVCs. We want to give account of what was collected before the poll.”

The CUPP on Saturday raised the alarm over an alleged plan by the President to suspend the INEC chair.

It alleged that President Buhari was planning to replace Yakubu with Amina Zakari as Acting Chairman under the guise of INEC’s inability to conduct the presidential and National Assembly elections.

According to CUPP, Buhari wanted to sack the INEC chair  for refusing to conduct staggered election.

In a statement by its National spokesperson, Ikenga Ugochinyere, the CUPP alleged that the Buhari-led APC sabotaged INEC distribution of materials and turned back to condemn the electoral umpire.

The coalition warned that the move to sack INEC chairman will throw Nigeria into full electoral and constitutional crisis.

The statement reads: “The Coalition of United Political Parties is alerting the world of plan and decision by President Muhammadu Buhari to announce the suspension of the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu, from office.

“The President has also pencilled down Amina Zakari for appointment as the Acting Chairman citing her experience as the oldest and most experienced National Commissioner of the Commission.

“The President is planning to use the excuse of inability to hold election today (Saturday) as a reason for the imminent suspension.

“Feigning ignorance of the real reasons behind the shift, the President in his earlier statement did not have just a word for the shameful and despicable actions of security forces and the central Bank staff who in obedience to Presidency directives deliberately sabotaged the distribution of sensitive materials in selected states.

“We are aware that his hurried return to Abuja today (Saturday) from his home state, Katsina is to sack the INEC boss. But this should be resisted by all well-meaning Nigerians and the international community.

“The sin of the INEC chairman is that he refused to conduct staggered elections that will allow the President and his men to manipulate the process.

“The Presidency had mounted pressure on the Commission to conduct election today (Saturday) in states where there were no issues and postpone only the states with materials distribution issues. The INEC Chairman insisted on conducting the election at the same time, hence warranting the postponement of the entire election.

“We hereby warn President Buhari that the position of the INEC chairman is independent, hence, he cannot be removed from office via suspension. The 1999 Constitution in Section 157(1) states that the Chairman and members of the Commission may only be removed by the President acting on an address supported by two-thirds majority of the Senate that the person be removed for inability to discharge the functions of the office (whether arising from infirmity of mind or body or any other cause) or for misconduct.”

“This is to inform all distinguished senators and honourable members that resumption of plenary session earlier scheduled for Tuesday Feb. 19 has been postpones to Tuesday, Feb. 26 due to the postponement of the national elections.

“All distinguished senators and honourable members are expected to resume plenary session by 10 a.m. on Feb. 26 please,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Senate had on January 24, adjourned plenary till February 19, to enable preparations for the February 16 presidential and National Assembly elections.

NAN further reports that the Senate did not consider the 2019 Appropriation Bill before it proceeded on the break.
It, however, passed the Minimum Wage Bill through first and second reading.

Politics / JUST IN: Ohanaeze Reacts To Election Postponement, Reveals What Igbos Should Do? by Yelakem737(f): 10:27am On Feb 16, 2019
The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohaneze Ndigbo has described the postponement of the Feb. 16 presidential and National Assembly elections as a `rude shock’.

The organisation, however, said that it would not draw conclusions on the matter yet until after the stakeholders meeting slated by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to clarify the circumstances.

The Assistant National Publicity Secretary of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Mr Chuks Ibegbu disclosed this on Saturday in Enugu while reacting to the shift in the dates of the general elections.

The electoral body arising from a meeting of its national commissioners early hours of Saturday announced a shift in the dates of the general elections.

The presidential and NASS elections that were scheduled to hold on Feb. 16 were shifted to Feb. 23 while the governorship and state houses of assembly elections that were slated for March 3 were rescheduled to March 9.

The INEC in its preliminary reports cited logistical challenges as the major reason for the shift in dates.

Ibegbu said that such uncertainty in the implementation of plans was characteristic of human nature.

“Human activities are filled with uncertainties. Therefore, we will not pre-empt INEC until they come out to give us the full details of why the elections were shifted,” he said.

Ibegbu however, said that it was regrettable that the elections did not go on as planned considering the fact that the electoral body had told Nigerians of its readiness for the polls.

Meanwhile, the President of Civil Rights Realisation and Advancement Network, Mr Olu Omotayo has said that the sudden postponement was not good for the image of the country.

Omotayo said that much funds and preparations by Nigerians may have gone into the presidential and NASS polls only for the INEC to call it off at the last minute.

He said that many Nigerians including election observers had travelled far and near in readiness for the exercise only to wake up with the shocking news.

“The postponement of the elections shows that INEC was not even ready in the first place. This is good not for the image of the country,” he said.

