PoliticsObasanjo’s Action Provocative, Unacceptable – Fani- Kayode by yinkfad555(op): 7:13am On Feb 17, 2015
PEOPLES Democratic Party, PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, PDPPCO has lampooned former President Olusegun Obasanjo for tearing his membership card and final exit from the party, saying that such action was not only provocative, but unacceptable.

In a statement by the Director, Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Fani- Kayode, with the act, former President Obasanjo has burnt all the bridges, adding that what he did with his status and standing in the party and the country, was a spit on both the PDP and its members, adding that while he was free to leave, “he did not have to spit in their faces by publicly tearing the party card.

“Watching our party membership card being torn up whilst President Obasanjo was standing there and smiling was painful and tragic.

“This is a party which he helped to build and on whose platform he was elected President for eight good years. The truth is that President Obasanjo is far better and far bigger than that. Such behavior is provocative and unacceptable.

“He is free to leave the party but does he have to spit in our faces by tearing up our party card in public and before the television cameras?
“This knee-jerk reaction is most unlike President Obasanjo and it is very insulting. It is clear that he has burnt all the bridges and that he has left us forever.

“On a personal note I feel saddened by this but the truth is that many in our party have heaved a huge sigh of relief. Many of us love President Obasanjo and we shall continue to do so regardless of whether he is in our party or not but tearing up that party card was too much to bear.

“It spoke volumes and it was indicative of the deep hatred and contempt that he has for us and our cause. It reminded me of the biblical passage in which King Saul rejected David and then planned to stop him from ascending to the throne by attempting to kill and destroy him. Thankfully the Lord was with David and not only did he deliver him from Saul, but he also crowned him King.”

RomanceAftermath Of Valentine..do You Know When It Is Safe To Have Unprotected Sex? by yinkfad555(op): 7:19pm On Feb 15, 2015
Now that valentine is over, do you when it is safe to have unprotected sex? Please read this article if you had unprotected sex yesterday to be on the safe side..

Having unprotected sex can be quite enjoyable. But it does come with a consequence – a potentially significant one, if you’re not prepared to have and raise a child. Generally, there are four safe windows:

1. First 5 Days

You’re safe the first 5 days of your menstrual cycle if you ovulated during the previous cycle, which can be identified by observing clear and slippery egg white-like vaginal discharge, or by an obvious temperature shift 12 to 16 days before you bleed.

Ovulation in the previous cycle helps to confirm that your bleeding is true menstruation, not ovulatory spotting or abnormal bleeding unrelated to menses.

Note that this rule may not be reliable for women approaching menopause, because premenopausal hormone changes can result in dramatically early ovulation.

2. Dry Days

You’re highly unlikely to be fertile during your dry days.

Assume that you have a 28-day cycle. If you finish your period on day 5, and ovulate between day 12 and day 16, your dry days are likely to be from day 5 to day 10.

Of course, not everyone fits perfectly into this pattern.

Regardless, the most reliable way to identify your dry days is by paying close attention to your cervical fluid/vaginal discharge.

As the name suggests, your dry days are those days when you observe no cervical fluid or wetness at any point during the day.

Note that semen can mask the presence of cervical fluid. But if you’re dry all day the day after intercourse, you’re safe to have unprotected sex again that evening.

For an enhanced sexual experience during your dry days, check out Passion Lubes, the best selling lubricant on Amazon.

3. The 3rd Consecutive Day Your Temperature Remains High

If you track your body temperature, you may notice a rise in temperature 12-16 days before your menstruation by 0.4 to 1 degrees. The rise of temperature usually occurs immediately following your ovulation. Check out my basal temperature chart and how you can chart your own.

If your temperature continues to remain high for 3 days or more, you’re considered safe to have unprotected sex after the 3rd day.

However, if your thermal shift is not obvious, or if your temperature falls below your baseline temperature after its peak, you should use a more conservative method.

Start tracking your body temperature, you'll learn a lot about your menstrual cycles. And it will be an eye opening experience! All you need is a digital basal themometer.

4. The 4th Day after Your Peak Day (Ovulation)

Once you see your vertical fluid changing from wet, clear and egg white-like to dry, you’ll know that your peak day (ovulation) has occurred.

And once you’ve seen 4 dry days after your peak day, you can assume you are no longer fertile.

Whether you want to get pregnant or avoid it, it's important to know when you're ovulating. And the easilest way to know is to take an ovulation test.

