Thank you so much for this. I will do as advised.

Ashirioluwa:

Do your best to appeal. You should briefly describe your finances and business in your letter of appeal.

Don't forget to mention your family and include any supporting materials, such as family photos and your marriage license.

You can also obtain a letter from your church. This can be used to demonstrate your connections to your local community (social ties).

Include all the necessary information that will help you show strong home and financial ties.

My wife and I were scheduled to travel from October 27 through November 3, but, because of embassy processing delays, I have to travel alone. She did her biometrics on August 24 and received her passport back on December 2nd, after the travel date deadlines. Regardless, her visa was approved.

Appeal processing is faster than regular visa processing. I don't think it will take more than a month to process because, as of Monday, December 5, they have started processing those appeal applications received on November 20.

Good morning all and I must say this thread has been so helpful.

I got my Passport yesterday, I applied on 31st August, 2022. I was REFUSED

These are the excuses they gave

1. My finances! They did not believe I have access to the money and complained about some lumpsums that came in and also on the fact that I use my money to balances that they believe are inconsistent with the expected amount that will cover for my stay for a week

2. My itinerary has passed as I informed I will travel in October as a result of expecting 6-8 weeks to process my visa

3. I did not book my hotel even though I showed them where I will stay. Will never have booked o until I see my Visa approved

4. They believed I did not have a tie to my home country (I run my business, have pictures of my family attached, showed them evidence of my assets (cars and house), church leadership!) This must be the Nigeria Japa factor and every Nigerian is now a suspect

5. My travel history was also an issue. I had only travelled to Cape Town and Dubai before now. They pointed to this that my last travel out of Nigeria was in 2018

6. The application letter too was stylishly used against me. I wrote that I LOOK FORWARD TO HAVING A WEEK OR TWO WEEK REST AT THE END OF THE YEAR.

7. Looks like they were not concerned about my earlier UK refusal though. Won't know if that also affected the decision though

Conclusion: I am truly not too bothered as indeed i just want to go for sightseeing and rest from many wahala and stress around here. not thinking of Japaing for now.

I am looking to APPEAL even if not for overturning their decision. Do I need to add my Passport again as I can't afford giving them another 3 months to hold me to ransom o

Sincerely, BEING A NIGERIAN AT THIS MOMENT IS SERIOUS O!

Thank you MaryAndrews
I have been able to confirm the payment will be done at the documents submission point

One more question, did you submit at the Lagos or Abuja Visa office?
MaryAndrews:
I paid my visa fee at VFS.
I booked an appointment with VFS online and paid 29k for VFS service, then on VFS appointment day they collected the N27k visa fee and N4.5k courier charge (paid with POS) during the (rather long) submission process

