Xenophobia and the reality of hatred By _Meduoye Adeyinka_ Like the blood-sucking army of the dead hidden far behind the northern wall – they assembled, motioned in droves, ransacking and pillaging every corner of the street. They burgled into kiosks and business palaces; irrupts onto shop verandas – forcefully phishing out their African fellows to the open like a thief caught in the day. They burned down properties and shacks in an unfettered manner, giving the shop owners a lion-chase-man swag, while the security blokes gaze sideway. Without feigning ignorance of strong territorial controls, they beat their chests unrepentantly – chanting their cognomen – singing vociferously in collective accord in adulation to the cloud hovering above saying “foreigners must go back to their countries, migrants must leave, we are South Africans”. They couldn’t hide their grievances and unwarranted demands under the heavens, as fluids of sweat strolled down their dark delicate skin. “They are taking away our jobs and businesses – above all, they are taking our women” – one uttered in the most baritone of voice. “These migrants are responsible for the flurries of crimes and criminalities in our land, they must go or we kill them” – another muttered in the Afrikan parlance. It is worrisome, it is heart-piercing – the infamous degree of barbarism, despotism, and irrationalities is no more a regional threat and the world are no longer waiting patiently with bated breath for the situation to snowball or calm itself, as it has gone beyond human comprehension. My head ached, my eyeballs nearly gushed out, as I watched with discretion – one of the xenophobic video clips that had twerked on cyberspace. The said video depicts the human conscience nauseating to a degree of near zero existence. The sound of sharp metal blades deposited on the beauty of the famous dark skin, is a gory experience to behold. They have no empathy under heavens. Yes!!! The primary responsibility of every sane government is to see to the protection of her citizens but those that had failed in seeing to the security of life and properties of her citizens within the corridors of her porous borders aren’t expected to secure those outside it. It is not magical but norlmacy. From the privy of the upper-room, they have lost contact with reality – they see nothing, hear nothing, feel nothing but good in picking their teeth after gulping a sumptuous meal. There are strong indications that those jobbers and marauders fanning the ember of discord among the populace treat peace as a relative term. In their devilish thoughts, that without fulfillment of their agitations, they will not allow peace to reign. They act like banelings leaving underworld, with no recognition for the principle of the equal rights among the populace. Who are they and their cohorts? What are they really agitating for or/and against? They cause mishap in broad daylight without feeling remorseful. Their acts are barbaric and callous. They mishap on the streets; mishap at home; mishap in shops, kiosks, and trains without drawing recourse on their conscience. They smiled sheepishly. To them, it isn’t imperative to place pressing and dire issues into proper perspectives to guide the unsuspecting members of the public against irrational thoughts and actions. The deliberate purpose of not projecting and promoting the spirit of nationalism is their appellation, while they fail to guide the young and juvenile minds to align with the vision of creating a brighter rewarding future in consonance with the ideals of a strong and virile economy as seen during the struggle of post-apartheid. Sufficient knowledge on contemporary issues within the hemisphere of our societies and beyond is very essential towards the understanding of the limitations of our rights and privileges as a good measure of the rights and privileges of others. Is peace the prevalence of truth over falsehood, or the victory of honesty over deceit? That is mind-boggling. In a clime of ours, peace should be considered as sustenance of decorum among the people especially for the purpose of creating positive direction to its supposed challenges. Truth be told – the daily struggles of humans to accomplish needs for survival even in the face of daunting challenges, attune to our inclinations for peace, but most of us are not mindful of this worrying assertion in the real sense of evaluation. To a great extent – poverty troubles the mind, epidemic of crime leads to fear, and insecurity leads to despair. The actions and reactions are tractable to human fallibility, which could be chiefly ascribed to the myriads of abnormalities and negativities in governmental policies, therein inducing both intra-regional and inter-regional disorderliness and uproar among the populace, as we have seen twerking on international screen with its origin in South Africa. Even in the realm of fallibility and