Welcome to the thread Bga1l. Crochet tutorials begin on page 4 of the thread. Hooks and yarn can be obtained in major shops where clothing accessories are sold.
Bigger hooks can be custom made for you by Bobijoe.

You can use the ones for hair if you like, but those ones have a mild elastic texture that tends to shrink your finished work.

The regular yarn can be found in shops where clothing accessories are sold. Yeye is the common brand.

@Iyomomo, the granny hat is made up of 5 granny square pieces. One square forms the top, the other four are joined at the sides.
So you have a kind of open box that fits like a skull cap.

I am on cloud nine because I just received this gifts from a Facebook friend:12 hooks (2.0mm,3.0mm and 5.5mm aluminum hooks together with 3.5mm, 4.0mm, 4.5mm, 5.0mm, 5.5mm, 6.0mm, 6.5mm, 7.0mm and 8.0mm) , 1 darning needle and 4 stitch counters.

You must be dearly loved by these friends!
At this rate, you should be thinking of opening a store soon.

The materials used for the bag are foreign. But Yeye has a pale sort of peach and a kind of aqua blue.

Wool for plaiting hair. The popular one has an orange label called Babby. You find them in shops where they sell weavon and attachment.

Then smock dresses are those ones that have more than one row of elastic gathers. Like the top part of the dress in the px.

The elastic thread used for such dresses can be obtained in an accessory shop.

@Tatacherie, use the yarn for making hair. It sort of shrinks and gives a small elastic feel.

Meanwhile, I am yet to see elastic yarn in Naija.

Another option is to buy the elastic thread used for smock dresses and double it with your yarn.

@Everyone. Hmmm, all this talk of rising yarn price and rising dollar.

The Kano one still remains N1600 for a pack of 16. You can even get it for less per pack if you are buying 2 or more packs.

Ordinarily, I select different colours to make up my pack of 16.
