bakila: Dialog with a secessionist who is not official respresentative of the people? Who has being soliciting money to fight Government? Who told a cheering crowd that he is going to bring the President's head to his land etc etc? Even u have contradicted yourself. Cheering crowd yet he represents no one. The truth be told 95% want biafra. Look at the huge crowd that turn up at any eastern state where kanu appears. Let's just stop lying to our selves. This is what the Igbos want. If the FG cannot grant them a referendum then they should negotiate with them. The FG cannot wipe out the entire igbo race. |

The scam artist is banking on political disaffection to pursue a national disturbance of the peace. Call it whatever u like. We Nigerians are good at lying to ourselves so it's nothing new. heendrix: churches now adays wount stop amazing me as well dissapointing me so a lady stole in the church and the best thing to do is disgrace her and hand her over to the police? what the church erected for? to gain money or win souls to christ? only a few sermon of christ love to her and message of salvation and prayers would have brought her to christ n guess what heaven would be happy but that pastor or deacon never thought so nd the church would claim to worship God every Sunday. I shake my head It's really sad... I mean look at this woman. She not some teenager who wants things she can't afford. She most likely has responsibilities. Hungry mouths to feed. She must have done this out of desperation. Instead of them to counsel her and help her. They disgrace her and call Police. What a shame. No mercy. I can only wonder, What would Christ have done? |

Comb their hair ON THEIR OWN! my eldest son is 11. As soon as it's 6 in the evening when the gen comes on he irons his uniform for the next sch day So does your 8yearold daughter. omoelerin1: It is a crime, my friend. Every freedom has a limit and condition. You cannot use your freedom to deny others their own freedom. You have a right to move freely without being molested, but there are movements you can make that may get you arrested by the security agents. Freedom of expression according to the constitution is your right to express yourself politically and religiously and to self determination and to express your opinion. This is where you can criticise and not to insult others. There is no where the constitution mention freedom of speech. It is also law that a person cannot the tried for a crime not known to law. Pls tell me the law that states insulting someone is a crime. |

omoelerin1: It is a crime, if you don't know. Moreover, where can you find freedom of speech in the constitution? Freedom of expression! It is even wider than freedom of speech. It means I can express my thoughts in anyway I wish! If only one say something about me that is false and offensive, the option available to me are CIVIL SUITS! Not criminal! Therefore it is not a crime! One can only sue for damages! |

greatnaija01: well we are yet to verify your character... morals and upbringing. FLOGGING did wonders for many of us.... and would do wonders if applied in FIRST WORLD COUNTRIES.... things like teen killings, drug abuses,LGBT would not see the light of day if it was flogged out of them promptly when they were younger... MY OPINION O. And with all their vices and our "high morals" we are one of the most corrupt and they are a million times better than us. I grew up in a Christian home. Upheld my core Christian values. I am a daughter whos father is very proud of. Flogging a child does nothing to improve their moral values especially when no one is looking it only induces fear of which the child will eventually out grow. If that were to be the case Nigeria would have the most fair and most honest set of people cos we log children at every given opportunity. However the reverse is the case. Our politicians are all products of our society. Meaning 90% of the ordinary Nigerian would act exactly the same way our politicians do if given the chance. FACT! We are all corrupt in this country. Flogging has done nothing to better us. |

abike12: I don't know if it's legal or not but I personally don't support it. Disciplining a child is not just about beating them because you are frustrated or to show seniority, it should be done with intention and communication with the child - you are getting your behind whooped because you did xyz, do you understand why xyz is wrong, do you know if you do xyz you will get your behind whooped again, etc. Then a show of love to reassure the child, that you're not there to hurt them but to make them do better. No teacher gets paid enough to do all this, my child, my responsibility to discipline. Add to the fact that a lot of teachers in Nigeria are frustrated (thank you underpaying government), and it's a recipe for disaster. Your child's cane will be extra because their parents have money. Don't touch my child. If a school feels a child's behavior is unacceptable then expel the child but don't discipline other people's kids. If they can't teach without cane then all of them need to go back to school to learn. There's at least one voice of reason. There is hope! I grew up in Botswana and south Africa. I was NEVER flogged while schooling there. I was better educated. In fact the 4years I spent in Nigerian govt secondary school was a complete waste! I learned NOTHING! I basically went from primary to uni. Based on the good education I received in Botswana. I thank God that even though I'm based in Nigeria now, I can afford to send my kids to good schools were flogging or any sort of physical abuse is strictly prohibited! |

greatnaija01: If you were not FLOGGED, would you be as educated as you are to be able to compose this thread post? Some things you were not flogged for while you were a child are the same things now you are struggling with.... LIFE FLOGS US ALL with invisible CANE strokes. Teachers only do the physical....
If you waste your salary on games n sweets n doing whatever you like, HUNGER and POVERTY becomes the flogging that follows such wasteful spending
If you do not read or upgrade your knowledge about things, then you can never grow in business or in the workplace therefore INSULTS and LOSSES will be the flogging for such person
If you are a liar, cheat and are never satisfied with what you have till you get someone else's own.... HEART BREAKS IN RELATIONSHIPS with many INSULTS and NAME TAGS will be the person's flogging.
LIFE FLOGS US ALL. LIFE IS A TEACHER. I was NEVER flogged before I came to Nigeria! I was well educated. As a matter of fact those that taught us education DO NOT flog their students! |