imperfections, the sense of property and shack is to be embrace, as it will allow deep thoughts and positive thinking towards contentment as a means of peace of mind. Whether one is Nigerian, Zimbabwean, Somailian, Zambian or South Africa, human feelings should be cuddle as a page-one factor, in pricking the conscience in sound reasoning and guide sane minds towards the safeguarding and policing of property. An ideal home should serve as a model to others in a society. The government of South Africa had failed woefully in this regard. The less concern in securing life and property of foreigners better termed migrants is condemnable, hence regarded as a monumental failure in her face. The ideal of laying good example where tranquility and harmony reign shall be our utmost priority is being washed and rinsed with filthy waters. Even in the advent of civilization, the cliff of the famous African colonialism is still tagged “backward”. There is something not right with the black race. Our challenges keep roaming the street nakedly while our leaders looked sideway, chasing it in the dark since we are being hypnotized into the dummy State. What have we done wrong? Have we offered the wrong sacrifice? Have we done the wrong thing in the right time? Or the right thing in the wrong time? Which way Africans? Since we failed to engage in societal togetherness with our fellows. Shall we continue to adorn ourselves with the attire of hatred? When shall we chase out the phantom of division and embrace the spirit of oneness and unison into our society? Shall we continue to be a laughing stock in the very face of the while fowl? The siege mentality that cut across our national identity as black race must be properly addressed through re-orientation exercise and review notions that pitched us against others. The preponderance of immoralities within the hemisphere of our porous societies must be challenge with a target to promote and project peace in order to curb and abate the scourge of violence among the people. It is indeed very sad situation when Africans rise up against fellow Africans, with target to maim under dubious guise, and claim sincerity for their heinous and profane actions. The effects of the psychology of dialogue are much needed as a verifiable tool in crisis management and dispute resolution to persuade the populace against any violence. The exigent intervention of both the UN and the AU is germane in seeing to the negativities strolling from point to point within the African wall. It is time for realities to be considered above fallacies. Adeyinka writes from Lagos. yinkopet@gmail.com +2348185546555 |

*Nigeria Politics and the Power Saga* by _Meduoye Adeyinka_ The turbulence in the mountain signals the shrill blast of a whistle, which had sounded in the distance. This time, crane booms were hurriedly swung aside and men clothed in shining armor like that of a scorpion king, walked off the very pavement of the upper room railroad right-of-way. This was routine for the contractors’ who were constructing a mammoth overpass in the core of the central city some years aback. These men watched ceaselessly for the Express Train which would come thundering by in about a minute. ‘’If that whistle-man ever misses his cue, it’ll be too bad for us to withheld’’ uttered a worker. But when tragedy struck in the shadow of full blown casualty, it was not for lack of warning. Cautions were taken this time, as the familiar whistle sounded and the men walked off the rail track. Two men just stepped over to the adjoining track. They watched closely as the northbound freight motion slowly towards them, its whistle screaming under the heavens – but they were out of its way. It did seem like that train whistle and the road bed vibration were more than usual. The two men never saw the fast approaching XYZ Express Train on the rail track where they were standing. It grounded and hurled them into the underworld. They envisaged and thought they were in a safe place but they were dead wrong as their bodies flattened to the track shape. It is cunning, its dangles – the politics of Nigeria is far from intellectual discourse and engagement but a macabre theatre of deceits and subterfuge. The tale of Uncle Brown finagling and wriggling his way into a corner of the privy, calls for exigency amidst shrugging off constitutional facilities thus silencing the guiding principles of the land. The scripts of Mister Ebony jumping on the bandwagon, with a core objective accrued to personal advantage, against the wishful thinking of the people, is a headlight to the quest to clinch power without regard for the law or common decency. The need for an unambiguous goal orientation in nation building, the movement away from the undertaker economics that have warped national possibilities, the non-reinforcement of failing policies and the enforcement of well strategic policies, and the relevance of addressing