PoliticsGovernor Fayose Confesses To Partaking In Ekiti Poll Rigging by yinkfad555(op): 5:17pm On Feb 15, 2015
Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose has finally confessed to partaking in the secret meeting where politicians led by former minister of state for defense, Musiliu Obanikoro met with army officer led by a Brigadier General plotted how to rig last August’s gubernatorial election for Mr. Fayose.

Mr. Fayose was speaking at an event in Ekiti where he inadvertently referred to the tape and then he quickly tried to change his story by claiming that he was only chastising the army general for being compromised in the presense of his collegaues. Mr. Fayose’s confession contrasts his earlier stance that the tape was manufactured with the aid of a voice software. The minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan had earlier confessed to being at the meeting, however, President Goodluck Jonathan told reporters from the Wallstreet Journal during a recent interview that the tape was not “real” stating that the incident will not be probed.

PoliticsMASSOB Introduces, Passport, Currency, Vehicle & Drivers Licences by yinkfad555(op): 9:51am On Feb 13, 2015
Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has urged the international community to rezone the country to enable each zone go back and conduct their own elections in the interest of peace.

Assistant National Information Director, Mr Sunny Okereafor, made this call while speaking to Daily Sun in Umuahia.

He said MASSOB has introduced vehicle plate number, bearing United States of Biafra, drivers and vehicle licences, tax receipt, international passport and currency at the World Bank, which are things that make a people a nation, there is the need for Biafrans to stay on their own.

On polls shift, he said: “We are calling on the international community to split Nigeria into six geo-political regions so that every region will go and conduct elections because we want peaceful co-existence. We are a non-violent organization and we are introducing non-violence in all the struggles for self-actualization in the whole of Africa”.

He urged all Igbo to go acquire all the things he has mentioned, get them and start using them because Biafra has come to stay.

“If you remember when President Goodluck Jonathan was making his broadcast in January, he said that a new nation has been born, the nation he was referring to is Biafra. Biafra is around, this is our identity, I am urging all Igbo to go and look for it. It is available in the whole Biafra region”, Okereafor said.

He extolled the virtues of their leader, Chief Ralph Uwazurike, whom he said introduced non-violence in the struggle for self-actualization, stating that non-violence is their fruit .

“That is why we are preaching non-violence where ever we go, we are a non-violent organization. We have everything to move as a nation. So, all the ethnic groups should go and conduct elections for themselves,” the Information boss said.

PoliticsSecurity Operatives Surround APC Campaign Spokesman’s Residence by yinkfad555(op): 4:03pm On Feb 12, 2015
A combined team of security operatives have surrounded the residence of the Director of Media of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organization, Mallam Garba Shehu.

The operatives who were armed to the teeth, took positions around ‎the house located at area 11, Garki Abuja, as early as 5:35am on Thursday morning.
One of Shehu’s colleagues at the Atiku Media 0ffice, who pleaded anonymity, called The PUNCH at about 6am.
He said, “Security men have surrounded the residence of our director, Mallam Garba Shehu in Area 11. They came in several vehicles. I cannot make out which of the security services because it is still dark here.
“None of them has said anything about why they are laying siege at his house.”
It was gathered that the security operatives were miffed by the audacity of the APC campaign.
The APC campaign which Garba heads, organised a prime time interview for Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd) ‎on CNN.
It was aired minutes after President Goodluck Jonathan held a media chat on national television.
Analysts say the CNN interview gave Buhari the advantage of responding to some of the allegations against him as well as some of the issues raised by Jonathan.
Some of the issues include the shift in the 2015 elections, the Boko Haram insurgency and the anti-corruption fight.
Garba could not be reached for comments as of the time of filing this report.

PoliticsObasanjo: It’s An Insult To Question Buhari’s Credentials by yinkfad555(op): 7:15am On Feb 12, 2015
Former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, yesterday said it is insulting and ridiculous to question the academic credentials of APC presidential candidate, retired Gen. Muhammad Buhari.

Speaking at the launch of his book, My Watch, in London, Obasanjo said when he joined the army, it was mandatory that one must have WASC or GCE before enlisting in the armed forces.
He said the requirements were the same when Gen. Buhari joined the army in 1961, adding that even if Buhari did not have the required qualifications then, he had gone through the staff college which is equivalent to a first degree and the U.S. War College which is equivalent to a master’s degree.

“If anybody thinks that I’m illiterate or uneducated after attending many military institutions in the UK, India and the US, they should read my books”, he said, and urged those engaged in Buhari’s qualification debacle to “focus on real issues and stop degenerating into trivialities”.