Omotayo appealed to the electoral body to put its house in order to ensure a smooth exercise in the new dates as announced.

Celebrities / Money Matters With Nimi: 10 Money Tips For Couples This Valentine’s Seasons by Yelakem737(f): 10:18pm On Feb 10, 2019
smoothen out any difficulties; time usually tells a different story and money is often at the root cause of friction. One of the things that will determine your success as a couple is the way you handle your finances. Here are ten tips to help your money relationship along.

Talk about money
You would do well to consider having the money conversation fairly early and certainly once your relationship appears to be leading to a joint future. Discussing money might not be romantic but try to broach the subject before committing. Money can be a very emotive topic; that’s why people tend to prefer to avoid it. Ignoring it, leads to both parties making assumptions about roles and responsibilities. Addressing money issues when there is no immediate pressure to make decisions should make things easier; the earlier the better.

Your money personality
Our attitudes to money have a lot to do with our backgrounds, our parent’s money behaviour, childhood experiences etc. It is quite common for couples to have different attitudes towards money. If one is a big spender whilst the other is a frugal saver, for example this can cause conflict, if each party is not considerate of their partners wants and needs. One might be prepared to stake even the family home for the prospect of “that” deal, whilst the other prefers to build slowly and steadily over decades.

You do not need to have identical views on money to be able to build a successful future together, but if you have some understanding of how your partner views money, you can adjust, adapt, accommodate or resolve the money issues. Financial compatibility encompasses attitudes to setting goals, budgeting, borrowing, spending habits, saving and investing.

Look out for tell tale signs
Action speaks louder than words; there will be some traits that you can deduce just from your partner’s lifestyle. When someone is a really big spender, and lives way above their means, without the income or investments to back it up, you ought to be concerned. Does he or she spend without any thought for the future or about the consequences of their spending decisions?

Is your partner in debt?
Debt in itself is not the problem; it is about what they have borrowed for and if they owe and dodge friends, family and everyone else. Debt in marriage affects your partner, this is why couples should find ways to manage their debt together and work towards being debt free.

Envision the future
There is so much to talk about. Talking about money too early might make your significant other nervous that you may be a “gold-digger,” but once you get a sense that your relationship is going somewhere, here are some ideas for the money conversation:

What are your career goals and aspirations?
How much do you earn?
Do you have any savings?
Are you in debt? How much?
Where do you wish to live?
What financial commitments do you have to parents and / or siblings?
Do you have insurance to protect your assets, health and life?
How many children would you like to have?
What sort of education would you like for your children?
Will you both work or live on one person’s income?
Will one partner hold a corporate job whilst the other is in business?
Will you both be in business?
Will one person pay all the bills or will you share in proportion to your income?
How do you envision your retirement?
Too many questions? Of course plans will change, but it does help to have discussed things so that when the time comes you are better prepared. Planning ahead brings you closer to achieving your goals, and even better, it brings you closer as a couple.

Set individual and joint goals
When a couple comes together as a team to consider joint short, medium and long term goals, apart from their individual goals, there is a powerful avenue for bonding as they share hopes and dreams, write them down, and work together to achieve them. Don’t try to tackle too many at once; just focus on say the two or three that are most important at this stage of your lives; this makes it easier to achieve them.

If you are just starting out together, this may include saving towards your wedding unless your parents are willing and able to foot the bill, renting your first home, or buying a car. If you are already married with a young family, goals tend to be saving for your children’s education, buying property etc.

Build in some fun
Successful financial management was never meant to smack of drudgery and tedium. Be intentional about building fun into your plans, such as a weekly or monthly date night or periodic vacations. Avoid allowing existing debt or other financial problems getting in the way of quality time; it doesn’t have to be anything extravagant; a cozy meal, a picnic at the beach, or a movie night out are always lovely experiences.

Joint accounts, separate accounts or a combination?
When it comes to combining finances, there is no one size fits all; some couples merge their finances, whilst others prefer to keep their finances separate. You don’t have to combine finances immediately. Take some time to learn about each other’s spending habits. With a joint account, if both of you are working there should be some agreement about how each will contribute to the kitty and how money will be managed. It is rare to have a sole breadwinner these days with the lofty goals you have for your family’s future.

Even the best system is not always appropriate for every circumstance, so plan to modify your system as your relationship and financial situation evolves and find an arrangement that works best for both of you.

Your children’s education
Home ownership and educating children tend to be the largest and most prolonged expenses you will have. Remember that the most expensive or most “fashionable” school that “everyone else’s” child goes to, is not necessarily the best one for your child; an important part comes from your own interaction with them at home. Don’t go broke over your children’s education and jeopardize your financial security. Identify a school that you can afford, and that gives a sound basic education with committed teachers and standards. Leading insurance companies offer excellent Educational Savings Plans that are worth considering.