military disengagement in the pages of democratic memoirs. The unfitted garment of a nation developmental status is chiefly ascribed to the reflection of the degeneration of our societal and leadership standards. The failure to curb the dysfunctional social policy framework that fails to keep the government intention abreast with the genuine democratic expectations of her citizens especially in terms of infrastructural deficit like power supply, good roads network, well equipped and sound health facilities, and promising educational status – is alarming and disgusting, and thus to the point of constitutional reaffirmation. In a blink, an election had come and go, which in turn led to declaration of political squabble, disturbance of national peace, spewing of decayed language and the spread of paroxysm of hatred across the media space, shaking of administrative desks, and of course – the cunning interests of the foxes in prolonging the lives of the poultry. Truth be told – the characterization of the above is seen being screwed into the walls surrounding the unprecedented but prospective leadership of the 9th Assembly. One ought to understand that the present political chaos is connected with the decay of language, without ignoring the inability to work in harmony, even in the face of a broom-victory. There is division in the chase of the leadership of both the upper chamber and red chamber, as notable Honorables, with penchant for snoring during plenaries, wriggles their filthy toes in a quest to kiss the gavel. The pyramid of our guiding principles is no longer standing on the foundation of value. Instead of these undistinguished Honorables to agglomerate their ideas , therein designing a well structural economic policies that will forge the country ahead, they rather choose to popped out their pot bellies forward, thumping of their noses, in adulation to the cloud hovering above the edifice of the chamber. The act of lobbying themselves is a famous hallmark in the ‘’Power Race’’ game. Fellow Nigerians, it will be challenging not to type this – what we have seen on national display, twerking across the cyberspace, is really not a party of ideas and adequacies that is if they possess any beforehand. It is not a party of legislation, which can’t agree among one another. So they have shape-shift to a party of gridlock and a party of investigation. Even if there is no basis for it, that is just what they do. The chamber is at loggerheads with itself in the future of the present. The only thing they agree on is to have endless investigation, without ignoring their technical breaching of the common decency. They are bunch of cabin biscuits. It is pertinent to accede that, one can’t be a good pilot fighter, if one doesn’t have a good understanding and working relationship with one wingman. There are heaps of economy and security challenges staring boldly at us in the eye. The annunciation of the northern part of the nation holding onto power beyond 2023, basking on the under-development story lines of the region, is shambolic and less reverence. It is indeed laughable since the reason is quite simple – from the inception of the present day Nigeria state, history tells that the North have hold onto power as being compared to her sister region. The ideal is straight – No precognitive and pragmatic blueprint, No development. Holding onto the pillars of power even till eternity isn’t the deal, it is what we do with the power, that places us for recognition. The leadership of the northern region continues to masquerade their strife of interests as a context of principles. The conducts of the actualization of their public affairs are being channeled to their self-advantage and personal aggrandizement. The threats of the preponderance of illiteracy are nothing but page-one factors, which have undermined the development of the region. They fail to subscribe that the citizens are the conscience of the society, and the youths, the propeller in the determining of a developing society. Distancing them from the corridor of western education is a negative factor on their persons, and also on the society. No sane society sprung up and develops on its own; it is the birth of ideas, and the application of such that thus transform a society from a state of dystopia to an enviable state of utopia. I had refused to be a product of conformity, as I never choose to pitch my tent at the side of prevailing mediocrity. Subjecting our northern brothers and sisters to just Quranic education is not fair, and denying them western education is mentally brutal to the soul of man. Religion is one thing, education is another – both play pivotal roles in the life of every man. Something they can’t deny their own children of. Instead of tranquility and nobility to be our emblem, we rather choose to pitch our tent under the aegis of mediocrity and oppression. We are quick to send honorary