It's simple.
Just say, "Identify yourself" or "may I know the fine officer in front of me".

That's the right way to ask a soldier for his identity.
The problem however is; no soldier who knows his onions will answer a bloody civilian with just words.

A decent soldier will ensure you go back to the barracks or the guardroom so you can know him better.
