AshiwajuFoward: Exactly. Only a minority of those groups still openly identify themselves as Yoruba today. The vast majority have long carved a separate identity for themselves and would rather be identified along those lines.
My view is that we start from our current 6 SW states while consulting with those in parts of Kogi and Kwara. If the Kogi and Kwara ones refuse to commit to the project, that's fine and no hard feelings. After all there are Yorubas in Benin and Togo, and they're cool where they're at while still enjoying good relations with the rest of the wider Yoruba family based on our shared historical and cultural ties.
We mustn't allow any petty excuse to rob us of an opportunity to have a Yoruba country. IMO, Yorubas that are currently not a part of the SW fold but are willing to join their brethren must be vocal and at the forefront of making such ambitions and aspirations known. I am sure the SW states will surely support them if they do. But they must be the ones to make the first moves.
but the okun people of kogi (senator Dino milaye and smart Adeyemi constituency) have long stated in clear terms that they want to join their kith and kin from South West in the last national conference
kayzat: I set my goals and objectives in accordance with my vision. I study them and strategically execute them. My detractors discuss my successes and failures because they have nothing to execute. --- Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu
Intrepid01: Bros I do not know of historical records you have stated but I doubt if you are right on the simple reason that you are wrong about your story on 'Alausa' ....Go to Lagos radio the right pronouncuation is "the owner of awusa' ....Awusa is that local fruit you eat and your mouth taste bitter if you drink water afterward....it has nothing to do with the Northerners AT ALL....
Sanchez01: LOL... So you actually believed that? What is the relationship of Epe with core parts of Lagos? Epe that is on the outskirt and almost in Ogun state.
I haven't really thought about it before though but I know Alausa used to be 'Abúlé Jogunosinmi', which later changed to 'Abúlé Tapa' and much later to 'Alausa', due to the influx of the Hausas. Unfortunately, our poor record keeping culture would be a primary reason why the name Ikeja may not really move us since its origin is unknown to almost all Lagosians.
IKEJA is said to be named after an Awori hunter known as Akeja Onigorun. He was a successful hunter who was celebrated within the Awori clan of the Yoruba people, hence the present name Ikeja the state government seat of Lagos. This is just one of the many stories backing the origin however, no octogenarian or historian till tomorrow has been able to come on TV to explain the name. Again, it goes ahead to show how bad we are at keeping records as a people.
brother you are wrong on Alausa. Actually it is a corruption of the Yoruba word ALÁWÙSÁ. ÁWÙSÁ being a fruit - walnut; so u can make your inference from there. Alausa has absolutely nothing to do with the Hausas. ok?
Joe171: I can't believe such things as this can still happen in Lagos. it's obvious people don't think, we are in a recession in Nigeria now, people hardly feed nowadays. the boy stole the garri just to feed. instead of correcting and then helping the boy, those animals wearing human skin killed the boy because of garri. I heard a story today of a family, the husband has been sacked from work, wife and children had not eaten for two days, so, they stole their neighbour's eba. after the neighbour searched she saw the mother and two children eating eba with water only, NO SOUP!. the compassionate neighbour had to give them some soup to use in eating the eba they stole from her. things are very hard for some people nowadays. God will surely punish the people that beat and burnt that boy.
And where in Nigeria do you think people will lynch a child because he stole garri does it sound plausible or to you?
this guy is a phone thief he was caught yesterday trying to kill three people and was killed instead.
am not saying what was done to him is justified but that was what happened
danielconstant: Waiting for when they would snap ajegunle n oshodi for the world to see....quote me saying there is good and life will migrate u there before 2017
lilreese: Releasing billions and we have high interest. (How ironic), releasing billions is not the solution while investors have lost confidence in the market. With many irregularities in the Nigerian economy. You Afonjas won't disappoint people.
TonyeBarcanista: My friend, 1/100 Wale Edun is greater than 1million Kemi in any situation. Under Kemi the GDP went down, job losses in millions, capital flight, businesses folded in hundreds etc.
You made mention of budget, what us the budget performance? not up to 5% - 10% and the year is almost rounding up. She kept saying money will be pumped in for months but we haven't seen any. She is incompetent for the role.
you still don't get it.
look the singular reason we are in recession is the crash of oil price. And since the federal + the 36state govts + fct combined are the largest employers of labour it's common sense that if they (govt) don't have money to pay salaries and contractors (due to less revenue) it will have a ripple effect on the economy, which means less money in circulation, which mean less production because nobody is buying due to lack of money which in turn causes a recession.
now the inflation we have is an imported inflation it is not due to too much money in the system but it due to dollar scarcity because we are import dependent nation; we import virtually everything from tooth to clothing to phones just name it everything is imported. remember Nigeria do not print dollar, we (fed govt) can only get dollars through foreign trade (sale of crude oil majorly), foreign direct investment or Nigerians repatriating some Fx into the country. But we all know what as become of our external reserves, your brother Jonathan squandered $47.7 billion leaving huge foreign debt.
consequently, we dont have the foreign reserve to defend the Naira that's why we have the naira crashing.
His popularity might have reduced but the fact that he has ended boko haram is helping matters. I would put it at 15%.
that guy just pull out stats out of his anus. 90%? just like. yes his popularity may have dwindled in the south a bit but i bet you that he is making up for that in the north east ever so well. He is a demy god in the north east right now.
lilreese: Indeed she is doing a good job, Nigeria GDP is now negative. She hasn't implement any fiscal policy, all she know is how to say" FG to Release Billions". You're just one of those APC Zombies
what do you know about fiscal policies? i bet you don't know that why you are talking balderdash. fiscal policy is the means by which a government adjusts its spending levels and tax rates to monitor and influence a nation's economy. why do you think fowler the former LIR boss was brought into this administration, haven't you noticed how our tax revenue has suddenly Jacked up within the shortest period. revenue gotten from tax now accounts for over 70% of money shared by govt every month.
You ignorantly criticised her for releasing Billions into the economy but guess what? that is the only way to get out of recession created by the last administration. mumu like you.
