FOSBAS1: thanks for this, have you tried it? pls what type of thread/yarn do you think will be best for the project? You are welcome. I tried the cord a long time ago, using the regular yeye yarn. It still turned out ok. So I think that should do. You can use that white thread used for making headrest and table cover. I really don't know what it is called. |

You can buy online from abroad though.
Where do you live, so that others in the same town can give you directions. |

lovemaths: Thanks. It is one bag. one is the front. The other is the back.
Tunisian crochet requires very long hooks. or hooks with something attached to make it long and a stopper at the end because of the many loops. They even have Graphghans made with Tunisian crochet. If you use small hooks you will have to join them together to make a big Afghan. Ok. Thanks for the correction. I don't have the long Tunisian hook so I'm using the regular 4mm crochet hook. I'm doing medium sized squares of 24 stitches x 24 rows ( using 8 ply acrylic yarn). The squares are worked in rounds, beginning from the middle piece. |

Rhukie: I am trying to crochet a sweater by following a youtube video but due to the size of yarn and needle the sweater is very small. my question is how do i know the exact measurement for my sweater putting into cognizance that i have no tailoring knowledge? @ ynnk, lovemath, fosbas1 There is usually a gauge at the beginning of most crochet patterns. The gauge allows you to test the outcome. Try working with a written pattern and doubling your yarn. You can also work with measurements for the larger sweater size so that the finished sweater will look smaller but then the size will still be okay. |

steffii: Hi Ynnk. Are you based in Abuja? And do you teach people how to knit and crotchet? I do a bit of crotcheting but I will really love to perfect on both crotch ing and knitting. Can you help me out or probably refer me to someone who can teach me? Thanx @Steffii, I left Abuja last year. I teach online. Basic tutorials begin on page 4 of this thread. Why not try it and see. At least when you master the pattern reading, the sky will be your starting point. There are also lots of free materials online. I can't really link you to a specific person. You can always post any questions here. Lots of people are willing to help. |

Lumiadee: Ynnk i have a suggestion for your crochet business. others too can try it out
why not create a crochet blog, where u can showcase all your works.
you broadcast the blog addy to ur friends n families and you will also ask them to rebroadcast.
you can make it interactive also. i have a friend who loves writing and she created her blog out of boredom to share free stories.
as at last year she won 2 awards online and she has her own website now.
i havent noticed any vibrant crochetting blog in Nigeria for now. And i also believe once you are a known brand, it will be easy to meet local yarn manufacturers to produce better yarns.
they can even come and advertise their product on ur blog which is more money for you.
think about dis idea my people Lumiadee, thank you so very much. I am so touched. I have actually thought of the blog thing before now. I will take it more seriously now. *hugs* |

All on top of a busy work schedule.