Obasanjo, who answered questions from the audience on various socio-political issues affecting Nigeria, said he would assess the candidates in the election and “vote for one with the best record”.

The former president remarked that God would not have forgiven him if he had allowed vice-president Atiku Abubakar to succeed him, noting that with his experience, he knew what the job of running Nigeria entailed and who could do it well.

On whether he was overheating the Nigerian polity with his comments, Obasanjo said: “I am not heating anything. When things are going bad and you can’t say anything, you are an accomplice. If anybody can prove that what I am saying is wrong, I will apologise”.

On the Chibok girls, Obasanjo berated the federal government for taking long to acknowledge the incident, but not doing enough to bring back the girls, stressing that though the girls may never come together again, “we must not forget them”.

He said in spite of the problems bedeviling Nigeria, the country’s future is “rosy” and bright, emphasizing that the country faced similar problems in the past, including the civil war but came out stronger.

“God will see Nigeria through. Nigeria will emerge successfully and move up and forward”, he said.

The book launch which was attended by mainly Nigerians in Diaspora, was anchored by Richard Dowden of the Royal African Society, London, and Zeinab Badawi, a renowned television broadcaster.

PoliticsI’m First President To Create 5,400 Jobs Says Jonathan by yinkfad555(op): 8:55am On Feb 11, 2015
President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday boasted that his was the first administration in the history of the country to create 5,400 direct jobs for the nation’s unemployed youths.

The President said the feat was achieved through the Federal Government’s Youth Enterprise with Innovation in Nigeria, otherwise called YouWin.

Jonathan spoke during the inauguration of the Youth Entrepreneurship Strategy at the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The programme was designed to encourage youth employment and self-reliance.

Jonathan also said 2,500 entrepreneurs empowered by his administration had also created an average of nine jobs each, therefore, bringing the total jobs created to 22,000.

The President said, “This will be the first government in the history of Nigeria that will directly create 5,400 jobs through the YouWin programmes. I am also proud to say that the 2,500 entrepreneurs have created an average of nine jobs each, making it a total of 22,000 jobs so far.

“Entrepreneurs are the engine room of Nigeria’s economy as they are responsible for more than 60 per cent of our $510bn Gross Domestic Product and the MSMEs are responsible for almost 98 per cent of the new jobs created in our economy on an annual basis.

“The new jobs we are targeting will come from the SMEs.”

Jonathan expressed delight that the success story of his administration’s job creation efforts was impressive and beyond expectation.

The failure rate of the programme, he added, was less than 10 per cent.

He said his administration at inception identified unemployment among youths as one of the greatest challenges to tackle.

This, he said, was the reason why his government took numerous steps to tackle the challenge.

He said his administration’s target was to create not less than two million jobs annually.

The Minister of Youth Development, Mr. Boni Haruna, had earlier described the programme as a private sector-driven initiative that sought to empower youth.

The Chief Executive Officer of Anabel Group, Mr. Nicholas Okoye, said the present administration had empowered over seven million youths.

Okoye said the figure had surpassed the total of those empowered by previous administrations put together.

“Those who say you (Jonathan) have not done anything for the youth are simply not saying the truth,” he said.

Noting that all Nigerian problems are subset of employment crisis among the youth, Okoye commended the Federal Government for tackling the challenge headlong.

PoliticsJonathan Is Last Civilian President —prophet by yinkfad555(op): 11:47am On Feb 06, 2015
Predicts interim govt . Nigeria to split in three

Royal House of David Ministry’s Prophet Godfrey Gbujie yesterday said President Goodluck Jonathan will be the last civilian president to rule Nigeria before another civil war breaks out.

He said the nation “is at the crossroads of the last phase of 20 years reign of demons beginning from 1995-2015.”

The prophet, who claimed to have predicted the deaths of former military ruler, Gen. Sani Abacha and President Shehu Yar’Adua, told newsmen in Owerri that neither Gen. Muhammadu Buhari nor Goodluck Jonathan would be president in 2015.

“Buhari has a mission divinely imposed on him, but he shall not rule this country again; even if he wins, God has not determined him to find His favour. Jonathan is the last elected president of this country,” he stressed.

He refuted the possibility of military take-over, saying no military coup will succeed against the Jonathan administration.

However, he said “a loyal military commander will form interim government as there is going to be temporary vacancy in Aso Rock,” adding that head of the interim government would convene a national peace conference.

According to him, another crisis would erupt from the North, which will be led by two generals. “The two generals will emerge to lead a war from the North, which will eventually lead to the emergence of a young man from the East, who shall be chief peace mediator for the nation at the time of national crisis.”

