Just as I thought. Simple servers will frustrate the hell out of you. Try to do the real thing. Moreover, using SS is a sin because you are cheating.

I still have more. How do I track an ongoing project with that tracking device? I am seriously feeling like I just sent out a $20 dollar invoice when it should have been like 3 times more. I would have gone through the thread for this but this so so urgent, and I got to meetup to expectations on FL. Can't even bid right now, my hand are full and time is of essence. I need to know this ASAP or I will be cheated out of this thing. Please help me.

LOL... Trust me I know that feeling. I am out of the mess, though, and am I glad? Mine was as a result of a proxy server I was using (srsly, awoof de run belle). I am soo done with proxy servers, very frustrating... So, if u r using any proxy server, I will advice that you either stop using them or you try being patient. If it doesn't work today, tomorrow is yet another day. (I can't bliv I am saying this).

Hey guys. Is it just me or is FL website down? Can't seem to connect to the damn thing since yesterday. Is anyone else going through the same problem?

Obviously, the buyer knows you are a green horn.
Obviously, you have accepted the project and have already paid the fees.
Obviously, the buyer doesn't do milestones.
Obviously, you are already under pressure.
Obviously, you cannot back out now.

Go to the project page, locate the invoice tab, click it and create an invoice for the agreed total amount. When you submit the work, and the buyer is satisfied, he will then pay the invoice. But there is NO GUARANTEE that he will pay the invoice. Your only guarantee is to request for a milestone setup BEFORE you accept any project.

Learn to understand the way things work. This is a sole proprietorship, not a joint venture. Do not rely heavily on anyone on this thread or elsewhere. I suggest after this project, invest some quality time in reading ALL the pages here. Believe it or not, virtually every FL issue has already been treated here.

Obviously, if you are wise, you will not repeat this mistake.

This dude is asking that I do the invoice thingy, but how? That was what he said when I asked for us to discuss the payment plan/milestone. He said the payment plan is going to be according to FL standard. What does that even mean? I know I should have asked him all these questions but I felt it's improper and very unprofessional, PLUS, I felt I could count on my homies (you guys) to help me out with this.. I have 24hrs or less to turn in my first 2500 word article. Please please.

A milestone is like a guarantee that the employer will pay you. He pays the milestone to freelancer, so he gets to release it once you are through with the job.
It is always advisable that you request for a milestone and ensure that he sets the milestone before you lay your hands on any project. You can also endeavour to read other previous posts on this thread so as to guide you.
Congratulations on your first project though, many more to come your way.

A milestone is an amount that will be paid when you reach or cover a certain percent of the project and it is also a gurantee that the employer has deposited money to be released after the project. It is advisable not to accept a project when your employer have not created a milestone because freelancer is going to charge you 10% or $5 from your account as their own cut. So of no milestone is created and you accept the job and later your employer decides not to go with you then you will be working with -5$ . will explain more when I am on my PC I am currently using my phone. attach it as a .doc file and send it to him through the freelancer chat. Thats all. There is a small icon at the down-left side of the chat window that looks like an office pin. Click on it and locate the file on your PC. Then attach it by double clicking and Voila!!! You can now send it

OK, so I got this e-mail from them freelancer peeps to show that ''humble me'' has been awarded the project. The e-mail has some things about milestone, invoice, bla-blah-bla. It's really as confusing as it can be. Can you help me? I mean I have not heard from my employer since he awarded me the project. What do you think I should do? Should I request for "milestone"? What is a "milestone" BTW?

So, there is this guy on FL asking me for a 120 word sample. (Yaaaayyy! It's my first!). What I do not know is this: Should I give him the sample as a chat or is there a particular way of doing this?