invitation to the lord of the underworld, to come preach to our open-mindedness, the spirit of societal division and its maladies, much to the dismay of the populace and to their own chagrin. These leaders nurture and develop the ambitions of their children, in a quest to occupy top positions within the nation top agencies and parastatals. Which way Nigerians? Our leaders are shitting on us; they have no compassion for us like a cat will have for a sandpiper. The rapacious families are gathering their nests, in a notorious assembly down the South, with just a mission – the idea of actualizing the region presidential hold of power come 2023. They ignore the sardonic happenings of the now, failing to proffer lasting solutions to the daunting challenges in the present, as they are being preoccupied with the strategies of securing the lock to the upper room. The drama of jostling for the land most coveted office is a sub-regional wrestle in the epicenter of the South. Yes!!! While it is ok to plan ahead that is being precognitive in nature – it will be better off staying focus on the present national challenges and hurdles, with a specific focus to gain economic stability. For crying out loud, 2023 is still four years to come, 2019 is here – let’s work on the pathway to the actualization of its governance. The dividends of democracy promised beforehand, by these phony political jobbers, seem not to reach its Canaan land, as its crawling rate is now fully cemented on grounds encompassing political matters. These political gladiators lack ideological premises in promoting democratic ethos here and there. The selfish creed of chasing after persona merit is now regarded as a national honor. And finally, a two termed second-in-command of the nation is famously tagged as a ‘Cameroonian’ by some stooges guiding the upper room. Oh my God!!! Like seriously!!! I never knew there are political gynecologists in the politics of our Nigeria. Chai, these blokes will carry out both archeological and historical studies on your ancestors and they will jerk up from their grave. What a country!!! |
*The Flux of Bandits* by _Meduoye Adeyinka_ The silence of the talking drum goes aloud as the fierce masquerade and his stooges which dances at night have shape-shifted to the league of banelings walking in the day. They collectively sang in adulation, to the cloud hovering above and chant their own cognomen while the dispirited onlookers muttered in boundless accord, as their baritone voices goes wild round the village square. We are the all-in-all who is boastful of our oriki and ostentatious in our bizarre appearance. Their masquerading attire was in no rush befitting that of the Catholic Sisters’ regalia – this time, their facial conformation was quite seeable, since they now have the key to the privy of the upper room. The very image I etched in my mind about these flurry of unfathomable lots, was that of the village head who is a Baron of the Brigands – whose household sells igbo (Indian Hemp), his children – the warlords and street urchins of the ghetto, collecting illicit levies at the street junctions, his wife trades ogogoro (Local dry gin). Yet, we want those bedeviling actors out of the village. Clothed like a knight in shining armor, they rode into town on their horses, wreaking havoc in broad daylight, as limbs kept flying like hot air balloons: men plying away from their mud state homes: children butchered like blooded beef: life taken in a blink. Yet, there are confessions and retractions in the public space, as trophies of death are being displayed on the national screen. These soul killers who doubles as body-kidnappers, courageously beats their broad chest, taking stance at their misdeeds, they mishap at home: mishap in the bush, mishap in the farm, walks on breathless bodies, burgle into corridors, abduct innocent souls, and continually ply their heinous trade in the open – still, they are unfazed, unchecked and unhanded by the strong arm of justice. Their irrationality, brutality, military capability, inner mediocrity, power display, sheer audacity and boldness, sprout day-in-day-out, and Nigeria is now in a disturbed state. If the bane of punitive measures is not taken into consideration and execution, then it is only a matter of time before they could infiltrate and make striking incursions into the core of the land. Like the terrifying and infamous “Army of the Dead”, they wag their tail – destroying, decimating, burning and slaughtering every living thing that cross and lies in their path. They parades their feet on the ocean of demonic and devouring locusts, that strips bare everything in its path. They motion in droves with the fling of death on their wings, epitomizing their dark and evil wave of life-wasting, soul-killing and blood-sucking attributes. If we are to resist an external invasion in a clime of ours, then it can logically be termed “the flux of