The prophet, who claimed that God was angry at Nigeria and its rulers, said his vision reveals “the very bloody civil crises, which the Omnipotent God has decreed and is about to bring upon Nigeria.

“The nation has been condemned to geo-political disintegration and three independent nations shall emerge from her ruins. Biafra shall be re-established and Oduduwa nation shall emerge while the Northern Nigeria might prefer to answer Republic of Northern Nigeria at the time.”

He warned: “Do not despise the word of prophecy; I encourage whosoever reads or hears these prophecies to believe them and offer praises to God as each comes to fulfillment.”

PoliticsCouncil Of State May Discuss Poll Shift Tomorrow by yinkfad555(op): 1:32am On Feb 04, 2015
The calls for the postponement of this month’s general elections may be discussed during Thursday’s(tomorrow) Council of State meeting convened by President Goodluck Jonathan.

The council consists of the President, the Vice-President, all former Presidents or ex-Heads of State, all former Chief Justices of Nigeria, the President of the Senate, all state governors and the Attorney-General of the Federation.

One of the key responsibilities of the body is to advise the President in the exercise of his powers with respect to the Independent National Electoral Commission, including the appointments of members of the commission.

Proponents of the polls’ shift had hinged it on the inability of INEC to distribute enough Permanent Voter Cards to registered voters. The call is widely believed to be engineered by the Presidency, which though had denied the charge.

INEC had however insisted that there would be no postponement of the elections.

The PUNCH however learnt from a Presidency official in Abuja on Tuesday that the Council of State would review the preparations for the elections by INEC and the relevant security agencies.

He said that information available to the government showed that contrary to the claims by the Chairman of INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega, the commission was not yet ready for the elections.

For example, the official claimed that INEC only awarded the contract for the printing of ballot papers for the February 14 presidential election last Monday.

He wondered how the ballot papers would be made ready before February 14 which is the first day of the polls.

The official said, “The truth of the matter is that if urgent step is not taken, Prof. Jega may end up ridiculing this country.

“Available information shows that the commission is not set for this election contrary to Jega’s claim.

“We learnt he actually summoned a meeting recently with a view to postponing the election but he is scared of the opposition who have been kicking against such.

“This Thursday (tomorrow) meeting will definitely review INEC’s preparations and take a stand.”

Another Presidency source also informed The PUNCH that Jonathan might use the opportunity provided by the meeting to garner support for the postponement of the polls.

“The Presidency is not resting on its oars concerning the plan to shift the elections. It is already in talks with some members of the council,” he said.

On what the Presidency would do if the plan fails, he replied, “we would opt for another plan, which is to return to the drawing board; plan a new strategy on how to deal with our opponents.”

To underscore the importance Jonathan attaches to the meeting, his re-election campaign rally earlier billed to hold on Thursday in Yenagoa, the capital of his home state, Bayelsa, has been put on hold.

It was gathered that the rally might hold later in the day if the meeting ended on time or be shifted to Friday.

The PUNCH has however learnt that some of the proponents of election postponement might have perfected plan to ensure that Jega did not return as INEC chairman if their plan materialises.

A week-long investigation by one of our correspondents showed that the Presidency was waiting patiently for INEC to yield to the pressure before coming out with its real plan for Jega.

It was gathered that the Presidency and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party were not ready for the elections and believed that their chances could be affected if the elections were held as scheduled.

Because of this, the Presidency, backed by some hawks in the PDP, are said to be waiting for an auspicious time to ask the INEC chairman to proceed on terminal leave. His tenure ends on June 9, 2015.

The PDP source said, “The plan is to discredit the election by forcing postponement. When this is done, sponsored people and groups would start asking for the sack of Jega.

“At this point, the government would then say because of this, he should proceed on terminal leave and then ask the most senior national commissioner to take over and conduct the election.”

Jega’s nomination as INEC chairman followed approval by a meeting of the Council of State.

Jonathan had said then that he had never known Jega, a former chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

PoliticsPVCs Ready For Collection Says INEC by yinkfad555(op): 8:29am On Feb 03, 2015
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, yesterday said the commission had produced Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for all the registered voters in the country.

Deputy Director, Voter Education and Publicity, INEC, Mr Nick Dazang, disclosed this at a workshop organised for journalists in Kaduna.

INEC had in January announced that it registered 68.8 million voters in the country for this month’s general elections.

Dazang said although the commission earlier had challenges in the production of the cards, it was able to overcome the challenges.