The Presidency has made a proposal for an upfront deposit of N1.5billion for a brand new private jet, which will become the
Presidential Air Fleet’s (PAF) 11th aircraft.
This figure is contained in the details of the 2014 Appropriation Bill presented to the National Assembly by President Goodluck
Jonathan through the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. The Federal Government has budgeted another N1.52b for the maintenance of the 10 aircraft
currently in the PAF in 2014 and it is now set to spend just about that amount on a new one. This prodigious squandering of taxpayers’ money is reckless and
unacceptable.
The PAF already boasts two Falcon 7X jets, two Falcon 900 jets, Gulfstream 550, one Boeing 737 BBJ (Nigerian Air Force 001 or
Eagle One), and Gulfstream IVSP. Others are one Gulfstream V, Cessna Citation 2 aircraft and Hawker Siddley 125-800 jet. The
combined estimated value of the PAF is about $390.5m (N60.53bn). According to industry experts, it costs a minimum of 20 per cent of that figure to maintain them
annually. So we’re looking at about $58.57m (N9.08bn) yearly for maintenance. Private jets are money guzzlers either in the air or
on land.
The proclivity of this administration for frivolous spending is well documented. The
government has been severely criticised in the past for the colossal amount of embezzlement, rip-off and wastage that have been its hallmark. The rationale behind
this new aircraft in the PAF must be condemned .
Apparently to hush the cacophony of voices that will rise in opposition to the proposed
new jet, the Presidency in its usual deceitful manner, has made part payment for what can best be described as a completely
unnecessary toy of comfort. The Nigerian PAF is already bloated. If he can’t travel in any of the 10 jets in PAF’s possession, then there’s absolutely no need for an eleventh one.
At a time we would think the numerous editorials and op-eds have succeeded in curbing waste and frivolities which this
government now symbolises, then came this new proposal. We must continue to resist their recalcitrance. This lavish lifestyle
must be checked.
The waste in government is also
demonstrated in the large entourage that accompanies Mr. President on his foreign trips. One can only imagine the millions
spent on hotel bills and estacodes that accrue to the government officials.
According to reports, world leaders are stunned at the strangely large number of
such entourage. The recent trip of President Jonathan in the first week of January this year to Kenya and the hullabaloo about his entourage are apt.
It is shocking that the same people who have budgeted millions for this new flying
toy are aware that the country has no national carrier as I write. It is shameful that the PAF has about the third largest fleet
of aircraft in the country with a total of 10 aircraft, coming closely behind Aero Contractors with 12 and Arik Air, the largest commercial airline in Nigeria with a fleet of 23 aircraft. Nigeria happens to be one of the few countries in the world with such a
large PAF. It is ridiculous that this is happening in an aviation sector that is dominated by foreign airlines. Nigerian carriers are going under due to cash constraints. Countries with visionary and focused leadership like Malaysia, Ghana, South Africa and a host of others across
Europe maintain only one aircraft in their PAF.
As the much publicised take-off of the proposed national carrier before the end of the year failed, it won’t be out of place to make a case for the government to seriously consider converting the PAF to a national carrier, retaining one or two for use by Mr. President and his co-travellers.
The private jets can form the hub of the charter aircraft.
What better example than the one given by a national leader like British Prime Minister, David Cameron, in 2010 when he slummed it in business class of a commercial airline flying from London to Washington. He was
caught on camera swanning around the world in hired jets. He flies around the world on British Airways! Had it been in Nigeria, security risks, flight delays are few
of the sundry reasons government officials would have given for not flying commercial airlines. The U.S. President, Barack Obama, reportedly pays for his food, ours spends almost a billion naira to entertain himself and members of his government yearly.
It amazes many Nigerians who watch in utter disbelief the profligate nature of government.
This government has embarked on some white elephants like mere renovation of official residences with billions of naira.

edunwosu: Good governance is the responsibility of everybody. Until we are able to exhibit the attributes of good governance in our individual capacities, the ills that bedevil our dear country, Nigeria will only become worse.

The link between democratic governance and socio-economic development is not automatic. It involves conscious effort on the part of not only the political actors, but significantly also, on the part of every Nigerian man, woman and child.

We must realize that we can no longer continue to dream good dreams about Nigeria if we refuse to do anything about it. There is HOPE only in ACTION.

The Good Governance Nigeria (GGN) believes that deepening democracy will make government truly responsive and accountable to the demands of ordinary people. GGN is also conscious of the need to change the orientation of Nigerians from that of rabid, insatiable greed to that of service to the nation and the collective interests of all Nigerians.

The truth is that at the moment, the scope and parameters of politics is so narrow that a few persons have mastered the intrigues and have the networks to mystify the process. This serves to exclude the common man and woman whose needs governance is supposed to serve. Most social groups for various reasons have therefore abandoned politics to the groups that have led us to where we are today.

Effecting democratic change in the political system is a must if we are to ensure that political power is used for public interest. GGN is about facilitating a fundamental shift in the political equation so that all agents of positive change and indeed, all Nigerians can bring their energies into the quest for good governance.

It is evident that the time for mere words has passed. For years, we have raised our voices without the action needed to bring about the positive change we all desire. We thus left the political space to those without the guiding principles needed for genuine nation-building. GGN calls on all Nigerians to develop interest in the political process and ensure that people who genuinely care for the country are elected into office. This can only be done when we choose to act by engaging in the political process.

As law abiding citizens that we must remain, GGN is offering a legal and constitutional path to all Nigerians desirous of a new Nigeria to become part of this historic effort and the beginning of a great journey to transform Nigeria.

barcanista: What is the ideology of this "group?