bandits” as it has move from its overlooked phase of phantasmagoria and deceit to a nomenclature of realities. The Abuja-Kaduna route is now regarded as the carnage of the bandits. The route is presently the most dangerous to ply, the height of abductions and kidnappings pillaging and sacking the land in broad daylight could chiefly be ascribed to the reflection of the degeneration of our leadership and societal standards. Like a cat will have for a sandpiper, Political jobbers parading themselves as our leaders have no compassion for the people. Some even see to the actualization of these heinous acts of security insurgence, with a dubious target at inflating their security votes. Nigerians are mostly concerned about the security of life and properties but we got entangles in the opposite. We got lock horns at the security front as men kept wrestling in avail to save lives. The sects are ranked the fourth deadliest terrorist in accordance to the released world terrorist index yet it is tagged a saint within the privy of the upper room. The incessant killings and abductions goes on and the locust kept eating deep into our struggling democratic history. The security chiefs are keeping mute, employing palliative measures of community policing to curb the weight of security lapses, since oneness and unison are being sidelined while the responsibility of the central is gradually fading. Without feigning ignorance of their just honored and equality to the likes of Afenifere and Ohaeneze, the Miyetti Allah are the most pampered and popular organization in Nigeria today. Little wonder, they were allegedly offered #100bn to stop and halt the bane of killings and kidnappings in the land, as being boldly pronounced by a serving minister. The sect can gaze at the law in the eye without a blink. The law fidgets and looks sideway – probing the bed chamber of the sect victims. Fellows Nigerians – what have we done wrong? Families are being wiped out in a twinkle: Communities are being sacked. Can the killings be demystified? Can the kidnappings be unfazed and unmask? Have we done the wrong thing at the wrong time? Or have we done the right thing at the wrong time? Are the gods angry with the land? Traveling by land is now given a second thought? Walking without taking into cognizance our environ is being regarded a disaster in futility? What shall we do to tame the bane of abductions? Those who repeat falsehood on a minute-by-minute basis, never seized to spew out flimsy excuses or alternatives, to the actual realities we feel today. These insidious actors have no end to the nonsense we hear day-in-day-out without inviting restrictions. “I had seen the IG – he is losing weight, I think he is working hard” is fondly regarded as a qualifying phrase in curbing the preponderance of insecurity ravaging the land. This is emotional blackmail, as we are being swayed by public opinions and vendetta. The intellectual discourse and engagement of the nation democratic proceedings are enveloped in the theatre of deceit, ineptitude and vicissitude. The penchant for creating and designing the aura of disorderliness, by phony political jobbers are deeming to plunge the nation into perpetual ruin days. The children of those they fail to train and educate will someday come after their own children. These phony political jobbers never stop to create alternative realities, against the judgment of what we actually think and feel – and they have the mandate to intensely beat these impoverished cook-ups into our brain. In the stillness of that, they whisper to our ear saying – “there are no scars, no wounds, no blood but blood of national development”. The "Protector of the Realm" in his words – had promised not to let Nigerians down in providing effective leadership and result-oriented leadership that will safeguards and ensures a better life for citizens, assuring that he is conscious of the weight of responsibility on his shoulders, and he will keep working to deliver an improved life to Nigerians. Huhh, I hope it is actualizing, for the film of promise is unending. The fowl of the air may lodge under it shadow but when the big tree fall – the birds will scatter in different directions. Indeed, the night is dark and full of terror but the drowning and struggling democratic ship of the nation, shall someday be rescue and rejuvenated to its full energies. |
