Jarus:
Visa experts, pls advise.

My passport expires Nov 29 this year.

I want to apply for 6 months UK visa next week to travel for a week mid-October.

Will the fact that my visa will expire in less than 3 months time affect the success of my application?
@Jarus,

You can go ahead and renew your passport first. Once your naija passport is less than 6 months to expiry, you can renew the passport.

No need to wait for the passport to expire before you renew.

Happy Sunday gurus in the house, I'm trying to book for an hotel on booking.com and it requested for my MasterCard info ,my question is this, will the money be deducted immediately or on the date I book or when I get to the hotel...thanks.
With your MasterCard details they can pre-authorize your card for the amount any time after the booking even if its free cancellation. However note that pre authorization does not mean they will deduct the money. Technically what pre authorization means is that the amount will be held for a number of days and then released back to your account provided check-in date or free cancellation date is not due. some people use cards with no fund (the danger with this is that booking.com will try to pre-authorize the card an once there is no money or insufficient funds they will advise you to either fund the account or give another valid card details. if you don’t do this in a day or 2, the booking will be cancelled.
You can filter on booking.com and pick hotels with ‘No credit card needed’, in this case even if they ask for card details, the card will not pre-authorized. Advise “still use a card with no funds and don’t fund for the duration of the booking”.
Secondly, there are hotels in UK that allows free cancellation up to 12 noon or 1pm on arrival date (http://www.premierinn.com/gb/en/home)

LazzyH:
hello, good morning and happy sunday to u all

Please I need to understand some issues concerning UK visa application
I have been to the uk before for a professional course that last 2 weeks Scotland.
Now I intend applying for a 2 years visa with an invitation from my friend in Liverpool.
Please what document does he have to send to me?
What document do I need to provide?
What centre should I apply from, I mean Ikeja or VI?
The last time I travelled I applied from VI this was 2014 and student visit visa for 6months and now I was hoping to apply for a 2 years at thesame VI office when I discovered they now charge extra 75USD. I have search and search for info concerning this extra charges, I couldn’t find anything.
N300k monthly is what i make and i have N600 TO N900k on my account and took a loan of 1m with document from my company show show for it. but its not for traveling just have some project i am handling.
i intend spending just N500k or less.

please justwise advice me and check for any mistake. fees for 2years UK Visa is alomst N200k now...
USD 458 PLUS EXTRA USD 75 = USD 533 = N196K

whats the difference in visa centres ikeja and VI

HOW I DO PAY ?
i bank with eco bank and have online internet banking facility
i intend paying tomorrow being monday 28th of august 2017

thank you, may God bless ur efforts

please feel free to ask me all necessary questions concerning this here and my email: harrylazzy79@gmail.com or 08053584248 thank you very much....
Ikeja and VI centers offers NO advantage over one another to the best of my knowledge. VI is a user pay center which means you pay to use the center (for submission and biometrics). Ikeja is user free which means you don't pay to use the centre. Note ikeja is usually crowded which might be as a result of it being user free, I heard no much crowd in VI.

Please can any one enlighten me on duration processing time for visit visa.

Been over a month and 2weeks Now.

Without any response from them.

Even tried tracking but kept getting GW not recognized it is there a special way to input the GW number on the tracking website
My brother, just keep checking. Once a decision is made it will show decided. We have seen people here that got decision after 2 months of biometrics, we have seen people with shorter duration and if I remember well someone said he applied since May or so and is yet to get a decision. It also depends on the class of visa you applied for.

Hello. Pls were u refunded. I did my biometrics exactly d same date as u.
From my little understanding, once you do biometrics you can't get a refund. You can also confirm this on the ukgov website.

Actually I made the transfer with the same account I'll be using for my application and I tagged it "borrowed". Now the person will pay back soon.
(Its 300k in naira not £)
If the money has not been paid back to u, u can give the person a different account to pay to, but if it has been paid into the account you intend to present your explain it in the section for additional info. Since you transfered it from your account to the said person, just it " 300k was paid into my xxbank account on the 1st of August, 2017 by a friend who I borrowed the same amount on the 3rd of June, 2017 as shown in my bank account statement"
I had a similar issue in 2 of my applications and none was refused.

Update....
Wiffy was at the VAC to collect her passport today. She applied with our baby...both had biometrics done in ikeja, 22 June,2017. Application was decided Aug 9th when I tracked it on ukvi website. Tls sent a mail yesterday that wiffy's passport was ready for collection without any news on our baby's passport. She was at vac today...6 month was granted to her while they said the baby's passport is not yet ready.
@Bimbotek
Congrats on your wife's visa. Am not a consular officer but i can tell you that your baby will also get the visa. it's possible they send you a mail this evening or tomorrow for the passport.

Congrats.

For all those that have applied and awaiting decision, i will advise you not to apply for withdrawal of application except you have something that you need the passport for urgently. Look at it this way; you have paid for your application to be accessed which leaves you with two options of either a YES or a NO. Withdrawal leaves you with a capital NO and your money will not refunded. Remember even if the application is denied after the long wait, it would have been accessed and reasons for refusals will be given to make such applicants better prepared for next time. If you withdrawal you won’t know what the outcome could have been as it won't be accessed at all with either a YES or a NO (with reasons for better preparation in future application).
The truth is, i have not heard of them misplacing anyone's passport before (although am not saying it’s not possible to misplace because no system is perfect). Let us all be patient, if we have waited for 6 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks, why do we pull out now if the passport is not needed urgently.

I applied for a renewal for myself and first time for my wife and child on 6th of June, got mail from TLS on decision on the 4th of August, and UKVI actually took decision on the 2nd of August. We all got the visas even though our intended travel date has passed. I remember my wife always complaining then that we should withdraw and collect our passports back. i asked her a simple question, "what will you be doing with the passport at home?" and she said nothing, she just wants it back in fact she is not traveling to UK anymore! (But now she keeps asking me what date we plan to go, how many days are we spending, where and where are visiting and all on a DAILY bases!). The system has changed and i don't think it’s a matter of summer rush, this is not the first year they are handling summer rush and my applications before now have always been summer period and it takes maximum of 10 working days at most even when i applied first time.

This is just my thought, 'anyone applying for UK visa now should just have the mindset of getting feedback between 8 weeks or more (assuming worst case scenario)'. Although it can be way shorter, a friend got decision in just 2 days of application and passport returned with 2 years visa on the 4th day this year April (standard application).

I hope someone finds this helpful.

Thanks

this payment thing is driving me crazy.

helppppppppppppppppppppppp!!!!!!!!!
@Sandraa,
I learn't GTB has increased their monthly limit on debit Naira Mastercard from $100 to $1000 monthly, effective from 10th of July. It means you can pay for your visa with GTB Naira Mastercard. Mind you someone told me he transacted yesterday and was charged N375/$1

Please people that have paid recently for visa fee should please respond na!
shebi people responded to your enquiry before you submitted.

somebody should please answer its urgent
@Sandraa you can't pay with GT naira card because the monthly allowance is $100/ month and you are paying $119 for 6 months visa. Dollar card will work because the limit is way above what you are paying as long as you have the required amount of dollars on the card.

Good morning house 23 working days now no reply what can I do?
@Xto4 why not go to TLS Ikeja where you said you did biometrics with your collection slip and let them check for you. It might be a communication error. It's possible your passport is there waiting to be picked up. If it's not there then send ukvi mail and they will tell you if it's still awaiting decision or if decision has been taking. If it has been taking you move to uk embassy at Walter Carrington and check. If decision has not been taking then you need to wait

@ekpotek, please why does an application take 2 weeks to get to Sheffield from the day of biometrics when all documents are in electronic copy?