@Barcanista: The Op of this thread used to hate politics with all passion seeing the end point of most well meaning politicians even worse off than the so called known tyrants but got to know that POLITICS is the tool to which governance can be totally changed/reformed. The ideologies of the proposed NIGERIA YOUTH NETWORK includes but not limited to;
- Youth inclusion in administration
- Nigerian youth seen/encouraged to meaningfully contributing to the development of the nation
- Preventing an unwanted Nigeria version of the ARAB SPRING as the youth are VEXED and revolution imminent
- Constitutional review to make Nigeria a better nation
- Foreigners/Foreign investors outlook on the Nigerian youth due to the way even our leaders present us as incapable
- Support/Oppose any government/individual/group that is anti-human and youth degrading
- Add yours*

These are just some of the ideas that brought about the proposed Nigeria Youth Network which are expected to be well refined as we come together soon and make the change we desire.

Moreso, we believe, DEVELOPMENT is possible!

phantonce: what is the assurance that the youths won't be like pdp or apc.
nigeria constitution favours corruption and that won't change until the law is changed.
china didn't relegate there old b4 they were where they are.they changed some constitution that discouraged corruption.
we see wat we the youth do at school s.u.g.we are worse than gej.
we the youth are nt stable for a high political post.
revolution and a fight for constitutional review is wat we need.
unless there is something I am missing,I am nt in support of ur group

@PhantOne: Thats a good example cited above. Lets also take Ghana here as an example. Lets take Tunisia and Libya also as examples. Sir/Ma, I want us to start with knowing that the change recorded by these countries were brought about by singular/collective efforts of the youth and also that the proposed Nigeria Youth Network is not a YOUR party as you stated and not against any/working for any party. Much more, proposed NYN as earlier stated is not a SUG/Tertiary institution political party as earlier explained, hence the age range of 20-45 years. Sir/Ma, the aim of this group/party is YOUTH INCLUSION in administration and a means of bringing up a change. The OLD are not relegated and not to be relegated but the fact is if we keep on doing the same thing the same way and expect different result, then we may not be so wise.We stand to try out a change and also make a move at making out a YOUTH GROUP/PARTY that gives room to Nigerian youth having a say and not just seen as political thugs/election tools alone. The constitution as you said is corrupted and we can all move as a voice to make the change we desire. Finally, what I think you are missing is the fact that the first set of posts on this thread would have given you the insight into what we really stand for. Thanks as we will soon formally make a launch for the change we desire together!

phase1: Op good idea!...but...em, unfortunately i doubt the workability of your proposition. Wanna know why?. Aight, let's go back in history.
During the colonial days, Nigerian youths like Zik,Awo, Aminu kano where members of the Nigerian Youth forum(i stand to be corrected). Their ethno-religious differences were masked as they had one goal-getting rid of the colonial masters. It was a dream they all shared and they achieved it without spilling blood, immediately they achieved that, their ethnic and religious differences came to the fore, as their subsequent aspirations became different, most times running opposite and antagonist to one another.

My point is very simple to understand, Ethnicity and Religion are very powerful tools and every politician uses them...i repeat EVERY POWERFUL POLITICIAN. If not, people like Aregbesola won't be relevant with his recurrent omoluabi talk, Ngige wouldn't have lost in Anambra, Awo would have been president, the likes of Asari will be carving wooden boats, Uwazurike will be an ordinary trader, LAWAL Kaita and Junaid Mohd will be ordinary alfas, people like Pat utomi will be winning every polling booth. Are all these political possibilities?...Big No!

Anytime you raise the Tribal and Religion flag and shout to the world "i'm ready to die for this!" you are sure to get converts in millions signing up for your cause in split seconds. Ask the Muslim brotherhood in Egypt.

Show me one Nigerian politician who doesn't use these tools(religion and ethnicity) and i'll show a failed Nigerian Politician.

@Phase1: For real, Nigeria politics/administration in the era of democracy has been plagued by these two weapon/menace of RELIGION AND ETHNICITY! While the former is really subtle that the former, Nigerians had fallen for these all along. Well, the time is now when we need to make the move as the purpose of creating this thread is definitely almost fulfilled i.e to know youths readiness for liberation.
The proposed Nigeria Youth Network aims at getting the youth together and bringing out leaders/administrators in Us. Religion/ethnicity/academic level etc will not be a barrier but we hereby want all change oriented Nigerian youth to constructively contribute/be a part of this move for change. Thanks as I know someone like you will definitely be an indispensable part of this movement!

It always seem impossible until it is done!