The Upper-room and its Romance Saga by _Meduoye Adeyinka_ Like a pebble thrown in waters, our national peace sinks in an unfettered manner, as she continues to ply her heinous trade in the core of the village square. She burgles into corridors – wriggles into houses – irrupts onto communities – abducting naïve and struggling souls, and then deleting her stubborn rivals in strict accordance to her command under the heavens. She wags her tail in delight, parades her feet like a squire saying “I shall continue to be the one-in-one, who is so boastful of my oriki and ostentatious in my bizarre appearance’. She prances around the courtyard, flailing her borrowed sword into the aura of mischief. This time, beating her chest unrepentantly, as the chants of her cognomen echoes aloud “I now have the key to the privy of the upper-room, since I can’t dig my sword to the sands – I can mishap in the bush, mishap at home, mishap in the farm, and yet the strong arm of justice can’t unfazed and unchecked my dealings”. Every corner of the nation’s democratic vault is being plagued by the rapacious family feathering their noxious nests without regard for the law and the common decency. They have utter disregard for democratic values and dispensations at home and abroad – the disdain for our struggling democracy and its demonstrations; the hunger for constraining a free press; the political and unbiased admiration for thuggery characterization, and the embrace and cuddling for strongmen worldwide. Our democratic attire is being enshrined in the making of a “banana republic” as limbs kept flying like hot-air-balloons. Our government has ceased to outline and characterize their functions, as we are being clothed with the symptoms of a failing State. Constitutional facilities are technically drowned without feeling remorseful in the mantra of her “next level” appellation, as being propounded and developed on the slippery surface of her “wind of change”. From their closet, they continue to dictate and navigate the policies of Nigeria in a retrogressive style, as they never seize to stop beating into our ears against the stark realities of what we actually feel and think. The fact that instinct is a natural tendency doesn’t place it higher than knowledge especially in the pool of national discourse. Our political leaders are clothed in ineptitude, self-centeredness, abject impunity without putting into consideration, the priority of the populace to proper representation. No compassion towards the people, like a cat will have for a sandpiper. These Political jobbers and marauders kept preaching aloud “ours is not an advanced democracy” but we consistently fail to improve on the gains of the last few years to advance democratic norms and values. The coherent shrugging off of the guiding principle of the land; the throwing of deaf ears to the wails of the bereaved; the feigning of ignorance to the rule of law; the subversion of the people’s will - are cankerworms folded with prolonged corrupt institutional practices, where human dealings are viewed under the microscope of unending sentiments and parochialism. Against the backdrop of insinuations of non-performance and negative narrative at the security front, the lord commander of the upper-room had failed to see to the safety and security of lives and properties. The once regarded no-nonsense-bros had in no time shape-shifted to baneling leaving underworld, as we kept chasing shadows within the stairs of our porous societies. The irrational ideology of “God will judge the killers” is nothing but an ill-faded phrase that can’t quench the preponderance of brutality, rascality, open combativeness, gory experience and sheer audacity ravaging, pillaging and ransacking the land. Like the prince with the most dashing moustache, ready to give the warmest of hug to the beautiful maiden through magical prophecies, as being documented in the chapters of time – the consistent and conspicuous warm embrace, cuddles, and patting at the back between the Protector of the Realm who doubles as the Famous Holder of the Rock and his kinsmen, can’t be overemphasize and box to a tight corner, as seen twerking on cyberspace. The media space is on the boil, patriotic Nigerians this time are crusading over the clampdown of the calamitous livestock transformation programme in RUGA. Who are they? Do they possess unique features and characteristics that make them distinct from the indigenous people of Nigeria? Isn’t cattle business an individual one? On what rational ground is the government of the night gazetting lands for her kith and kinsmen, without taking effectual cognizance of the more secular State of the nation? Or is it a right and not a privilege as being annunciated by one of her admirer? The 720 KHz radio frequency recently launched is a strong indication in disseminating page-one information, against the wishful thinking of Nigerians, in seeing to the actualization and possibly implementation of her dubious and heinous agenda. They shall rode in droves in their horses, clothed in shining armor like brave knights and evil warlocks, with their masquerading face signaling their yet to predominate and hegemonic attributes. They shall lie, sleep and snore under the cloud hovering above, with the aim of succeeding the league of the indigenous peoples of the land. Without a blink, they looked at each other saying “what shall we do to douse the avalanche of noise and patriotism hitting the