One of our trucks only does inter-state works. Yeah IVECO is ok. Buh not as rugged as DAF. And daf spare part is cheaper. U'll see enough in katangua and ladipo.

Well I'll prefer u go for DAF products. Reason is. Buying d spare parts are more cheaper. And also they are very rugged. Bedford products are very ok too. Dey don't overheat @ all compared to other engines.

*hint* always inspect ur drivers, make sure they buy their fuel from an authorised filling station. Majority of drivers even haulage company drivers buy fuel from black marketers @ low price. And often the fuel is always mixed with other products which affects the durability of the trucks on the long run

Well u right. Buh that's why this thread is created. Some tips include travelling @ night, don't be in a hurry to attend to every complain. Apply lil bit of pressure on ur drivers. Above all for u to out fox ur drivers. U need to come down to their level. And try to understand how they reason. And means dey use to dupe you. Most truck drivers only pay soldeir and VIO. And dat at worst suld be 5000.

So let's say u used the truck for 3 years. U'll recoup d original cost btw 2years. And can sell ur truck between 1.1 to 1.5 if properly maintained

So its a win win situation. You have your new truck and profit. And business continues.

The best way to make money in this business is to be your own truck driver. Buh. Its not possible. So what can be done. Some managers follow their driver on trips. Buh hearing from a victim. His driver planned wif some people and dey stole all their fuel while asleep. Yes. They slept together. Attimes the drivers go as far as arranging to get themselves robbed. So for a starter what's the way forward. You can either give it out to an haulage company, or give it out on hire-purchase. Third option is to find a manager who knows a lot about the business to manage for u. Or u manage urself. Among the three. Man management yields d highest profit, followed by hire-purchase, haulage companies though provides security and safety buh before you can recover ur original cost or money spent. Twill take to two years. Now here is the profit. Afta recovering ur real cost. You can sell the truck. This will serve as your profit. While re investing the one you got.

Another secret revealed. Truck drivers who goes long distance mostly buy and sell their fuel. Here is how it works. After purchasing their fuel let's say 50,000. D remaining after their return from trip like maybe 10 to 15 litres are sold to black marketers or their fellow drivers. When the owner or marketer arrives he'll find nothing left in the tank. And will have to refill. #NO Fuel symptoms#. Now how do u overcome dis. For trucks wif 2 big tanks. U can fill up, padlock and keep ur key. Two. Always be around when ur truck arrives to inspect #note# some will sell on d road. #3 follow d truck once on a trip, buy d fuel urslef and confirm the no of fuel they consume and d left over. Let's talk about spare part. One of our truck had radiator issues so had to replace it. Mechanic said 55K. I end up buying it 17K. Wat did I do. Well radiators are of different kinds. Depending on d cell we av 1,2,3,4 cell. Price varies according to d cell. So let's say 814 3 cell. Price is around 27-30. For small truck na 15-18. Go to ladipo. So wat did I do. I told d mechanic to lose d radiator and we went to ladipo together. I told d mechanic not to speak igbo else. Dey will sell u while standing cos am yoruba. Dey said 35K. First rule of haulage business before u buy ur truck. You must locate a haulage company willing to take it from u. And if u managing urself make sure u have a target market or company you want to work with. 2 set aside some capital for maintenance 3. Get a good driver 4. Its nt advisable u buy truck dat as been used be4. If u will ask for no of years such a person as used it for. Check d year of purchase, wat sought of biz they use it for. And lastly why the seller wanna sell it

To answer ur question. Truck haulage business requires u set aside some capital for running aside frm capital for truck procurement. That said. If u can register ur company to companies dat deliver goods short distances. Dis trucks will fetch u goog money. *note* they don't go to long distance like kano. And price is btw 1m and 1.5. Cotonou

Yes they can, all you need to do his register. Some company will require payment. But most company is about links. Once u know the person in charge of distribution its easy to register your truck.

Just spoke wif an haulage company today willing to take 10 tyres container body @ 350 per month. Yes I knw d price is low. Buh come to think of it. Calculate the amount we spend on drivers salary, bribing, truck maintenace, rest of mind and odas. Am not an agent of the company so I won't mention their name. But they maintain ur truck and they also own the driver.

Other companies you can check in includes Guinness, Mouka foam, carton company, companies that deals in fish transportation, may and baker.

In addition. Anytime they are servicing ur truck it is wise you buy the materials urself. Some mechanics will collect 13k from u for oil and they'll buy low quality 8000 naira oil. If u need prices for any spare part to compare and where you can get them. ask on this thread... Thanks

To get a truck is easy. But it is advisable for you to avoid naija trucks. U can either order it from cotonou and also if you have friends in germany its safer. Also some people use the trucks to transport goods and later sell it. The price varies. Depending on the truck size. For the haulage. We av various ones. So once u av ur truck getting an haulage company is a piece of cake

First you need to have your own personal supplier of spare parts that you can call upon for prices.

Secondly, basic servicing of trucks cost between 18 to 20k. And for any part that is damaged try to buy it yourself. When they change any part for u try to keep d old one.

Thirdly, your driver is out there to dupe you. So how do you conquer them. They go as far as damaging some trucks intentionally. First you need to make sure there is no relationship between your truck driver and your mechanic, pay ur drivers on time, try to compensate their honesty.

For those doing one man management. Pls try to register with companies dat sells consumables like VIJU and oda building companies. Especially for 6 tyres and 10 tyres.

It is better to purchase DAF or Mercedez products. Their spare parts are cheaper. More coming later
