Someone posted this on canadavisa.com,

Final Chance For Current Federal Skilled Worker Program

October, 2014

The current application cycle for the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), which opened in May, 2014, will finish at the end of this year. With just three months remaining in 2014, potential candidates have a limited window of opportunity to apply for this program. Successful applicants will gain Canadian permanent residence.
What is the Federal Skilled Worker Program?

The FSWP assesses candidates based on their human capital — that is to say, their ability to become economically established upon immigration to Canada — using a points-based system. Applicants must score at least 67 points based on the criteria set by Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC).

The current FSWP determines that 50 occupations are in demand in Canada, and candidates must have at least one year of work experience in the past 10 years in one of 50 eligible occupations. A total of 25,000 applications will be accepted for processing under the current FSWP, with a cap of 1,000 per eligible occupation. In addition to the fact that there is a limited time period left in which to make an application, candidates should also be aware that some of the occupation caps are close to reaching their limit.

Under the current Federal Skilled Worker Program, an eligible applicant applies knowing with a degree of certainty that he or she will be able to immigrate, so long as he or she is not criminally inadmissible, doesn't have major health problems, and works in an occupation that has not yet reached its cap. We are now entering the final three months in which the Government of Canada will be accepting applications under the FSWP in its present form.

How do candidates determine their eligibility for the current FSWP?

The first step in the entire process is to determine one's eligibility for the program. Candidates need to know whether or not meet the eligibility criteria to make an application. If a candidate is eligible to apply, he or she should begin their Educational Credential Assessment immediately and sit the IELTS exam. No one is exempt from the requirement for language testing, regardless of their country of origin or education.

“Candidates still have time, but they need to move fast. In practical terms, they need to determine their eligibility today and, if they are eligible, they need to start the process almost immediately,” says Attorney David Cohen. “Candidates who fulfil the criteria of the current Federal Skilled Worker Program should apply now, knowing with a degree of certainty that they will be able to immigrate to Canada.”

After December 31, 2014, the current rules and procedures for the FSWP will no longer be in place.

What comes after the FSWP?

As of January 1, 2015, candidates will no longer apply directly to the FSWP. From that date, Canada will transition to a new expression of interest immigration selection system called ‘Express Entry'.

Under Express Entry, the federal government and provincial governments, as well as Canadian employers, will be able to select potential immigrants from a pool of candidates who have declared an expression of interest in immigrating to Canada and who meet the eligibility criteria for at least one of Canada's economic immigration programs:
◾The Federal Skilled Worker Program
◾The Federal Skilled Trades Program
◾The Canadian Experience Class
◾A portion of the Provincial Nominee Program

The highest-ranked candidates (those deemed to have the best chances for economic success) may then be invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada under one of these programs.

“From January, candidates will be relying on being cherry-picked by either the federal government, a province, or a Canadian employer. Now is the time to take action,” says Attorney David Cohen.

Pls what is the implication of this on those that are yet to send their application and their CAP is not yet filled, even after 31st December?

Royaldee: @solomonwis, @damkollins, @fermadiko, @yomifowe

Pls jst like sm1 can send a Masters degree certificate to WES for evaluation without sending the undergraduate; is there any crime in sending HND certificate for evaluation without sending the OND certificate.

This is urgent plssssss
Of course you can send your HND without sending the OND if you don't want to. Its the highest qualification that you have that would count.

All the best.

Joe980: Cool...as regards verification, how did you track to know Lasu has gotten your docs from WES. Did Lasu contact you? Was transcript also verified? How much in all did you pay for verification? Thanks
I dont know if transcript was verified but everything together is the same cost (evaluation of both transcript and certificate).

LASU did not contact me. After I saw my status of my WES account, i tried locating someone that works in Admin office, eventually I got an old classmate of mine who happen to work there. He was the one who went to make inquiries for me and informed me of what to do and the amount of money to pay ($50).

meritoz: Hello House, good day to u all.
Pls is the wife going to produce or submit documents the way the Principal applicant will?
And how many times will they ask one to present a copy of POF before you travel.

Thanks
If you go through the document checklist, the forms and documents your wife is expected to fill was explicitly stated viz;
Schedule A background declaration (IMM 5669) and
Additional family Information (IMM 5406)

She would only need to take IELTS exam only if your overall score is not up to 67 points and that would only contribute 5 points to your overall scores after you must have calculated your points based on the other parameters i.e Language proficiency, age, work experience, education , adaptability, etc.

I took my test early last year and scored 8.0
|I used a regular commercial bank debit card, i.e. First Bank.
Congrats,

I would like to use my debit card too. Do i need to do anything spectacular other than filling the correct card details on the form and leaving the correct amount (Equivalent) in my bank account?

chuka2003: It won't be a bad idea to give him the link to the website. .
Bros, you wont get to know the amount for your WES evaluation until after you fill the form. So let me tell you what i did in my own case. I went ahead to fill the form and after everything, the payment page came up. Instead of clicking on the pay now button, i just left the page.

I then went back to the site when i had money in my account and my credit card was ready and then made the payment.
But the amount should be 299 dollars.

All the best

Genteffect: Yes I am, but I'm just processing mine. I'm thinking of telling them to send it to WES via Email, but I don't know the mail address, I just hope someone here could help with that please.
Hi.

wrt WES verification, the only way you can expedite action is to try and contact your school to know what they require and pay the necessary fees, if possible, you can go there or send someone there. In my own case, after about three (3) weeks, i finally got someone to help make enquiries and eventually paid 50 dollars after which the verification was sent to WES last weekend (result verification notice on 18th August).

Genteffect: Please how much does the evaluation cost and how did you make the payment. I just requested for my transcript in school, and I've already opened an online account with WES for the FSWP. Thanks
I dont know if your question has been answered satisfactorily. I paid 299 approximately 300 dollars with my credit card.

After filling the requisition form on their site, you ll be redirected to a payment portal where the amount to be paid by you would have been calculated for you based on what you filled in your form.

Fingertips: Hello House, just received notification that my ECA report has been completed and will be shipped by close of business. that was really fast prior to the initial mail i received 2 days ago that it will be ready on the 21st of October. My NOC is 2131 and i really needed my Engineering degree to be evaluated as MSc was on Project Mgt., will it be a problem? Now i await my IELTS exam on the 20th of Oct. I'm impressed with WES, guess Nigerian degrees always delay the assessment.
Congrats. have you received your result now?

guess we re in similar situations, got a mail from WES on saturday that my evaluation has commenced and it ll be ready by 27th october. I pray it ll be as fast as yours.

damkollins: You will fill one form as a principal applicant.
Your spouse/common law partner/dependent or adopted child of 18 years and above will each fill.

For dependant type of your children (assuming you are using the updated form),Type 1(The dependent is under the age of 19 and single {not married and not in a common-law relationship}) is okay or Type 2 (The dependent is 19 years of age or older, has been financially dependent on a parent since before the age of 19 due to a physical or mental condition.)...this is the current form after august 1st,2014.
For forms before this date,Type A is for children under 22years.
Cheers.
Thanks so much. Quite explanatory.