To do list
Newly weds and young families have some important to dos. There is a need to review and update a variety of documents. This may include emergency contacts, next of kin forms, health insurance, wills, retirement plan beneficiaries, life insurance, investment accounts etc.

Ssshh…Money Secrets?
Communication, openness and transparency are important ingredients for successful relationships. Money secrets can derail a couple’s goals and indeed threaten the marriage itself. In reality, however, it is not always possible in every marriage to achieve the transparency and cooperation that you desire, but ideally this is what couples should strive for.

Your financial life will be a life-long journey. If it is approached with a spirit of sharing and support, you have a better chance at a fulfilled life in partnership. Considering money matters together provides a great opportunity not only for strengthening the relationship but also for fulfilling and celebrating mutual goals with a sense of direction and purpose.

Celebrities / How To Have A Fabulous Valentine Without Spending Money by Yelakem737(f): 9:17pm On Feb 10, 2019
Do you want to have a spectacular Valentine’s Day celebration without spending your money? Read on to find out how to make that possible

Win a prize
This is a season of love and many people embrace the idea of giving gifts out. This happens via social media accounts or is advertised in the media. Whatever form these giveaways come in, you should follow in this trend and win something you can give to your loved one as a gift. As a man, you may win beauty products or accessories for your lady and present it to her as though you bought it. She’ll never know. Also, ladies can win watches or perfumes for their men and gift them in the same manner. This will not only save you a fortune, it will also save you the hassle of shopping for the perfect gift.

Enter all-expense paid competitions

Many companies, especially new ones, often offer all-expense paid competitions around this period as a means of getting more clients and creating awareness for their brand. It is a great idea to seize the opportunity and enter as many of these competitions as you can find. Surely, you may win one which includes an extra invite. Why not give your loved one a dream Valentine’s Day with such a romantic adventure.

Go for events

Many people have events such as birthdays, weddings and anniversaries on this day. If you have been invited, don’t ditch the invite. Take your loved one on the love theme of such an event and enjoy the mood and food it provides. Chances are that the host will create an atmosphere of love and romance for their event. You can eat and bask in the lovely ambience without spending a dime. Unless, of course, you decide to buy them a gift; but that shouldn’t be too expensive.

Use your coupons

If you subscribe to magazines, chances are that there are coupon cut-outs in them. Gather as many coupons as you can get from your stock of magazines and newsletters and use them to purchase something nice for your loved one. It could be a spa or massage pass, free lunch or dinner at a fancy restaurant or a nice tangible gift. Whatever you get, be assured that your money doesn’t have to be spent to have a great Valentine’s Day.

Enter date competitions

Restaurants usually organise love-themed lunches or dinners as part of their civic responsibility and they may choose to seize this day. If you happen to stumble on one that has freebies of lunch or dinner, grab the chance and go for it. Find out whatever is required to get you in and do it. You could need to enter a photo contest with your partner or even a quiz or survey. Your loved one will thank you and so will your pocket.

Have a BYOB party

There may be other couples on this day who don’t have anything planned. Find out from your friends what they are spending their day on and if they don’t have plans, invite them to your house for a Valentine’s Day party. The way to save money is by having them bring their own food and drinks. This way, there is more than enough to go round, so you don’t have to spend your money in any capacity. You will also be using your house to host them, so you won’t be spending any extra funds for space.

Education / Why JAMB May Not Extend Registration – Board Chairman by Yelakem737(f): 4:18pm On Feb 09, 2019
The Governing Board Chairman, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Dr Emmanuel Ndukwe has revealed that the examination body may not extend the registration for prospective candidates willing to write the 2019 examination.

Ndukwe made the disclosure after conducting unscheduled visits to selected JAMB accredited Computer Based Test (CBT) Centres in Lagos.

According to the JAMB Governing Board Chairman, from his observations, the registration of the prospective candidates have so far been seamless and with little or no reported cases of hiccups that may necessitate postponement of the registration period.

“I am indeed impressed with what I have been able to see regarding registration of candidates for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). It is seamless and we are happy. What I have seen today has confirm that Prof. Oloyede and his technical team were very right to ban cyber cafes.

“I have interacted with the candidates; they are all happy and satisfied. I must express the satisfaction of the board. How it was last year is not how it is this year, and it will be better next year,” Ndukwe said.

