mavinc4u: brother i no bad gan. i was only hitting the hammer on the nail,i don't know how to beat about the bush and i came out straight with my suggestion as everybody gave their suggestion.i sold a phone to someone and it was an office delivery getting there,the person gave me his ATM with his password to go and withdraw my money,at first i was afraid and wanted to find out why he gave his card and he said because he trusts me and i was like but you don't know me and he said yes but i trust you,came back from the bank and whole people in the office were like,do we still have people like this in Nigeria? Online business is all about trust,call the person on phone and find out the truth from the voice,it speaks a lot of volume,if you don't have software to detect if someone voice is genuiue in respect of what is at hand then make use of your IQ or ask someone to do it for you to be sure you are dealing with the right person.americans do it alot,asking you to call them when you want to purchase valuable things from them. then if one lacks the trust because of the situation of things in Nigeria then the suggestion of the third party payment i suggested earlier will come up.is just the buyers decision,buy from a reputable seller or buy from your state if you can't trust someone outside your state.is so simple. No offence.

i really support you ma'am, online business is all about TRUST!!!, seriously if i wanna transact with someone n i call nd the person sounds weird or sounds panicing its weird...i remembered i called a man on here he wantd to sell an iphone 3gs i asked the size of the phone he said 16gb,he said he was selling for 48k so i said i have only 30k, immediately e agreed lol, i felt its weird later i call back nd i asked him if the phone memory can be expandable, he said yes it has memory card slot WTF.haha.

mavinc4u: yes,i knew you were going to attack me for making that suggestion.my dreams are always true.i had a dream that after making this suggestion,this guy will attack me with ebay or amazon issue.do you read at all,can't you see where i mentioned that payment would be involved which would be an option for the buyers,Must nairaland be an ebay or amazon before they will create payment gateway for people who wants it that way,is crackberry not a forum but things are sold through online payment gateway there.Guy,is an option cos it will increase the price of the product on sale so is only good for buyers that can afford it cos it would be at their own expense and if you don't need it then the buyer can go to a reputable seller and get what he or she wants.shekina.haba.

Its a good idea but really, who's gonna be monitoring the transaction, even on ebay or craiglist there are fake post, one gotta be very careful thats just it. For example in the market n iphone 4s used is sold for btw 75k - 80k and you see a post saying he or she wanna sell for 50k...you have to confirm if its geniu or not.scammer beat down prices.

virtuoso01: I think there should be a kind of a seperate and more thorough registration for those intending to do business on Nairaland. This process will capture much more specific data of the person who wants to sell on Nairaland.


In the event of any kind of problem that individual would be easier to trace.


Although I know that it will be very difficult to completely remove scammers(people are scammed even in real life face to face situations) I think it will reduce the incidence of scammers.


More contributionns are seriously welcome, especially from honest and sincere sellers like me and also prospective buyers of anything.


We should not allow these people to destroy this place for us.

did you see the photos he uploaded? If you did, did you notice the application icons look at them very very well don't they look like chinko?...thats not how n iphone 4s icon look like and i called him to explain why he wants to sell the phone that i notice thats not the original, he told me na confirm original dey use memory card hahaha wtf...well tho bother yourself buying it, if you check the post you'll see he has changed the title, and whatever..those are people tryna scam.

sun_temi: Hmm not everyone. I've done several deals on Nairaland without seeing the buyers. There are many reliable sellers on Nairaland as there are scammers too. One needs to investigate whoever one is dealing with.

a friend of mine still got scammered by someone who he has been transacting business with, he had never seen this person, the 1st,2nd,3rd transaction was successful the last they scooped him of N80,000 is that good!..

So how can one know the honest people?

AND FOR THOSE WHO WANNA BUY, IT ADVISABLE TO GO TO THE LOCATION, OR BETTER STILL MEET IN YOUR PREFERED LOCATION E.G EATRIES / RESTURANT, AND ALSO CHECK PRODUCT BEFORE PAYMENT. ANYBODY WHO SAYS YOU SHOULD PAY ONLINE AND IT WILL BE DELIVERED IS A BLOOD FUCKING SCAMMER!