base of the media space, in strict accordance to the guiding model of the rural settlement policy”. They weren’t lost in the dark, as they play to the gallery, inviting the game of pretense. “Let’s send for the emperor of the suspension world while we continue to actualize its full implementation in the background”, the imp amidst them muttered in a subtle tone. They have picnics together; they crossed swords and touched tips. The romance continues, slowly tumbling Nigeria into darkness, and this might spill over the land, destroying all that is good, fair and just. They shall cast their glance heavenward under the edifice of the upper-room, knowing fully well that the ceiling parts and the moons shall align, and then the souvenir of their connivance shall be display in the highest of definition. Fellow Nigerians – it is suicidal if we fail to venture into the remote and immediate causes of our deviation from the track of national interest, societal integration, and pursuance of worthy lives for all Nigerians, by the government into the foray of selfishness, one-sidedness, impairing of moral principles and integrity, daylight nepotism and favoritism, mediocrity and oppression, ethnic and religious intolerance, political lethargy, sheer criminality among the citizenry – our heart shall weep and bleed for equity, fairness, impartiality and justice for humanity, as witnessed during the struggles for colonialism. When shall we aim to project and promote the spirit of nationalism and guide the juvenile minds, to align with the vision of portraying and creating a glowing but purposeful and resounding tomorrow, in consonance with the ideals of a strong and virile economy layout, as being orchestrated by our founding fathers? It is somewhat imperative to place matters into proper perspective, to guide the unsuspecting members of the public arena, against the unethical and irrational threats, as being boldly penciled and pronounced by a Northern Youth Wing, with a punch-line in 30 days ultimatum. Yet, all was oozing from the corner of the upper-room, was to advise Nigerians to denounce such hefty threats. What a country!!! Amidst the constant dialogue to ensure that Nigerians future isn’t compromised, the Famous Holder of the Rock enjoys lashing out emotional outburst and petting phrases, rather than imploring palliative measures and rocketing punitive ones. Yes. Nigerians can’t be angry with every leadership simply because our immediate expectations are not instantly manifested, but in this administration, the spirit that walks in the night had shape-shifted to the masquerade that dances during the day, without minding whose ox is gored. The display of ridiculous strength and evil machinations to an unimaginable height, are now embedded in the pages of normalcy. The moans of romance erupting and emanating from the bed chambers of the upper-room, is a strong indication that the bane of punitive measures might not be taken into consideration and execution in due time to subdue and derail the army of the dead, wreaking havoc and causing preponderance of security lapses, encountered during military-insurgents combativeness and the sheer audacity of power display. It is only a matter of time before they could infiltrate and make striking incursions into the core of the land, as being already seen in the recent killing of a renowned south-westerner’s daughter along ore road. There are confessions and retractions in the public space, as trophies of deaths are being displayed on national screen. These soul-killers who doubles as body-kidnappers, courageously beats their chests, taking stance at their misdeeds. The once far-aways are now closer, they are now seen scampering around and within our immediate corridors, which in turn calls for exigency. When the light of the world flickers, the golden order of knights shall restore the rule of good with the blade of unicorn. |

One of the fundamental problem encompassing Nigeria past and present is the "Problem of Religiosity" . Not until we see beyond that before Nigeria becomes a global nation. As regards the Hijab burning issue which is already dead on arrival, the profession requires no preference nor affiliation to it professional attire. How can one be call to bar with an Islamic Hijab when the profession requires you to appear in the conventional wig as formally wore by newly turn lawyers. Is MURIC as jointly called, why aint they taking about the constant killngs by Fulani herdsmen which initiated at the corridor of this present administration? Are there stance on religion not attributed to that? Or the recent killings and rape by Muslims in the church during the cross over night isn't a national case to cry of ? Sincerely, if the nation is blinded by religious views, then it is high time CAN relay their plight in due course. Will religion move a nation from it topsy-turvy state to an enviable reach ? Let rethink .... |