Responding to a question on a possible postponement, the Governing Board Chairman said, ” I don’t foresee an extension. We have to stick to the date we have given to the public. If we start thinking about extension, it doesn’t portray our seriousness. In some of the places we visited, they had many systems but few candidates. Let the candidates out there be mindful of the examination dates. I don’t foresee any extension of dates.”

At the Ha-Shem Academy centre, Iwaya, Lagos, Centre Manager, Marie Akpenyi explained that there has not been any serious challenge with the registration process. She said the prospective candidates have been cooperative on supplying required information. She also explained that the prospective candidates have not been unnecessarily charged.

“Having registered and obtained their pins in banks, we collect the N700 administrative fees. They are expected to have paid the examination fees and bank charge is N4000,” Akpenyi said.

The monitoring team later proceeded to CBT centres at the FCE Technical Akoka and the Electronic Test Centre (eTC), Anthony, Lagos.

Romance / “you Just Have To Live Your Life And Not Pay Attention To It” – Kendall Jenner by Yelakem737(f): 8:40am On Feb 07, 2019
“You just have to live your life and not pay attention to it” – Kendall Jenner on reading Mean Things Online

Model and reality TV star Kendall Jenner is on the cover of Allure magazine’s March 2019 issue.

The 23-year-old model spoke to the magazine about some of her beauty secrets, dealing with acne and also dealing with mean things said about her online.

Read excerpts below.

On the hate she received over her acne at the Golden Globes: “I mean, it’s something that I look at myself in the mirror every day and see. Like, I don’t want it there, but you have to deal with what you have right in front of you, and I had to deal with it, and it was probably a once in a lifetime thing for me to go to the Golden Globes (in 2018). I don’t know if I’ll ever go again, ’cause that’s not usually my event to go to, you know? And so I went and I was super excited about it, and I’m not gonna let something so little (and big) as acne stop me. I was feeling good about myself, and then when people say mean things I’m like, “I know I have a zit. I know I’m breaking out. You guys don’t have to keep pointing it out. I obviously see that, but let me live.”

On reading mean things online: “I have cried endlessly for days because of things people have said to me, and I’ve had to become stronger through it. I mean, don’t get me wrong: I am not superhuman. I definitely feel, and the things people say online are very hurtful. You also just have to live your life and not pay attention to it. I think it can get pretty unhealthy if you really are deep in it and paying attention to it all the time. I think that that’s what can really mess you up.”

On which sister has the best skincare routine: “I honestly might need to take credit for this one, only because they haven’t really struggled with breakouts. Khloe did a little bit when she was really young, and then Rob a bit when he was really young but he’s not my sister (laughs). They all have beautiful skin. So I will talk myself up and say that I might be the [skin-care] master in the family.”

“It’s wrong to put anyone under this level of emotional trauma” – Meghan Markle’s BFFs Break their Silence in People Magazine about Several Rumors

Since announcing their engagement, Prince Harry‘s relationship with former actress and American TV star Meghan Markle has had its share of scrutiny in the media.

Meghan Markle has also been plagued with a number of rumors about her – from her father being in the media constantly to stories about her staff.

In a new issue of People Magazine, five of Meghan Markle’s best friends are breaking their silence on the stories that have been told about the Duchess. The friends spoke anonymously, in a bid to clear the air about some things that have spread about her personality and her relationship with her family.

See some of the excerpts from the interview below.

A friend on the things that have been said about Meghan: Meg has silently sat back and endured the lies and untruths…we worry about what this is doing to her and the baby…It’s wrong to put anyone under this level of emotional trauma, let alone when they’re pregnant.

A friend on how Meghan hasn’t changed one bit since becoming a Duchess: We’ve all been to their cottage. It’s small and she’s made it cozy, but the perception of their lifestyle and reality are two different things. Meg cooks for herself and Harry every single day.

A friend on how Meghan hasn’t changed one bit since becoming a Duchess: We had a couple of days together recently. Her husband was out of town on work. In the room she made up for me, there was candle lit by the bed, slippers and a robe. We were the only two in the house. It was our time. She made the most lovely meals. She made tea every day. It was raining and muddy outside, so the dogs got all dirty, and she’s wiping them off with towels. How much she loves her animals, how much she loves her friends, how much she loves feeding you, taking care of you — none of that has changed.

A friend on Meghan’s relationship with father Thomas Markle:

A friend on Meghan’s relationship with her half-sister Samantha: They have been made to appear as siblings who had this falling out, and that’s not the truth at all. They were not a part of her life.

A friend on Meghan’s love for children: When you see her at walkabouts when she crouches down to talk to the kids and genuinely has real conversations with people, that’s Meg. That’s how she crouches down with our kids at home. That’s how she plays with them. That’s how she engages with people and how she always has.
