You should also move out of the house and be crawling on fences or the walls of an uncompleted building.
Lizards don't use bedrooms, kitchens, water, power supply etc. They don't need a roof over their heads.
Yea! If you told me as a landlord this, then the above will be my response. |

Streetinvestor2: All the money he is looting can make it free everywhere. How many Nigerians are having kidney problems This is a good idea but nothing is actually free and if it is free, it won't be sustainable. I am not supporting any government but just trying to be objective. In the UK,dialysis is free for patients that need it but about 100% of the population there is under NHS. That means that the population have contributed in order to make it free. Even in India, dialysis is about 2000 to 4000 rupees that is about 40k to 80k. In Germany, minimum price is 500 dollars based on conversion. Truly, not many people have kidney problems but if you have seen just 1 person and you have details of the cost and stress involved then believe me when I say it can turn a millionaire to a pauper without good interventions. I have worked in Nephrology unit in Sokoto so I know what I am saying. |

1. Stop comparing the past to this present times;the fact that my dad got married and had 5 kids doesn't mean I can do that.
2. Life has no mercy for a man. Children and women even have laws protecting them but not you. Try and stay out of trouble. Even men hardly pity/help men.
3. All you can get is "conditional love". The moment you fail at those conditions, you will be cast aside.
4. Be morally upright. Learn a trade and work well. Save and invest. Read wide. Solve problem-stop creating them.
5. Plan. Do needs instead of wants. Practice delayed gratification.
6. Time is wealth. Health is wealth. Also try and be grateful for the little things. |

If you’re used to making presentation or singing for hours, you will understand the need to carry water about because of dehydration.
K1 is no doubt an extremely arrogant person but I still insist the pilot did not handle the issue very well. Taxiing off and trying to kill him is extremely unprofessional, barbaric and unnecessary.
Anyway, since the minister has ordered the suspension of all the parties involved and a full investigation into the incident, it’s better we all stop making assumptions and allow the investigation to unravel all that went wrong. Ok now |

The Governor and local government will come and guard your street on top how much tax that you are paying. Or how many people are even paying the tax. It has never and will never happen. Hire local vigilante and have peace or continue blowing grammar till they rob you all blind. On top 1k...shior |

TheBizGenius: Everyone telling this guy what he's doing is legal, and that he should fight the payment, is doing a great injustice to him as a person.
Let me explain.
My aunt pays $45 a month for neighborhood watch at her place in the US. Why? Because they were having young, crazy black dudes doing break-ins when everyone goes to work.
You hear stories of Premier league footballers being robbed when they are off to matches because they also relied, and still rely on police. That's in the UK.
Messi hired a bodyguard for his on-field security, even when the stadium already has. Why? If one crazy dude runs onto the pitch and stabs him, what he would lose is much more than the amount he pays the bodyguard.
Bottom line? If you have something worth protecting, you will pay.
When people back at my old place refused to pay, I kept quiet. Until they started stealing 300k phones from different people. I had to raise it at the landlords meeting that the amount lost would have covered 2 years salary for the security guys. Somehow, everyone started paying immediately. (I can be quite graphic which makes me quite compelling during presentations. Lol)
So, you're lucky you have nothing to lose that's worth N1, 000 to secure. So, so lucky. Baba no mind local champions. Na only mouth dem get. Dem never see anything. It is when they start carrying their generators, and other properties they will know that N1k na chicken change. |

DCmonster: It is extortion, stop defending illegality. One of the core responsibility of government is provision of security. Someone is saying something about the community he lives in, you a nonresident is countering it as a lie. Dem swear for you? Oga nothing stops the citizens to come together to try and solve the security problems in their own little way. If you wait for the government , u go wait forever. Because of 1k per month people are hyperventilating. We pay 4k/month landlord dues per house here and our security is top notch up till the level that cars from other streets come to park and pay. |

By the way, I stay in Ikorodu and I don't really believe you'd get a decent 2BR for that amount he stated at Ijede...maybe not even at Maya. A room and parlour self-contained might not even be possible.
The road leading to Ijede (i.e. Ijede Road) is good, at least for the sections I have been to. And power supply is better than average, from what I know. Living in Ijede will make it difficult to associate with he rest of Lagos unless na only Ikorodu/Ogun state parole u wan dey do. |

Hamachi: My brother, you’re not wrong at all—those are valid points. A house isn’t just walls and a roof; it’s meant to give peace, security, and access to basic needs. Any house that offers all that deserves to charge more. Add the current price of cement, labour, land, and even sand—and you already know building is not beans.
But here's the thing: while rent must go up, income for most people is still standing still—some people haven’t had a raise in 3 years. Some earn ₦50k–₦80k monthly and still need to eat, send children to school, and survive transportation wahala. So when they hear a one-bedroom is ₦1 million, they panic—not because they don’t know the value, but because they simply can’t match it.
It's not that tenants don't want to pay. It's that many genuinely can’t afford to. So they start managing in places that lack most of those 10 things you listed—no water, no security, no access—but it’s what they can afford. Does that make it right? No. But it’s the reality.
At the end of the day, both landlords and tenants are victims of the same economy. That’s why we need real reforms: better housing finance options, government support for both private landlords and struggling tenants, and maybe some middle ground between shortlet and long-term rent.
Because a country where people can’t afford decent shelter is sitting on a time bomb—both for tenants and landlords. Woman of Wisdom. Peace be upon thee. |

2special: You're not nice o 😁😁😁😁😁 My brother na wetin dey sup be that. There are qualities a house should have; 1. Safety- from natural disasters, structural stability. 2. Security -from man-made/animal invasions. 3. Road network/accessibility. 4. Water supply. 5. Power. 6. Proximity to essential places e.g market, police station, fuel station, schools, hospital. 7. Peace of mind 8. Interior finishing 9. Proximity to areas of opportunities. 10. Etc Therefore rent will never be the same. And with the current economic realities, new houses will definitely be more expensive. |

Brazino: What's the rationale Behind our doctors telling patients not to eat for a few days after a surgery is been carried out on them? If doctors in other parts of the World like In Europe, don't tell their patients so, then why is Nigeria's different? Could it be due to Technology? Technology indeed. One of the reasons is that most of the surgery we perform is invasive (cut and open) and that disturbs bowels. Most surgery performed abroad is non-invasive and one can easily eat afterwards. |

I would say 1.5M if you the builder put in some work. Naso. Shey na uncompleted building you wan give them? Plastering. Roofing. Doors. Painting. Tiles. Plumbing nko? |
