TWO SUSPECTS APPREHENDED FOR SALES OF NEWBORN TWINS

Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested one Ujunwa Una 'f' and Chinelo Igbechionwu 'f' for conspiracy and child sales.

The suspects were arrested by patrol officers from Ojodu Division stationed at Berger bus-stop, an entry point into Lagos State, whom had earlier been alerted about the suspects by a Good Samaritan. The suspects were found with two newborn baby girls, approximately six-days old, while traveling from Abia State on September 9, 2024.

Investigations revealed that the suspects were en route to deliver the babies to one nurse in Lagos State whom the mother of the babies promised to link them up with only after they had arrived Lagos.

Upon questioning, the suspects confessed to the crime, stating that they were paid the sum of One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (₦150,000) for transportation of the babies to Lagos. The suspects added that the mother of the babies sold the babies because she could not give them proper care.

The case was transferred to the Gender Unit of the Command from where the newborns were placed in the custody of a motherless babies home for proper care and medical evaluation.

While investigation is ongoing to arrest other conspirators, the arrested suspects were arraigned on Thursday, September 19, 2024.

PoliticsRe: On Ebonyi Airport by yoruboid: 1:33pm On Sep 19, 2024
Ibadan Airport has as many flights as Enugu Airport and that’s about five flights daily

Even Ethiopia Airlines doesn’t land there everyday while Lagos Airport (it’s actually one not two) with separate terminals for domestic and international traffic has almost 300 flights daily

I bet you even Lekki Aiport when completed will have as much traffic as the Ikeja Airport under two years

Ebonyi needs to float its own airline
PoliticsRe: Lagos-calabar Coastal Road Update by yoruboid(op): 1:17pm On Sep 19, 2024
Going at this pace, this road will be completed under six years while the sections 1, 2 and 3 which are VI to Eleko, Eleko to Ogun/Ondo Border and Calabar to Rivers/Akwa Ibom border will be done in 3yrs

Sections 4 and 5 which are Ondo to Delta and Rivers to Bayelsa will commence next year

PoliticsOyo Govt Begins Ibadan Airport Upgrade by yoruboid(op): 12:34pm On Sep 18, 2024
Governor Seyi Makinde today will flag off the construction work for the upgrade of the Ibadan Airport, Alakia to an international airport.

The commencement comes a few weeks after the inauguration of an 11-man committee headed by former Commissioner for Finance, Bimbo Adekanmbi to oversee the delivery of the project.

It would be recalled that the Federal Government had earlier granted Oyo government the approval to upgrade the facility after several projects towards attaining the vision to turn around the facility for the state’s economic benefits.

Governor Makinde had during the inauguration of the committee on July 30, noted that the upgrade of the airport would support his administration’s drive to expand the economy of the state through agribusiness.

He noted: “The decision to convert our existing local airport into an international airport was not a hasty one; we are not engaged in a let-me-do-this-because-other-governors-are-doing-it-competition.

“This is a well-thought-out decision based on science, logic and data. This vision is already four years old and we laid the groundwork in our first tenure. We have completed the 500,000-litre aviation fuel storage and dispensing facility, which has been concessioned to the Bovas Group.

“We have also upgraded part of the facilities which increased the number of airlines including Ibadan in their flight schedules.”

In our drive to attract skilled, trustworthy, and capable foreign investors to support the THEMES+ development agenda, I led a delegation on a two-day working visit to Portugal. Our primary focus was the Mota-Engil Consortium, one of the largest construction companies in Europe.

During our visit, we toured the Porto International Airport—Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport—constructed by Mota-Engil, which was truly impressive. We also visited their waste management facilities and real estate operations, which provided us with a wealth of knowledge and insight. Mota-Engil has an impressive track record of delivering large infrastructure projects in Africa and this speaks volumes about their capabilities.

We are focused on potential collaborations for the proposed Lekki-Epe International Airport. This strategic initiative is aimed at alleviating congestion at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport and improving infrastructure along the Lekki-Epe corridor.