He said the commission had produced cards for those whose data were lost and those recently captured during its Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).

“At a point in time, the contractor producing the cards had machine failure, but after sometimes, he overcame the problem and was able to boost level of production from 350,000 to 600,000 per day.

“The one we sublet was able to produce 1.4 million daily and that explained why we keep telling people that we have confidence that we will produce the card and every one will get it.

“Now, as we speak, the cards for those whose bio-data were captured during the Continuous Voters Registration are available for collection.”

He said the cards had been distributed to respective states for collection and owners could collect theirs at the distribution centers.”

Dazang also said that no fewer than 65 per cent of the cards had been collected nationwide as at yesterday morning.

“As at last week when we had a meeting with our Public Affairs Officers in Abuja, the commission had distributed 63 per cent of the cards.”

He assured that those who registered would collect their cards before February 14.

Dazang said the commission had taken delivery of 152,000 card reader machines, which would be used at the 120,000 polling units during the polls, adding that each card reader was configured for use at specific polling units.

Dazang also said that non-sensitive materials had been distributed, while the distribution of sensitive materials would begin soon.

Dansang, who commended the level of collaboration INEC had with the media, said the commission would continue to work with journalists to improve the nation’s election process.

“For any election to be successful, the electoral body must work with the media,” Dazang said.

As ex-confab delegates seek polls’ postponement

Meanwhile, barely two weeks to the general election, some former members of the 2014 National Conference, yesterday, called for the postponement of the election, saying INECwas not ready for the polls.

The delegates, in their separate presentations on the issue at a symposium entitled “The National Conference and the 2015 Elections” organised by the HH Macaulay Centre for the Advancement of Democracy in Abuja said going ahead with the election when many Nigerians were yet to collect their PVCs would mean disenfranchising thousands of eligible voters.

Some of the delegates who were mainly discussants included Col. Tony Nyiam, Mr. Dan Nwanyanwu, Madam Anko Briggs, Chief Mike Ozekhome, Mr. Yinka Odumakin amongst others.

Senator Femi Okoromu, who was also a delegate to the defunct conference was the chairman of the occasion.

Though some of the panelists differed on the postponement of the elections for fear of prompting violence and protest in the country, some however were in favour of the call.

For instance, former National Chairman of Labour Party (LP), Chief Dan Nwanyanwu was one of those who supported the call. According to him, INEC had fallen short of the expectations of many Nigerians in the distribution of the PVCs.

Also speaking, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Chief Mike Ozehkome also advised that it would amount to the disenfranchisement of many Nigerians should the elections be held as slated without considering the inadequacies of INEC.

EducationFG Plans To Approve Nine More Federal Universities by yinkfad555(op): 7:52am On Feb 03, 2015
The Federal Government has concluded plans to approve nine more universities. This will bring to 18 the number of universities it had approved in last three years.

The Education Minister, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, who announced this, also stated that the government had earmarked N1.3tn as intervention grant to its universities courtesy of the National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy Assessment Programme.

Shekarau stated this in Abuja while X-raying the Nigerian Basic Education Sector (2011-2015).

The minister said, “If not for technical reason, another nine would have been approved before now. Soon, we shall sort out all the outstanding issues and they will receive government approval. This will bring to 113 the number of universities in the country and 18 private universities approved in the last three years.”

The minister said that the NEEDS Assessment intervention grant was sequel to several deliberations between the Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

He explained, “We have persistent complaints from our universities about dilapidated laboratories and so on; then the government took the bull by the horn. President Goodluck Jonathan set up a committee to go round the universities on the platform of NEEDS Assessment which was conducted two years ago.

“At the end of the assessment, the universities came up with a bill of N1.3tn required to address the necessary need in public universities and the government accepted it. Since the government cannot dish out N1.3tn all at once, there is an agreement between the Federal Government and the leadership of the ASUU that the needs be addressed over a period of five years with a provision of N220bn every year.”

According to the minister, the NEEDS intervention is in addition to normal budgetary allocations to universities and TETFund interventions, among others.

On the incessant strikes by unions in the tertiary institutions, Shekarau said the Federal Government was trying to address the challenges.

He said, “I think we are making some progress on incessant strikes in the sector. We have succeeded in ensuring we have strike-free sessions in our institutions. We are determined to achieve this and the issue of strike would soon be a forgotten issue.

“This doesn’t mean there won’t be problems. There is hardly any sector where there is no problem but frank and strong discussions can resolve them. It is our hope that exchange of views would help us to be strike-free in this country.”
